Well done to NZ, they edged a close match. Jordan and Woakes have bowled well throughout but each bowled 1 poor over and that was it. The margins in a T20 match are so fine that if you don’t bowl the line you should then you lose. But after the World Cup 2 years ago when we had the luck this time NZ had the fortune with that brilliant ‘non-catch’ by Bairstow at the end. It happens. Good luck to them in the final.

Listened to the denouement of both semi-finals. Both close games, both played in excellent spirit (even the Aussies). Football could learn from this. Go Kiwis.

I don't think football can learn anything from the fact that Australia had two proven cheats (Warner & Smith) playing for them. Their International playing careers should have ended after the fiasco in South Africa.

Of all the ways to be ruled out of a World Cup final...
New Zealand's Devon Conway will miss Sunday's showpiece against Australia at the T20 World Cup after breaking his hand punching his own bat.
He picked up the injury when hitting his bat in frustration after being dismissed in the Black Caps' semi-final win over England on Wednesday.
Scans have revealed the 30-year-old broke his fifth metacarpal in his right hand.
"He's absolutely gutted to be ruled out like this at this time," coach Gary Stead said.
"He's very remorseful with himself and feels as though he has let the team down. We know we'll miss him.
"It looked a pretty innocuous reactionary incident on the field, but the blow obviously caught the bat between the glove padding and while it's not the smartest thing he's done there's certainly an element of bad luck in the injury."
Conway, who kept wicket in New Zealand's past five games, was stumped off Liam Livingstone for 46 - at which point his side needed 72 from 38 balls.
He scored 129 runs in six innings at an average of 32.25 in the World Cup.
He will also miss the two-Test series in India which starts on 25 November.
Reminds me of some idiotic self inflicted injuries, Dave Beasant, Denis Shapovalov disqualified after hitting umpire, Darren Barnard, Darius Vassell, Rio Ferdinand, Paulo Diogo, Bryan Robson with Gazza & Leroy Lita to name but a few.

I was pretty disappointed with the T20 World Cup. The pitches were not good enough. It really was a competition where the team winning the toss won the match.

Well done Australia (said through gritted teeth!). They weren’t even amongst the best three sides in the competition but they found a way to play well over a 4/5 over spell when needed. They had the mental advantage over NZ and in that match probably played the best match of their tournament. Not a bad thing to do! Loads of ifs and buts about how England did, the injuries to Mills and Archer and Roy did effect the team esp Roy’s so late into the tournament. And I bet Devon Conway regrets hitting his bat!
I’ve just read about the next World Cup T20 next year in Australia! How did that come around so soon? Surely not.

Australia wins a tournament again is not much of a story. I think England v Pakistan would have been a far compelling event but ho-hum they deserved it and have that nice boost in confidence ahead of the Ashes....

The 2022 ICC Men's T20 World Cup is scheduled to be the eighth ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament.
It is scheduled to be played in Australia from 16 October to 13 November 2022.
Originally, the tournament was to be held in 2020, however, in July 2020, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the tournament had been postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In August 2020, the ICC also confirmed that Australia would host the rearranged tournament in 2022, with the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in India in 2021 as originally planned, but was later moved to UAE and Oman.
On 21 January 2022, the ICC confirmed all the fixtures for the tournament.
Hosts Australia are also the defending champions.

Jonny Bairstow: England batter out until 2023 after surgery.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/86D4/production/_126961543_gettyimages-1418131774.jpgEngland batter Jonny Bairstow has successfully undergone surgery on a broken leg and dislocated ankle, and confirmed he will not play again this year. Bairstow, 33, had already been ruled out of this month's Twenty20 World Cup after sustaining the injury while playing golf. He slipped walking to a tee box. The Yorkshireman also missed the final Test of England's home summer series with South Africa. In an interview with the Telegraph, Bairstow said he "heard it snap straight away". Bairstow had been in brilliant form in 2022, scoring 1,061 runs and six centuries in 10 Tests, and remains a key part of England's white-ball teams. "Normally when you slip you fall on your bum, which would have been fine as there's plenty of cushion in there," he told the Telegraph. "Except this time I tried to regain my balance, my left ankle turned right, dislocated and my weight went through my left lower leg. I heard it snap straight away. "I took a couple of steps down then slipped. By the time I crumpled into a heap, I was three-quarters of the way down. It's all a blur, it happened so quickly. "I yelped. Uncontrollable screams, the sort you hear on a rugby field. The adrenaline kicked in, and I knew I needed an ambulance. The next three hours without painkillers were not too fun." Jasprit Bumrah: India bowler ruled out of T20 World Cup.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/16EBD/production/_126958839_gettyimages-1407711044.jpgBumrsh has taken 70 wickets in 60 T20 internationals India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2022 Men's T20 World Cup with a back stress fracture. The 28-year-old, one of the best bowlers in the world, recently pulled out of India's T20 series against South Africa with a back issue. India say the decision was taken after "detailed assessment and in consultation with the specialists". They are seen as one of the favourites for the tournament which begins later this month. India are already without all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who has a right knee injury. A replacement for Bumrah will be announced "soon", the Board of Control for Cricket in India said, with Mohammed Shami and Deepak Chahar the other pace bowlers on their reserve list. The BCCI did not specify Bumrah's injury but the International Cricket Council called it a back stress fracture. India's first match of the World Cup is against rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 23 October. The preliminary stage of the tournament starts on 16 October before the main group phase follows from 22 October.

Shimron Hetmyer: West Indies batter ruled out of Men's T20 World Cup after missing flight.ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/9368/production/_126963773_shimronhetmyerofwestindiesplaysashotaskusalpereraofsrilanka.jpgHetmyer has played 50 T20s for West Indies since 2018 West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer will not play at the Men's T20 World Cup after he missed a rescheduled flight to Australia before the tournament. Hetmyer's flight was moved from Saturday to Monday for family reasons, meaning he would miss the first of two T20 warm-ups against Australia on Wednesday. The 25-year-old has been replaced by Shamarh Brooks. Cricket West Indies (CWI) said it had "no choice but to replace him". Jimmy Adams, the CWI's director of cricket, said: "Whilst we changed Shimron's flight from Saturday to Monday due to family reasons, it was made clear to him that if there were any further delays and issues with his travel to Australia then we would have no choice but to replace him in the squad. "We are not prepared to compromise the team's ability to prepare for this extremely important global event." West Indies begin their T20 World Cup campaign against Scotland in the first-round group stage at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on 17 October. As well as two warm-up games against Australia, Phil Simmons' side will also play the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands in preparation for the tournament. Adams confirmed Brooks, 34, would fly out as soon as possible to meet up with the squad.

Well done bt. Good idea to combine them, has come around quickly.
At home Australia will be favourites but SA do well there so perhaps in with a chance. Despite nerves England will always be in the mix and after a close but good series v Pakistan they should be confident. Pakistan will always be able to win any single match and if they can put 5/6 good games together then they will be difficult to beat. And in Babar and Rizwan they have two of the best T20 batsmen in the world. About time India clicked at a World Cup. I’d say it could be the most open competition we’ve seen for some time. Looking forward to it.

That’s a bit of a forlorn hope Nobby! England always overthink stuff and try and be too clever. But I agree Harry Brook should play. But then I don’t think Roy should have been dropped. He would be better suited to the hard, fast wickets they will get in Australia.
