Everton sign Napoli midfielder Jesper Lindstrom on loan..i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/07/23/23/87687207-0-image-a-16_1721774687012.jpgNew Everton signing Jesper Lindstrom feels he is "100% ready" to "deliver" for the club. The 24-year-old has joined the Toffees on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy included. A versatile attacking midfielder, Lindstrom came through the Brondby academy before making the move to German side Eintracht Frankfurt. He played 80 games for the Bundesliga side, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists, and helped them to win the Europa League in 2022 before moving to Napoli. "I feel very good. It's amazing to represent Everton," Lindstrom told club media. "This is a big club, with big history, a good stadium and, as I've seen, very good facilities as well. I'm very, very happy to be here and I feel like this is a good fit. "I actually heard of Everton's interest a while ago – not only from now but previously. England is very similar to Denmark so I will feel at home quickly. "I've spoken to the manager. It sounds as though he likes the way I play football and I can be a good fit for the team with my speed, so now I want to deliver. I know he trusts me and that's another reason I'm here - because I need that trust from the coach and I need trust from my teammates. I’m ready to show them I can help. “I am 100% ready. I'm so hungry. This pre-season feels long because I just want to play football, I just want to be out there in the stadium. Last year was a tough year for me, but I'm so happy to be here now and I can't wait to get started." The Denmark international struggled to really make an impact with Napoli, featuring 29 times without scoring or assisting, but he wants to put that behind him. "I feel like I can help the team and that is what I want to do. I want to show the fans that I'm here," Lindstrom added. "This is a season for me to come back on track. I think this is a very good fit for me and I'm ready to show why I should stay here."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked for your views on Everton signing winger Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli on an initial loan deal.
Here are some of your comments:Steve: Firstly, I am pleased we get him for a year without shelling out a big transfer fee. Sounds like he has a good deal of potential and, given he didn't start many games for Napoli, in a successful season for them, he will be hungry to show what he can do. A good bit of business for Everton. Jeff: This player has been brought in by the same people that are responsible for wasting over £500m on worthless players in the past seven years, so forgive me for not jumping for joy. At least one positive thing is that this is a loan deal with an option to buy. Greg: Still young and hopefully hungry. Had a poor season so let's hope the love he will get from the fans will turn his career. If it doesn't work out, we send him back. It's a no brainer. At least the club appear to be making sensible decisions at long last. Derek: Looks like a good signing especially with the option to buy after one season at Everton. Look forward to see how he changes attacking options. Tim: Played well at Frankfurt and ultimately left for a hefty price tag to Napoli. Happy to have him in but we are still a defender and midfielder short. I fear that we are one centre-back injury away from a bad start to the season. Duncan: We've been short of depth in wide positions for years, so it's good to get people in and with our finances being what they are a loan with an option to buy is very sensible indeed.

Everton are planning to loan out 20-year-old English centre-back Reece Welch. Everton are considering a bid for 26-year-old Roma and England striker Tammy Abraham. i2-prod.liverpoolecho.co.uk/incoming/article29638763.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_Dwight-McNeil-Vitalii-Mykolenko-James-Garner.jpgEverton have revealed their new away kit for the new season - a yellow and black strip which the club say is inspired by the "famous atmospheric nights that have played out under the glow of the stadium's floodlights." The club will debut the new kit in Tuesday's friendly against Coventry City. Everton said on their official website: "The away offering is the latest in a series of Castore kits for 2024-25 that find different ways of paying homage to the Grand Old Lady in the stadium’s final season."

Here are some of your comments:
Jacob: Our best away kit in a long while.Barry: Love the kit but if we're playing a team in blue (Chelsea, Leicester etc) we couldn't wear it, would still clash. Eddie: It's rubbish! Black, unimaginative and despite the spin, boring. Whatever happened to the fantastic amber and blue away kit of the 60s and 70s? Or white shirts and royal blue shorts! This kit is awful and of course awfully expensive! Danny: Where's the badge? I can't fathom why Everton are persisting with this weird representation of it. It's not an Everton shirt without an Everton badge. Dean: A pretty poor homage to our famous stadium in the final year. Castore were hailed as being set up by "locals" who understand the club, however they appear to have made no effort in both kit designs for this year, which is summed up by not even displaying our club crest on the away shirt. Anton: Wow. Talk about a damp squib. That is one of the most benign shirt designs I've seen in a while. How does it represent the light of Goodison Park's floodlights? Two shirts down, only third shirt left to redeem this new Castore kit deal...

