Manchester United are exploring the possibility of signing Crystal Palace and defender Marc Guehi if they fail to strike a deal with Everton for Jarrad Branthwaite. The Blues have placed a minimum price tag of £80m on centre-back Branthwaite, who has also attracted interest from Newcastle United and Tottenham. Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a target for Newcastle United, who also have West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen on their wish list. Crystal Palace part-owner John Textor is stepping up his bid to buy Everton, with a proposed purchase by US-based investment group 777 Partners unlikely to go ahead.

The Sun reports that Everton owner Farhad Moshiri could be forced into a fire sale of the club's best players, external or have to put the Toffees into administration. A share purchase agreement set out between Moshiri and 777 Partners eight months ago ends on Friday and if their takeover bid is officially scrapped, it will open the door to a raft of sales to keep Everton afloat. Defender Jarrad Branthwaite is one of their prize assets having just been named in England's provisional squad for Euro 2024. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/685/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/5/29/5546d029-1436-46dc-8128-029ee61fee0c.png

Everton 'assessing options' as 777 miss takeover deadline..i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article13438356.ece/ALTERNATES/s298/0_Everton-v-Southampton-Premier-League.jpgEverton say they will "assess all options for future ownership" after the deadline for the sale of the club to 777 Partners expired. The US-based consortium agreed to buy majority owner Farhad Moshiri's 94% stake in the club in September 2023. 777 Partners were given until 5am on Saturday to complete their share purchase agreement of the Toffees but the deadline passed without resolution. Everton say they will "continue to operate as usual" as they look at their ownership options. The Miami-based investment firm had been expected to complete their takeover in 2023 but the deal was met with persistent delays as they failed to meet the Premier League's required conditions. After being granted an extension in February, the Premier League wrote to the club and Moshiri in May to say 777 Partners must provide proof of funds and turn their £200m loan to Everton into equity. Moshiri, who took a controlling stake of the club in 2016, has faced a backlash from supporters in recent years after presiding over a period of poor performances on and off the pitch. Everton posted losses of just under £400m for the four years between 2019 and 2023, which resulted in the club being docked a total of eight points for two seperate breaches of the Premier league's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). In May, Moshiri claimed he had received "unsolicited" approaches from other parties interested in the club. The Toffees are now expected to assess interest from other parties, before making a decision on how to progress.

Ex-Everton star Kevin Campbell 'very unwell' in hospital..ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/vivo/live/images/2024/6/3/4ddb5768-5750-4ebe-9d9f-3589ea352773.jpgEverton and Arsenal have sent messages of support to their former striker Kevin Campbell, who is "very unwell" in hospital. The Merseyside club said the 54-year-old, who began his career with the Gunners, became ill last week. "Not just a great footballer but an incredible person, Kevin is, and always has been, a fighter and we wish him and his family well at this challenging time. Sending all our love," Everton said in a statement posted on X., external On Monday, Arsenal wrote:, external "Everyone at the club is sending love to Kevin Campbell and his family, following news that our former striker is very unwell. "We're thinking of you." Campbell came through Arsenal's youth ranks, making his debut in 1988, and after loan stints at Leyton Orient and Leicester City, was a member of Arsenal's league title-winning squad in 1990–91. He helped the Gunners win the FA Cup and League Cup double in 1993, and the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1994. After spells with Nottingham Forest and Turkish side Trabzonspor, Campbell joined Everton on loan in March 1999, scoring nine goals in their final eight Premier League games to help the Toffees avoid relegation. Campbell then made a permanent move to Everton that summer and spent more than five seasons with the Toffees. He ended his career with spells at West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City, scoring a career total of 148 goals from 542 appearances, and has since worked as a media pundit. i2-prod.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article32947830.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200e/0_GettyImages-1774810482.jpg Kevin Campbell is loved by both Arsenal and Everton fans

ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2f7f/live/95709000-0915-11ef-bee9-6125e244a4cd.jpgEverton fans, we asked for your views on what needs to happen to the club and what the best outcome would be following the news that the agreement with 777 Partners expired over the weekend.
Here are some of your responses:
Jeff: I believe a German style model of ownership is a much better option for elite sports teams. German clubs follow the 50+1 rule, which promotes fan involvement and influence in decision-making processes. Under this rule, club members must hold a voting majority. Money is too important in the current Premier League model and it is damaging sport. Carl: Everton are founding members of the Football League and the Premier League. They have been in the top league for more years than any other club and are also one of the most successful English clubs ever. Add to that the massive fan base and a soon to be world class stadium, there should be a line of investors eager to take over. David: We need to finish the new stadium and move in as a Premier League club. Get the debt burden reduced or consolidated into a more manageable payment structure. Our owner needs to find suitable investors with Everton's best interests at heart to take the club forward and run it in a professional way. Right now it's run like a circus by a clown. Steve: Given that we don’t know who all the interested parties are, it’s really not possible to make a rational judgement. However, saying that, at this stage I would not be disappointed if John Textor became our next majority shareholder. Barry: The best option is for Moshiri to walk away and hand the club to someone who can pay the debts off, finish the stadium and then build the team from firm financial foundations. No more “billionaire plaything” - our club deserves better than that. Dom: We just need some stability, this whole season feels like a horrific rollercoaster. We just need a decision on how the club is moving forward. Fans need to be kept in the loop. It's a fans' club after all. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/3919/live/18fef880-1f37-11ef-bc37-a510d5d4787d.jpg

