I've been watching on BT Sport. Wouldn't Alistair Cook, even now, be better than any of the openers we have in Australia? Moheen Ali is talking as well. Why isn't he down there, with Rashid as well. Moheen retired from Test cricket. Rashid much prefers white ball cricket. Given the paucity of alternatives, if both had been available I`d have played them. At least they can both bat.
I understand that, but the question to be asked is why? Why was Moheen Ali messed about? Why doesn't Rashid want to play Test cricket? Can you imagine a spinner like Shane Warne saying 'nah' to Test cricket?

Lunch - 2.52amEngland 36-4, Crawley 18, Root 0 Normal service resumed. A follow on is lurking. Well, what an afternoon session that was, Bairstow and Stokes had great fun, except when Bairstow got hit on the thumb, that must have hurt. England 258-7, Bairstow 103no, Stokes 66, Wood 39 & that 'man' extras 19 - 158 behind. So far then, that man "Extras" has scored more runs in this innings than six of the English batsmen ! You can see why he was the third highest run scorer for England in 2021 !

A sourdough loaf and blueberry muffin? Are you pretending to be a Merican today?
Something extremely puzzling took place, while I was in Joe`s Bakery. I asked the lady if I could have a taste of her muffin before I committed to paying for it, and she had me thrown out of the shop. Could somebody please explain what I did wrong?
I share your pain Alf. I once had a very attractive young lady if I preferred legs or breasts. I replied that I preferred a nice shaved pussy. Now I'm banned from KFC. Tsk, this modern world can be quite confusing.

*I have read the Evening Post, from cover to back, every day for the last 47 years (apart from Sunday's of course) and not once did they mention Ian Thorpe swimming in the Feeder.
*I may or may not have made that up.
Jeez Nobby. It was in the Western Daily Press* *I did NOT make that bit up. I never read that commie rag ! So I'll concede the point.

Has Ian Thorpe ever swam in the Feeder eh? Where on earth do you think he trained for the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, plus various World Championships? He was just too fast for the sharks. (And the jets too) *I have read the Evening Post, from cover to back, every day for the last 47 years (apart from Sunday's of course) and not once did they mention Ian Thorpe swimming in the Feeder.

A sourdough loaf and blueberry muffin? Are you pretending to be a Merican today? To prove yourself korrect why don't you go for a swim in the Feeder today and see if you get eaten by a shark, like wot happens to everyone that goes swimming in Australia.
Everyone who swims in Australia gets eaten by a shark in the Feeder? Ian Thorpe didn't. Ha, wrong again Nobby. 😎 Has Ian Thorpe ever swam in the Feeder eh?

I said this was going to happen. The rain that was falling over Joe`s Bakery, as I emerged with my sourdough loaf and blueberry muffin, did indeed end up curtailing the day`s play at the SCG. Nobby can ridikule my ignerunce as much as he likes, but yet again I`m proved right. A sourdough loaf and blueberry muffin? Are you pretending to be a Merican today? To prove yourself korrect why don't you go for a swim in the Feeder today and see if you get eaten by a shark, like wot happens to everyone that goes swimming in Australia.

You are taking things far too seriously IMO. No point in having a message board unless we can argue out our differences. I've not looked at that exchange since the day it was written, but suspect that I played my part in ramping things up, if that's the case then I'm sorry that I did that. Water under the bridge, onwards and upwards, but thank you for the message, it's appreciated. Great stuff. And while we`re at it, I`d like to apologise to basel for suggesting that he has the same relationship with B*****, that Monica Lewinski had with Bill Clinton. Sorry, basel.
Wey hey! Great stuff ! Break out the cigars...........oh, hang on......

You fule, that forecast is for where you live! I know that. It said, rain over the Bristol area will spread south. Satisfied? No I am not. Everyone knows that to reach Australia you set your compass to south east and then take a left towards the end. It ain't south!

England's team for the next Test :- England Men's XI for third Ashes Test: Haseeb Hameed, Zak Crawley, Dawid Malan, Joe Root (c), Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler (wk), Mark Wood, Jack Leach, Stuart Broad, James Anderson. A flaky opening pair with an under-performing middle order plus a long tail. 5 rainy days forecast, according to BBC weather. You fule, that forecast is for where you live!

Australia batter Travis Head will be unavailable for the fourth Ashes Test after testing positive for Covid-19. Head, Australia's leading run-scorer after three Tests, must stay in Melbourne and isolate for seven days. Head is the first player to test positive during the series, following multiple positives among support staff. So will that mean England only face 10 ,in order to give them a bit of help, 😉 Australia will still win inside three days with ten men.

Well, I hope you`re not insinuating that it`s because they`re a nation descended from criminals, who still have a chip on their shoulder regarding the mother country. A nation where haute cuisine consists of putting a tomato on their beefburger, and where "Tie me kangaroo down, sport", passes for a love song.Surely nobody would insinuate something so patently untrue. "Are the conditions in England really so different from Australia that scoring is that much harder here?" Of course they are. Although they regularly thrash us in Australia, they haven`t won a series here for two decades. In bold - You say that as if it's a bad thing !

One point I've picked up and it reminds me of the talk we were having earlier about Tresco being picked for England when he didn't have a very good record in County Cricket. The top run scorer in this Ashes series so far is Travis Head. Last Summer, he played for Sussex in the County Championship, and only averaged 18 !

Knowing very little about cricket, but interested in the Ashes... I would just have to say that Australia are 9/1 for a 5-0 victory. Which looks decent odds to me. A little tighter now, 5-4 at best! They could have saved a lot of time and money by playing the Fourth Test straight away at the end of the Third Test. There was still two whole days and two sessions left. Plenty of time for the Aussies to win again. They should have just tossed up and carried on playing.

That's right. Four day cricket in England has been reduced to a Spring and Autumn competition. The 100 has to go. What is the point when you also have T20?

. I'm not certain on this but I think EFL rules state that if lose a figure of more than 30 something million in 3 years you have broken the fin fair play and will invoke a derby County style points deduction? Thus they will have to make a profit that more or less offsets their loss in the previous season? If that's the case they are up the thingy without a thingy, large scale selling on the way with no money to spend and then a relegation. The fair play rules mean nothing. How do you think PSG can afford the players they got when their attendance is about 45,000?
Derby are knackered as they didn't pay their taxes.

The difference bring is that " his" investment is probably funded from his business and doubt very much he actually notices the deficit in his personal nat West account He's worth something like 1.5 billion? The yearly interest on that alone is probably worth 70 or 80 million. 38 million wouldn't worry him.