Everton complete Jake O'Brien signing from Lyon..i2-prod.liverpoolecho.co.uk/article29645249.ece/ALTERNATES/s1023/0_Jake-OBrien-July-2024-033-1JPG.jpgEverton have signed centre-back Jake O'Brien from Lyon on a four-year deal for £16.4m. The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland defender made 27 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season. He becomes Everton's fifth summer signing after midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, forwards Iliman Ndiaye and Jesper Lindstrom, and the return of Jack Harrison on loan from Leeds. "I'm buzzing and so happy to have signed," O'Brien said. "I've been dreaming of this kind of move in the Premier League, with such a historic club. It's a very exciting move for me." O'Brien said Everton was a "huge club" with a "big future". "When the transfer window opened there were other clubs in for me but there was only one club I wanted to go to - it was Everton," he said. "They've shown the faith in me so now it's my turn to show why on the pitch."

Here are some of your comments:
Graham: Good player, expensive for us. Would assume Jarrad Branthwaite will definitely leave now, but hope he stays and then Mason Holgate goes and Michael Keane. Looking forward to seeing how Jake progresses with us. Keith: Best signing so far for me. His performance levels last season for Lyon were hugely improved and he really looks like a player cut from the same cloth as other great Everton centre-backs such as Alan Stubbs, Sylvain Distin and Phil Jagielka. Very happy about this one. Jeremy: To survive in the Premier League, teams need a strong defence and midfield core, but to be competitive, teams need to score goals. We buy bargain unproven strikers and retain DCL, so where will the goals come from? Dave: Much needed signing. Welcome to Everton! Hope we bring a striker in before the end of the window and a quick winger. I hope I'm not being greedy asking for a left-back and a midfielder too, because they're glaring gaps in the squad. But yes, this is hopefully a very good bit of recruitment. Pete: I can't see O'Brien going straight into the team and playing every week but hopefully while still only 23 he will learn a lot from the likes of Seamus Coleman and James Tarkowski. Also - I'm sure as a central defender himself, Sean Dyche has seen some good qualities in him.

Here are some of your comments:
Dennis: I am quietly confident we will be comfortable mid-table and I can honestly see us going all the way in either the League Cup or FA Cup. This is also going to be a happy and sad season. Happy because we are going to be in a brilliant new stadium, but sad and emotional to be leaving Goodison Park.18 May 2025, what an emotional day it will be. COYB. Jeff: Why do none of the pundits talk about how bad Calvert-Lewin is? It's a mystery to me. Calvert-Lewin is Championship material at best. Anthony: We need financial stability and certainty. Sean Dyche and the team will provide the results in the short term. Once we are in the new stadium, the sky's the limit and we can can get back up to where we've always belonged. Graham: No one has talked about the Goodison factor this season. The final year at The Old Lady is going to spark special atmospheres that are even better than usual. That may propel us to a special season. The bear pit will be more hostile. Richard: Someone who has been overlooked for Everton is James Tarkowski. Whenever I have watched us, he has always been superb and gives 100% every game. I love the attention Jarrad Branthwaite gets, but for me Tarkowski is just as good. John: Dyche suits us and we're a better side for him. He can be a bit stubborn though in terms of favourites subs. As much as Abdoulaye Doucoure scored some important goals, he shouldn't be his first name on the sheet. Great athlete but not the best footballer. Dom will need someone in there with him.

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Everton and Brighton.
Here are some of your comments:
Everton fans
Mal: Wrong tactics, wrong manager - I said this last season and nothing has changed. Pickford long balls to Harrison, who then crosses it to Calvert-Lewin, who rarely scores from open play. This didn't work last season and it won't work this season. Everton has a manager in Dyche who stubbornly won't change his system. If only Moyes was available... Gary: Same old Everton, I'm afraid. It's going to be a very long season but at least we have a few more games to play before we really know how it will pan out. We just don't have pace at the back with Young and Coleman, who has been a fantastic servant but his legs are not 21 any more. Lee: Thought we started really well - then typical Everton turned up! Young cost us a chance of even getting back into game - really poor from him. I'd rather start with three at the back. Very, very disappointing.