The 25-year-old is also interesting Everton, Crystal Palace and Wolves. Six Premier League clubs - Chelsea, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Leicester - face having to sell players before the end of June in order to comply with the division's Profit and Sustainability Rules. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/4eb7/live/4625bbf0-233d-11ef-baa7-25d483663b8e.jpgWe asked for you for your thoughts on what Everton's summer priority is.
Here is a selection of your responses:
Daniel: Number one priority is to keep our best players. If we sell our most valuable assets then it's another step backwards for Everton. Chris: Finances. Are we selling to buy? Selling to avoid points deductions? Selling to survive? It's hard to believe that a founder member of the league, the club that has spent the longest time in the top flight, a superb fan base and a distinguished trophy history cannot attract a buyer. Still, August is another season. Bill: The club needs stability - a vision for the whole club. Sell surplus and money-making players, give fans hope of better things to come, sort out who owns the club, and buy well - not the rubbish we have seen in recent years. And have a good holiday. Martin: We must have absolute clarity around the finances and any new ownership. I can't believe it all feels so uncertain - still! We need transparency/honesty which I would hope bring togetherness/solidarity. If we lose Branthwaite, a replacement is key. Then we need more goals! A creative midfielder and striker from seemingly thin air. Shaun: Sorting out ownership has to be the biggest priority. It casts a shadow over everything else that is done at Everton. There's no hope for a brighter future at the club until we know Moshiri's shares have been sold.

'Everton fans are the most worried in the entire league' - by Pat Nevin, Former footballer and presenter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/75ca/live/e70adf40-2267-11ef-93a1-31ae1bc20741.jpgEverton fans dreamt of surviving in the Premier League and no doubt they promised themselves a summer break from the stress, uncertainty and heartache. Unfortunately this is not a position they can enjoy at the moment, as Farhad Moshiri has failed again in his bid to sell the club to US-based consortium 777 Partners. We all know that buying a football club isn't like popping down to the club shop and buying the new replica kit with your favourite player's name and number on the back, but how complicated can it be? This has rumbled on for the best part of a year now. Other rumblings can be heard menacingly in the background about 777's suitability, and what level of certainty and security they can offer the Toffees if they get their act together. Everton fans, rather than being relieved and happy about Premier League survival, are actually the most worried fans in the entire league. For all the hope, the reality is that they are in limbo.

Roma owner Dan Friedkin interested in Everton takeover..by Shamoon Hafez, BBC Sport football news reporter & Nizaar Kinsella, BBC Sport football news reporter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/94c2/live/3f679c20-23f1-11ef-be3a-5974a3e5a1b3.jpgRoma owner Dan Friedkin has emerged as one of a number of parties interested in a takeover of Premier League club Everton. American businessman Friedkin, who has a reported net worth of £4.8bn, is aiming for an exclusivity agreement to purchase current owner Farhad Moshiri's 94% stake in the club. BBC Sport understands MSP Sports Capital and local businessmen Andy Bell and George Downing, who have lent the Toffees £158m, are also aiming for a takeover. Michael Dell, chief executive of Dell Technologies, and Kenneth King of investment firm A Cap are also in the mix. Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor expressed an interest in buying Everton last month and is looking to sell his 45% stake in the Eagles. Moshiri had agreed to sell the Blues to Miami-based investment firm 777 Partners in September but after a prolonged process, the sales and purchase agreement ended on 31st May.

Everton announce 'club record' Castore kit deal..by Shamoon Hafez, BBC Sport football news reporter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/c2dc/live/c086d5f0-2996-11ef-b932-27d3f03772f0.pngEverton have announced British sportswear manufacturer Castore as their new technical supplier in a "club record" multi-year deal for the start of next season. The Toffees' previous four-year deal with Danish brand Hummel reportedly brought in £9m a year, external but the new partnership with Castore is believed to be worth up to three times that amount. Castore, which was founded in Wirral in 2016, will also become a founding partner for the club's new 53,888-capacity stadium being built on Bramley-Moore Dock, granting access to commercial opportunities and media rights. Castore supply a stable of teams across football, F1, cricket and rugby league and will provide playing, training and travel wear for Everton's men's and women's teams. Everton chief commercial and communications officer Richard Kenyon said: "The agreement - another record deal for the club - sees us link up with an ambitious and innovative sportswear brand and comes at a historic time for Everton as we prepare for our stadium move."

