Have to say that in recent years I don't think as a team we resort to the sort of antics displayed by Eastleigh on Saturday - we have been 'mugged' on numerous occasions at home by teams who play the 'professional' game as alluded to
I think we are too 'nice' on occasions and whilst I despise what far too many teams do it is really up to officials to sort it out which they then palpably fail to do!
It is part of the malaise that affects football in general which the F A could and should clear up quickly - it makes me laugh when a pundit on tv says a player should not be booked or sent off early because it would spoil the game - sorry but that is simply crap If I was a referee I don't think I would last to long some teams would be down to 8/9 players!

Harrison has had enough game time over the past few years to show that he is NOT up to the mark IMO He lacks some of the basics to make a decent footballer despite Wales call ups
To say that by giving him a prolonged spell would then possibly / probably show is a better bet then than a fully fit / half fit Matty Taylor defies belief - there is simply NO comparison

Wouldn't have been very funny if he landed on his head / neck - assume that both players were red carded or should have been if not!

Agree that Blissett has not really performed since he played against us imo! As for Taylor I think you are being little over harsh - yes he is not a natural goal scorer but his ability on the floor / ball control and even in the air (for his size) and work rate he is well worth his selection I have never seen anything much in Ellis to confirm he should be playing regularly - poor control / poor decision making and the only improvement has been his attitude Would prefer to see Easter / Taylor

Guess most on here are happy with the massive increase in islamic extremism and everything that goes with it .does anyone listen to the news! Fair play to them. Not at all happy with it. But I'd rather drown in my own vomit than think that a load of bullet head Alf Garnetts on a pub crawl are representing my views. I prefer hope to hate. Agree with your sentiments but afraid that in the longer term (but not that long) HOPE will not be enough! We are sleep walking into .........

Here we go again people being overly worried about the 'injustice' of how some are treated although to be fair I can understand the concern over comparative sentencing generally
However you need to be in amongst the trouble to get into trouble with the police / authorities - some people just cant control themselves and some go clearly looking for it!
I have supported Rovers for nearly 50 years and in that time I have not got into trouble inside or outside football grounds but been frequently alarmed at the so called 'antics' of some both home and away
Do I cheer, sing and support yes ..... do I get frustrated and negative on occasions yes .....have ever insulted someone at a game or physically threatened them ..no Does that make me any 'poorer' as a supporter ...no IMO

Rule one - don't make assumptions - maybe everyone does not think the same as you - perhaps some dont want to move from the Mem?

Personally know the fella and he's a good lad and does a lot of work with youth development at Henbury , shouldn't be so hard to judge mate it's not as if he's a nonce whereas the judge rather ironically who administered punishment for these 82er fans and ours that were nicked in fact let a convicted sex offender off last January with a suspended sentence ,an offender with 40 previous convictions of downloading noncing amongst other things, let's put things into perspective here. Your bar for 'a good lad' appears me to be 'not a nonce'. Its not the highest, really he's a good lad ....... Hmmm wonder how a 'bad lad' would be defined in your dictionary ..... sorry but with respect to you that is unbelievable!

Premier League wages which 'filter' down to lower levels where clubs cannot sustain the expenditure against income No money going to grass roots facilities in real terms Too many foreign players which then blights our national team chances Sky now have a virtual monopoly over all sporting rights unless you pay subscription to view FA the organisation which is suppose to run our football is a lap dog of Sky/ Premier League the list could continue..........

I have never understood this holier than thou pride stuff. I would be happy to be in the top on league 1 and going into the championship. It is only the bragging rights used in banter exchanges that it is of any benefit. It depends on what you want football to be like and what 'sacrifices' you are happy with? Would you want Rovers to play in red just because an Asian chairman wants it - I wouldn't
Football is a financial cesspit and has been for many Most clubs including ours are not run on a business basis - in the normal commercial world they would just go bust but you have chairmen chasing the dream ploughing in millions of their own money and the premier league / sky deal further distorting matters in an unhealthy way
If the premier league and football agents didn't exists our local and national game would be in far better shape

A GROUP of mostly middle-aged Bristol City fans who lashed out at police before a City versus Rovers derby have been told by a judge: "You are old enough to know better."
Sadly as a club we also need to look in the mirror - some of the people that I see behaving badly at our home and away games fall into the age category of 30's and above - no doubt they have children - what dreadful role models they are!!