i2-prod.liverpoolecho.co.uk/article27513110.ece/ALTERNATES/s1023/0_JT.jpgEverton defender James Tarkowski does not feel their heavy defeat by Brighton was a "reality check" and has stressed there is "plenty to be hopeful about". The Toffees began their Premier League campaign in unwanted fashion at Goodison Park and, to make matters worse, they will now be without Ashley Young through suspension after he was sent off in the second half. "You end that game feeling very low - 3-0, 10 men, not really touching the ball for a while. But if you look at that the game from early on, I thought we were the better side," Tarkowski said. "It's not a reality check. We know the level of this league and how difficult it is. You'll get punished if you make mistakes. “The foundation which we build on - and we will continue to do - a lot of it was on show. Minor details will cost you in this league and we'll see that." The result was also a demoralising way for the club to begin their final season at their current home before they move to their new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next year. "This [Goodison Park] is a special place, a very special place," Tarkowski added. "We want to do it justice this season, before we move on to our new home, so hopefully [there will be] better days than Saturday."

Everton 2-3 Bournemouth: What Sean Dyche said:
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/31/19/89139537-13800013-image-m-19_1725127703068.jpg
Everton boss Sean Dyche, speaking to MOTD: "We did so much right until they scored their first goal. I think they had one shot on target before then. The game should have been out of sight. We conceded one and then threw it away. I can't put my finger on it right now. "They kept raining it forward and got their reward in the end. The Premier League you have to play to the last breath of the game and we simply didn't but they did. They were playing it forward and crossing it into the box and we didn't deal with it. Simple stuff but we threw it away. It is the third game we have thrown away this season. "You have to kill teams off at every level, but particularly at this level. Everyone was looking at someone else to deal with things and that is when there is trouble. You could see the body language change. "You have to see games through and we have enough experience to do that, but today we didn't."

We asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Everton and Bournemouth.
Here are some of your comments:
Everton fansBen: Everton FC - finding new and interesting ways to make the lives of their fans a misery. On the positive, for 86 minutess it was good. Really good in fact. But to lose like that is the kind of gut punch none of us needed. It’s a miserable time being an Everton fan and this loss just compounded that feeling. Tony: This type of result has been going on for far too long - managing to grab defeat from victory in the final minutes, whether managed by Roberto Martinez, Rafa Benitez or Marco Silva. There have been so many of these debacles at Goodison and I’m afraid it’s looking increasing likely we are going to crash out of the top flight in the Old Lady’s final season. Mary: Sean Dyche once again was tactically inept. I have always been a supporter of him but he got it wrong today with his substitutions. When he took our most creative forward off, he should have put Jake O'Brien on to shore up the defence. But he is so set in his 'I know best' attitude that he brought on Abdoulaye Doucoure, who has been awful for the past two seasons. Time for him to go. Neil: Utter joke. You absolutely cannot switch off at 2-0 against any team and expect to come out on top. This one has to be shouldered by the defence. Why is O’Brien not playing? i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/31/19/89139377-13800013-image-a-22_1725128141813.jpg