Everton 'likely to be frosty' in response to United's Branthwaite approach.. by Simon Stone, Chief football news reporter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/2e01/live/f4d25290-2a1c-11ef-a427-217fb9597453.jpgEverton will look for a fee of at least £80m for Jarrad Branthwaite from Manchester United, who are understood to have already agreed personal terms with the defender's representatives. Now the transfer window has opened, United intend to speak to Everton about Branthwaite. The response is likely to be frosty. BBC Sport has been told Everton do not want to sell the 21-year-old, who many believe was unlucky to miss out on selection for England's European Championship squad. The club believe it is just a matter of time before Branthwaite becomes an England regular and rate him in the same bracket as Harry Maguire and Josko Gvardiol. Maguire cost United £80m when he joined from Leicester City in 2019. Gvardiol cost Manchester City 90m euros - at the time equating to £77m - when he moved from RB Leipzig last summer.

How does Branthwaite compare with England's defenders?..by Simon Stone, Chief football news reporter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/552b/live/b1cef830-2a31-11ef-b3b8-ed2dd2d12607.pngHow do his numbers for the 2023-24 Premier League season rank among England's best central defenders? When compared with City's John Stones, Lewis Dunk of Brighton, Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi and Maguire, Branthwaite emerges favourably in several key metrics. His tackles per match of 1.9, clean sheet average of 0.4 per match and minutes played of 3,117 lead the way against his counterparts. Branthwaite's top speed of 35.1 km/h is also comfortably ahead of peers and places him eighth out of all Premier League central defenders. His interceptions of 1.4 and clearances of 4.5 per game are level with Maguire. In a difficult season for Everton, made all the more challenging by their eventual eight-point deduction for breaching Premier league financial rules, the Carlisle United youth product emerged as a shining light in a defence that only the top three of City, Arsenal and Liverpool conceded less than.

That was the question we asked you to answer, with the transfer window set to open on Friday.
Here are some of your thoughts:
Ashley: Buy: Romelu Lukaku - hopefully he still feels there is unfinished business and he goes on a scoring rampage. Sell: Amadou Onana - after an amazing Euros, I think we will get mega money for him. Loan: Lewis Dobbin - unfortunately we let all of the under 21s' contracts expire, so I think I would pick him. Jeff: Buy: toxic turd Veerman - a good PSV midfielder who is relatively cheap. Sell: Dominic Calvert-Lewin - I think he is overrated but he is high on the radar of other teams, so I would cash in on him before he gets injured again. Loan (in): Lewis Morgan - I would take him on loan from New York Red Bulls when the MLS season ends in December. Neil: Buy: Ross Barkley from Luton Town. Sell: Amadou Onana. Loan: Ben Godfrey. I would also try to get Eddie Nketiah in on a loan. Brian: Buy: Find a young striker from the English Football League. Sell: Amadou Onana - getting rid of him for a decent amount of money makes sense because I feel he regards Everton as a 'stepping stone'. Loan: Neal Maupay - the clown needs loaning out again. Ross: Buy: Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds United. Sell: Jarrad Branthwaite - but this would have to be for the right price. Loan: Coby Ebere - he has a real talent that can be developed.

Here are some of your replies:
Lynette: He was an absolutely genuine guy. A fantastic player for us. He got us, he got the club. Kev had time for everyone. He was a great advocate of Everton. A legend scoring at Anfield too. Vinny: Super Kev - what more can we say? He saved us from the abyss and that will never be forgotten. He breezed into Goodison Park like a whirlwind, scoring goals for fun. Always in our hearts. Griff: When Everton were desperate for Premier League survival and they were in need of a hero, in came Kev. He not only inspired the team to survival, he proved to be a thoroughly amazing human being. A true blue Evertonian. Ste: Kev will always be an Everton legend, a hero, a man of the people. He always took time to speak to us fans and was always smiling. Adedarcy: Kevin joined us and single-handedly saved us from relegation. He will never be forgotten for what he did for the Toffees, what a fantastic human being. He will never be forgotten for what he did at Goodison Park and scoring the winner against Liverpool in 1999. God bless him. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/20e2/live/2d882860-2b0a-11ef-bf74-4ff58a2d1c83.jpg

'No change in the ownership situation'..by Giulia Bould. BBC Radio Merseyside reporter.ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/9206/live/5f8523a0-2cad-11ef-af93-b7f65a764945.jpgAs ever with Everton there is a constant swirl of headlines and social media rumours, but right now there is no change in the ownership situation. I understand Dan Friedkin remains in pole position to buy Farhad Moshiri's majority share in the Toffees, but there is still a way to go before the deal is done. Even if the Roma owner gets an exclusivity deal put in place to begin the purchase of Moshiri's 94% stake, there will also have to be the Premier League owners and directors test, plus regulatory approvals. However, it is fair to say the process should not take as long as the, now failed, takeover by 777 Partners. The Miami-based investment group first announced their plans to buy Everton in September 2023 and missed the final deadline to agree the deal on 1st June. ichef.bbci.co.uk/news/800/cpsprodpb/e9a9/live/5f92fcb0-2d65-11ef-b532-0764c234387c.jpg
