We’ve had many good keepers at Rovers over the years, James must rank as one of the best. Congratulations Mr Belshaw, well deserved.

He was doing his job as a professional, protecting the players. An outpouring of joy spilling on to the pitch can be forgiven but what I witnessed was bordering on moronic that went beyond that. I dont blame the ref at all.

For gawds sake no. Parades should be reserved for when England win something, FA Cup Winners, European Cup Winners. End of.

It’s not the fact that I cant get a ticket that annoys me, as others have mentioned I could have hedged my bets and bought a ticket weeks ago, given. But its the lack of an alternative to going to the match that bugs me out. Pseudo-live text or radio if we’re lucky, come on ffs its 2022 not 1982.

Before anyone offers me a ticket at £200, please don't, I'm desperate but not that desperate.

We were lucky enough to get one of the recently released tickets for the Scunny match, unfortunately there are two us hoping to travel from Cambridge.
So with the very remote chance that anyone has a spare come Saturday please PM me, on top of the ticket price I will buy you a pint/gin/Bovril as a reward for your endeavour.
Regardless I hope all lucky ticket holders have a truly memorable day.

I think every team in the top 10 need to win their final game, albeit for Champion, promo or play-off positions

Wael, we are now in the home straight and come five o’clock Saturday, we will have much better idea of where we stand. The buzz at the ground for those of you lucky enough to have a ticket will be awesome - I haven’t tried on line a week ago and all tickets were already sold out! So depending on how the results go, it’s feasible that 5 O’clock, the final auto spot could be occupied by us and in our hands. Could we then see it through, bearing in mind we have a tricky but winnable game away to Rochdale. With Port Vale not playing until the following Monday the pressure now reverts to us. How on earth, bearing in mind a very poor start , did we get to this position, when we are fighting it out for an auto. Well, there’s the Geordie Maradona, who gets the headlines for some sublime winning goals then there’s Connor stoking up the troops and Coutt’s outside my head has been immense, and let’s be fair, to a man, they have all been bloody marvellous! But in a photograph finish Player of the Season goes to our superb Centre Back James Belshaw ( as picked out by KP ) With a little Friar Tuck I believe in JB and his Merry men could pull it off and give to the poor some badly needed success! UTG Reckon the pressure is on FGR, if they lose and other results dont go their way, not only does it risk them losing the title but also questions whether they will even remain in a promotion spot by the end of the season. This is a must not lose game for them and a must win game for us.

It's a shame, but it is what it is. Apparently it's indicative of the town as a whole. I assume their iron industries went years ago Bloo.Never really been replaced with something else then. In the scenario a decent new owner can be found,3000 to 5000 home fans ought to see the Iron at least not drop down yet another division and have a good chance of challenging. Seems to me,dropping from 5th to 6th tier can bring on a slide the likes of Workington have experienced. On the other hand, the likes of eg Wimbledon, Stockport County and Newport County show us FCs can make excellent comebacks. It'll be interesting to see how Bury do.I think they'll be back in action next season. Not forgetting Luton Town, from non league to Premier League (possibly), and if successful, the ultimate comeback and first club to do so.

Why this is of any interest to anyone is baffling. "Bang average player has shave". Harsh, Rovers legend imho, contributed more than just his overall footballing ability- his work ethic, tenacity and attitude was a joy to watch and no doubt to play alongside. All hail The (no)Beard.

Tremendous performance once again with the Gasheads in fine voice. I didn’t hear one fan complaining that JB isn’t fit to manage Rovers, Shoveller et el must have stayed at home. I thought we ceded possession to them in the 2nd half which I don’t like. A more competent team would have scored 1, possibly 2 goals. I hope Anderson and the others were taken off for rotation reasons. As good as Loft was on Saturday so he was as bad last night. UTG According to BBC, Anderson was taken off due to an injury.

We have played Peterborough 45 times, W14, D15 & L16, We have won 4-0 & 4-1 and lost 5-2, 5-4 & 4-1. We last beat them away on the 25th Feb 2006 1-2 in league two. Peterborough were formed in 1934 and play at London road which has a capacity of 15,314. Peterborough United are nicknamed "The Posh", a moniker coined in 1921, after Pat Tirrell, manager of Fletton United, was reported to say he was "Looking for posh players for a posh new team". When Fletton United looked to join the Southern League in 1923 they added Peterborough to their name to form Peterborough & Fletton United, in an attempt to gain the backing of businesses in Peterborough. Peterborough & Fletton United went bankrupt in October 1932 so the current club is the third to be known as The Posh. However, the term "posh" was used as a derogatory term for the club by the press. According to the Football Fans Census, Cambridge United were considered to be the club's main rival. Their manager is Darren Ferguson who is in his 3rd spell with the posh. Also their u18's manager is Jamal Campbell-Ryce who scored a wonder goal and was clapped by Gas fans when he was subbed at the end. Along with Ferguson, Barry Fry is their other big notable manager with nearly 1000 games between them. Highest Transfer Fee Received- a fee around £7m (rising to £10m) from Brentford for Ivan Toney, August 2020 Highest Transfer Fee Paid – A fee exceeding £1.25m to Bristol City for Mo Eisa, June 2019. A tenuous yet curious link to Bristol Rovers. A former girlfriend of mine whose grandad was Mr Posh, Patrick Nevin McAlpin. ‘He used to lead the team out ringing his bell to the sound of The Post Horn Gallop and would then take his perch behind the goal with Posh supporters stirring them to cheer his beloved team to victory. When Posh scored he would leap to his feet and ring his bell with the crowd naturally responding. During the many famous FA Cup matches that Posh were involved in during the 50’s Nevin, as Mr. Posh, could be seen on the platform greeting thousands of Posh fans travelling by special trains to away cup ties. On 26th January 1957, on one of the special trains which were carrying supporters to Huddersfield Mr Posh could also be found on the front of the engine!’ (Src: www.theposhtrust.co.uk/museum/mr-posh)Nevins daughter married a Cureton, that Cureton had a brother whose wife gave birth to a son, Jamie. Jamie Cureton went on to make 176 appearances for Bristol Rovers.

I have a similar feeling about this thread as the famous 'Oh yes' thread from some time ago. It was childish but it did make me smile.

Its the speed if the ball that is the issue. The modern ball accelerates faster due to the materials and construction methods used. The mass of the ball hasn't changed. Using Newtons second law of motion (force = mass x acceleration) the force exerted on a players head would have increased over time. So the problem of long term brain injury could be worse for players of today.