"Some people always moan". We've gone from League 1 to the Confererence in 4 years, not 1 but 2 stadium schemes have hit the skids, and the club is still run like a circus. If you're not unhappy with that, you're part of the problem - just sitting back and being fed whatever you're given. Clarke and the players don't deserve criticism in fairness, they're doing a professional job, but if beating part time sides makes you happy then you've got very low standards for the club. As for our new poster's "folk who don't go to games" comment - people have all kinds of reasons for not going, don't be so crass. Plus you don't need a season ticket to work out that the last 5 years has gone wrong - tune into BBC1 after MOTD and notice that we're not on the Football League show, you happy clappy idiot. Couldn't agree more with you!
As a club we have done absolutely nothing in real progressive terms since inception!
At one time what you did ON the field was the most important factor and people put up with crap facilities / marketing didn't really exist and people did not place much emphasis on 'value for money' Times have changed but the way the club is run hasn't - still like something out of the 50's and 60's and as I have said before even if UWE was still to happen I am NOT confident that present owners / board would run it correctly!
We all want the team and club to be successful - some of us like me are a season ticket holder / some are less frequent attendees so lets not get the idea into everyone's head that just because you attend EVERY game it makes you better than anyone else who attends
Everyone especially a newcomer is certain to compare what they are offered as a match day experience and frankly we are hopeless It amazes me that we still draw very good crowds and shows what huge potential this club has However what we are lacking is vision and I for one am fed up with seeing 'smaller' club both improving and developing whilst we languish!

I said on a different thread sometime ago that this has always been the case and still is
In the market for people's income it is about how you run a club - you can do this professionally whether small or large it is the ethos that needs to be correct for today's standards
Guess we have all been to away clubs over say the past 10 years who although 'smaller' in terms of fan base appear to be run so differently to Rovers - the ground/ facilities / food / bars etc
Whatever does or does not happen re UWE the club HAS to invest in 'rebranding' / updating the Mem significantly and the owners NEED to listen and implement supporter's suggestions or else there will be further decline
As for City much as it pains me to say there are so far ahead now both on and off the field that any comparisons are worthless

I have never really shopped at Sainsburys anywhere in the past and certainly would not do in the future and will be encouraging others not to do as well
when shopping locally my choices are firmly:
1. Lidls 2. Co op 3. M and S 4 (and I would have to be desperate) -Waitrose

Well I am hoping that there may still be a positive ending!
If we look at what has happened we have been dogged by bad luck as much as timing ....... stupid trash / change of shopping habits / change of CEO at Sainsbury but the biggest culprits are TRASH who but for their actions and ultimate delays we would already be starting the stadium - I personally will not forgive any of them and hope that some form of bad Karma affects them!
However IF the contract is watertight and we have as it appears met ALL the conditions in the small print then surely any Judge will not allow Sainsburys not to commit just because it no longer suits them commercially? Hopefully if he is in possession of ALL the facts and build up surrounding the case old he may side with 'the people' / relative 'minnows' and NOT the commercial giant?
One way or another in due course we will know whether the board have to their best of ability tried to deliver what we all want or if major shortcomings are shown to be true then they will have little alternative but to quit due to lack of credibility?

This is from Leicester FC site:
Another addition to the squad for the 2013/14 season, Dawson proved to be a highly effective force on both flanks for the Foxes in their hunt for a top half finish. The highly-rated former Bury and Liverpool youngster joined City after a spell with Wigan, and immediately impressed with his trickery, creative spark and eye for goal.
I know the father of one regular first teamer at LCFC so if he gives me further info I will post something further here

If you asked a random 100 or 1000 Rovers fans the same questions about what is wrong with the club I think you would find almost complete agreement how they see matters both off and on the field over the past few years
For those of us who have tried to suggest even the most nominal / minimal capital outlay to improve matters for the club both financial and marketing wise nothing seems to be taken on board meaning that ultimately the club loses valuable income and PR etc
IF and it is a VERY BIG IF UWE was to happen I am convinced that in the absence of change of structure and staff the whole project would be probably 'fail' to progress as other clubs have done

Great piece of writing Nick - many of us have felt like for years!
If you want to get England going in the right direction get the Premiers League to stop the ever decreasing percentage of home grown players appearing the P L teams - I think we are now down to about 23% representation of British players? Introduce a higher number of home grown players that MUST appear in every starting 11 team sheet
And by the way has Mr Dyke returned his £20k watch?
When he was appointed I thought he would be good for the game how wrong I have been
Finally how on earth did they come to choose such poor people to be on the 'commission' in the first place? Terrible selection for the most part

speed of thought is light years quicker than the others ........ reminds me of a certain R Lambert! We really should have used him more in the second half - he was always calling for the ball but didn't get that often!
