To not be part of BRISTOL SPORT. We are BRISTOL ROVERS FOOTBALL CLUB and forever more will be so. How sad to see our great rivals dead and part of the Bristol Sport Franchise. OK they are doing great this season but are Bristol City only in name not even the 82ers anymore but just a bit part of the BRISTOL SPORT FRANCHISE. Slowly (or quickly as it seems now when you see them on TV) they are losing their identity in their quest to regain former glories. Ok we are a non league team but whatever the future holds for us I pray that we retain our identity. We are Bristol Rovers 1883 and can stand proud. If we wave a scarf it is the scarf of our club, our tradition..ok we probably haven't been given it free but it retains our history..the good times ,the bad times and the in betweens . Lets be proud of this.
WE now have something in common with Wimbledon and that is that our deadly rivals are a franchise. The good times will come back for us in the future-football is like that but when it does will the derby be Bristol Rovers v Bristol City...very unlikely more like Bristol Rovers v Bristol Sport Football section.

We can do better than this.
If the High Court Judge rules in favour of Sainsburys and (although hard to contemplate) MSP Capital call in an Administrator at the end of this year to sell our assets so that their loan may be repaid all will not be lost. By standing together, shoulder to wallet, we can proudly preserve our identity and reinvent our glorious past by once again becoming Bristol Eastville Rovers FC playing our games at Eastville Park and competing in the Bristol and Suburban Association Football League (founded 1894).
We may not have a free scarf to wave, we may not even have free underwear to cover our ragged asses, but at least we will still have our pride. And when the great day comes, and once again the courageous warriors of Bristol Eastville Rovers FC are pitted in a ferocious derby match against the cowardly plastic cheats of Bristol Sport 1882 Ltd Lansdown Franchise City FC, we will all be dead. .

"We are Bristol Rovers 1883" until we lose the court case and we might then become Bristol Rovers 2015!
I'd of thought it's best we kept a low profile until the outcome of the May's court case is known?

Much as I dislike our rival, I don't get all this. Barcelona have a similar multi-sport setup, anybody saying that they aren't a proper football club?

Barcelona set up there own clubs, similar in Germany and other countries in Europe (1860 Munich weren't formed as a football team in 1860 but as a sports institute). What Stevie Boy is doing is wolfing up clubs and sticking them under one branding. It's completely different to what happens in other countries.

I'm proud to be a Gashead but I can't really say it feels like an honour supporting a football club whose ownership seems to merely tolerate it's supporters, rather than embracing the fantastic following the club receives every week. At least "Sittee's" cringeworthy free scarves for the television game actively looked to involve supporters, rather than them being viewed as some sort of afterthought who just happen to fund the player's wages and interest on the debts.

They only tolerate up to a certain point. Constant, or was it consistant criticism will get you a life ban. Higgs and his mates should read this forum, they have maybe the most loyal support base in the country, just look at the reaction to a 1-0 away win last Saturday. Well over 6000 will turn up this Saturday to watch 5th tier football in a mess of a stadium. This board simply don't deserve the support the club has.

How to turn a great subject into "slag the board" tread in one easy lesson Those in glass houses.... When we're a supporter backed club in Wycombe, Exeter or Portsmouth's position in the football league we'll be able to mock the men's soccer division of the Bristol Sport Franchise until the cows come home, but unless that day ever happens we are far worse off than them! Edit: As an aside, who would have thought Matt Tubbs would only score one in seven for Portsmouth whilst Ryan Brunt would get two in five for Plymouth? Funny old game.

It all depends on how much of a life time I have left!!! And nobody knows that!!! At this moment it looks most unlikely but there again who would have thought a few years back that we would now be a non league club?