Sean Dyche on takeover, his future and Coleman fitness..by Ben Collins, BBC Sport journalist
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/08/31/19/89139537-13800013-image-m-19_1725127703068.jpg
Everton boss Sean Dyche has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game at Aston Villa (kick-off 17:30 BST).
Here are the key lines from his news conference:On the club statement about prospective owner John Textor: "If you're a prospective owner, you're going to ask certain questions, finding out about what you're going to buy and to get a feel." On Textor saying he wants to speak to Dyche about what kind of players he wants to coach: "I haven't had the chance [to speak yet]. I don't think the deal's reached that position. If you're a prospective owner, you probably would want to build a relationship, or certainly know the manager's thoughts. He isn't the current owner but if he did take over I'm sure you'd have that conversation [about players]. I think that's standard practice." On how he deals with those discussions: "Over my years as a manager, I've dealt with many situations, many different players and many different playing styles. I've tried to adapt to whatever challenge I've had with the group of players I've been given." On whether there's any uncertainty over his future: "The bigger picture of the club is the main focus. The club is still nowhere near where it wants to be. We want to win games - that's my first thought. It's not about myself or contracts. It's about my staff and the players aligning to win games." On his position beyond this season: "The ambition here changes weekly. It's been an up-and-down period, for the club not just for me. We've brought some level of calmness but at the minute it's a volatile situation on and off the pitch, with talk of ownership change and, on the pitch, not getting the results we want." On new loan signings Armando Broja and Orel Mangala: "Armando's got an injury so that'll take a bit of time. Orel's come in today, been bright and breezy, and wants to be part of the group. We'll assess it as we go on." On Seamus Coleman's apparent injury playing for the Republic of Ireland: "Seamus is touch and go but we'll see how he recovers from that." On Jarrad Branthwaite and Nathan Patterson fitness: "Jarrad is just [training] on the grass now so he's at the beginning of the process and Patto's the same. They're starting to train with us every day." On opponents Aston Villa: "The manager [Unai Emery] has done a tremendous job. They've invested, but invested well, which is not easy. They're a good outfit and they're learning with the more games that come round."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked you for your views on how Everton have started the season - and where you thought they might finish.
More than half of all respondents believe the Toffees will finish between 11th and 16th, but your comments suggest supporters are nervous about the final season at Goodison Park.
Here's a snapshot:Tommy: There is no need to panic yet. We have bought wisely during the summer. The squad is definitely better than it was last season. Give them a bit of time to settle and to learn from recent mistakes. There are still 35 games left, which is more than enough for us to settle into mid-table by the end of the season. Nothing has changed! Blue: If Everton continue with the current manager, then another dreadful season lies ahead. The combined ages of Seamus Coleman, Michael Keane, James Tarkowski and Ashley Young must rank as the oldest defence in the Premier League and Dyche continually picks them. Dyche also continues to pick his favourites when we have recently bought in good players. The stats don’t look good. Eric: New manager needed. New style for the players. No one prepared to appoint new manager. No one to decide. Best ground in the Championship next year mind you. Greg: A bit early for predictions. Need to put it into context with Everton. They lost the first three games last season and comfortably stayed up. I always like to see what the table looks like at the beginning of October. Let's see where we are then. Athers: Everton will never progress with the current manager! He is devoid of football intelligence and particularly in game reading and management. He did a decent job in helping the team avoid relegation; however he does not have the talent or ability to maximise the potential of this improved, but still limited squad. Time for change - but not David Moyes! i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2024/09/11/everton-topic-preview.jpg

Everton boss Sean Dyche has been speaking about his emotions after today's win: "Very pleased, a lot of hard work in the turnaround. We conceded a soft goal and we know we’ve got to correct that and we’ve done so well from that kind of situation. First phase and second phase set pieces. "The reaction was superb, particularly second half to take the game on. Lots of work to be done of course but it's another restart for us." On how the team were feeling: "When you haven’t got that first win you feel nervous. Then you go 1-0 down, the stadium becomes awkward for the players. "I spoke to them in the second half about being someone who makes a difference. It’s every person that counts, not just one. "I thought the feel of the second half was better, not just the quality. Dwight McNeil popping up with two goals for two different reasons and some good energy in our play and the big moments went for us today."

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgWe asked for your thoughts after Saturday's Premier League game between Everton and Crystal Palace.
Here are some of your comments:
Everton fansGeorge: First half lacked quality. Second half was the opposite - intensity, desire and cutting edge going forwards from Ndiaye, McNeil, Harrison, DCL. Back four looked much more solid. Unsung hero was Young - kept Eze very quiet. Stuart: Having been to all of Everton’s Premier League home games this season I think the manager’s main problem has been leaving substitutions either too late or targeting the wrong players apart from Saturday where, for once, Dyche got it right by replacing Lindstrom with Harrison at half time - it turned the game. Magnus: Scrappy win but still a win. One soft goal for each team and a great strike by McNeil made the difference. Hope this together with the Friedkin takeover creates stability and confidence so that the players can play at the level they have previously shown they are capable of. Greg: First half was awful and Lindstrom in particular was abysmal. I would have sacked Dyche at half time. Second half was better, well slightly but we're still inviting teams on. It puts unnecessary pressure on Pickford and the back four. Tarkowski looked a lot more like his old self probably because Branthwaite was back to bring a bit of calmness. i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/09/29/11/90235883-0-image-a-13_1727607125897.jpg
