Removing Rovers from his twitter account without yet replacing it with Bolton is telling. Indicates his desire to quickly remove any Rovers connection. Lacks class. IMHO.

I think football is a bit different though. Fans paid to see him, sing his name etc. it comes across a bit petulant rather than appreciative of his time at the club imho

Once the deal is done and announced maybe. There is no way I'd change my LinkedIn (yes I have one) or Twitter (don't have one) profile until things were formally announced. I guess the criticism he's received over the past few months has diluted any sentiment he has for the club or fans.

IMO AC needs to be sold in this window for the 600k or slightly higher, while he has clubs willing to pay good money for him.. If it goes to the summer, i fear he will be worth significantly less than what is on offer now... If the money goes on team re-building, then many players can be acquired through wages to strengthen the team for next season. Agree with BT. So not quite the huge fee ("the bidding starts at £4mil") that the previous delusional manager was suggesting he was worth. Quelle que shocker. Yep

£750k bid from Bolton for Collins appears to have been accepted having medical tomorrow. If this is correct, then BRFC are the big winners in the deal, good luck to him, thanks for the memories... i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/article8259922.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JMP_Bristol_Rovers_V_Wycombe_Wanderers_WC-484.jpgAC Career Stats: Age: 26, Position: Striker, Played: 315, Goals: 72, Clubs: Newport, Merthyr, Notts Co, Tranmere, Maidstone, Colchester, Morecambe, FGR, BRFC & Wales U19.

Petulant and childish at worst. People pay good money to see 'generally over-paid' footballers. They cheer and sing their names when they are playing well. They may get a bit of criticism when playing badly. Sadly it's part of the territory. Not helpful during the game, understandable on-line though. I don't think I've ever 'booed' the team, or an individual player. Even with Tom Nicholls. Just an eye roll and a muttered "oh for f*cks sake" after his latest bit of mincing around the pitch.

Aaron Collins: Bolton Wanderers sign Bristol Rovers striker..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1203F/production/_132519737_gettyimages-1669842057.jpg Aaron Collins has scored 72 goals in 315 games as a professionalLeague One side Bolton Wanderers have signed striker Aaron Collins from Bristol Rovers on a three-and-a-half year deal, for an undisclosed fee. The 26-year-old has scored five goals in 36 games for the Gas this season, taking his club tally to 39 in 139 matches since arriving in June 2021. Collins started out at Newport, and has also had permanent stints with Wolves, Morecambe and Forest Green Rovers. "We're really excited to have him," boss Ian Evatt told the Bolton website. "He is a very, very good player and brings something slightly different to what we already have. We're always looking to improve and find players that are additive to what we already have and he fits that bill." Ian Evatt's side are without Dan Nlundulu after he was injured for "months" back in December, and Collins will add further options to Bolton's attack for their promotion bid. "We have a really good squad of players and a really strong group of strikers," Evatt added. "Obviously losing Dan was a big blow. We felt we have been one light for the past couple of months, so adding Aaron into that pack is great." For Rovers, Collins' exit is a disappointment given boss Matt Taylor already said the club were "playing catch-up" on transfers, albeit striker Chris Martin has extended his deal during January.

Nice words from AC:-
Collins' farewell message stated: "Gasheads, what a two-and-a-half years it has been. From scoring that screamer against Oxford in the FA Cup, to that 4-3 win away at Rochdale, and then making history with the 7-0 win on that final day - being a part of getting this club back to League One will live with me forever and I’ll never forget the feeling of being on top of that lamppost on Gloucester Road, celebrating with all of you Gasheads.
"Being named as League One Player of the Season 2022/23 was a special achievement, and I'm so grateful it was part of this incredible club. I couldn't have done it without the support of the Gasheads, and the noise you make, week in and week out.
"I will forever cherish the memories of playing in the blue and white quarters and hope one day I can be a part of the Gas family once again. Who knows what the future holds.
"I'd like to thank both the players and the staff who have been a part of my journey at Rovers. I've made friends for life, and have loved my time here.
"UTG
"Goodnight Irene. For now..."

Yes, that really is a super leaving message.
I don't do twitter, so I really don't know exactly what he's supposed to have done wrong. Was it removing from his Bio that he plays for Rovers, and if so is that really so bad?? When I checked his Instagram account last night, it was still showing him in Rovers gear on his profile pic. I notice he has now (quite understandably) changed the picture to him in a Bolton shirt, but he still 'follows' Rovers on his Instagram.

Updating the post from Angas above: Aaron Collins pens heartful Bristol Rovers farewell message as Bolton transfer is completed..by Daniel Hargraves.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9071508.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_JS265560261.jpgAaron Collins has penned a heartful message to Gasheads after completing his switch from Bristol Rovers to Bolton Wanderers on deadline day. It is understood that the forward has joined the League One promotion chasers for a fee in the region of £750,000, signing a three-and-a-half year deal at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. Over a two-and-a-half year spell at the Mem, the 26-year-old played 139 matches for the Gas, scoring 38 goals and providing 24 assists. 16 and 12 of those respectively came in League One last season as the Welshman was named the division's player of the season. Collins was a part of that legendary team that secured promotion from League Two in the most dramatic of fashions and will go down as a cult hero for his post-promotion celebrations alone, acknowledging the achievement by sitting on top of a lamp post on Gloucester Road with supporters after the 7-0 win over Scunthorpe United. This season hasn't been as much of a success but the new Bolton man will be regarded warmly in the hearts of Gasheads for his contributions to the football club during his spell. In the club's statement confirming the departure, Collins' farewell message stated: "Gasheads, what a two-and-a-half years it has been. "I'd like to thank both the players and the staff who have been a part of my journey at Rovers. I've made friends for life, and have loved my time here. "UTG "Goodnight Irene. For now..." There could be a Mem reunion for Collins in the not too distant future with Bolton set to play Bristol Rovers away on April 6th. An afternoon which will surely see the 26-year-old handed a warm reception should he be involved for the Whites that day.

Thanks Aaron. Although two-and-a-half years is inaccurate. You only actually played for us for about a year.
Can I humbly suggest that your career to date suggests that you have a mentality problem? I think your head was turned after the first half of last season and you began to believe the hype, which was unjustifiable as we were by some distance the biggest club you had ever played for.
If you don't have focus and drive at 26-years-of-age, I don't think you will ever have it.
Thanks for the 750,000 GBP and the memories.

He's done nothing wrong IMO, just complaining for complaining's sake. He was almost unplayable in the promotion season and should have got a look in at international level. That number of goals & assists was no fluke and while his goals have dried up, he is still one of the top assisters in League One even now. Think majority of people will wish him well, seems a nice lad who has said his goodbyes in the correct fashion. No need whatsoever to get the pitchforks out.

It's the Rovers way these days Mart, slaughter players when they move on. Wait until Collins comes back playing for Bolton, all those fouls the fans have been screaming for will then be seen as dives. I am generalising of course. Getting £750k for a player who didn't want to stay at the club is decent business.

However, that said, I wish AC well and thought his exit statement was class!

The diving and goals drying up went hand in hand with AC, whenever he flew to ground I cringed, thought he/Rovers were better than that, but suppose it is part of the modern game now as all our strikers go down far to easily trying to buy free kicks, not my cuppa in truth.
