He isn't small, just not as tall as Mildenhall, and I have never really bought into the 'tall is better' thing with footballers. In fact, when I see an exceptionally tall player in any position my first thought tends to be that they have only got to be a footballer because of their height, and that they probably won't be that good a player. I think Puddy is a decent keeper, and we won't get much better at the moment.
Rex, I do actually agree with you about height generally. Some of the best lower toague players I've seen (when at their peak) were Cox of Orient, Stu Campbell and Johnson's son ! But you must remember what L2 was like - you do need height and players GOOD IN THE AIR along the spine of the team. Puddy had pretty much nothing to do last season that won't be the case in L2 and for me he doesn't take crosses at all wl when challenged by opponents - not because he isn't brave cos he is, but because he doesn't have height advantage. I actually think he is no worse than Mildenhall but I would like us to sign someone better than these two :-) Have to agree Mark the L2 mantra is bigger, stronger, 'better'. The logic that he had a great last dozen or so games ignores the fact of how many of those games were we & him under pressure in? When he was pressured at Dover physically we conceded regardless of foul or not that did come down to size, L2 managers will have seen that. At Wembley under pressure he inexplicably came charging out of his box on 3 occasions in the first 20 or so, now that isn't about size but it is about handling pressure. I think personally he would be a great & cost effective number 2 in L2 but I would be looking for better whether that is mildenhall or somewhere else. The offers to the 8 , I fear ,smacks a bit of 'their a great bunch of players that have done well by me so I need to stand by them' unfortunately sentiment won't count for much once we kick off next season

It's held in Portugal every year. Perhaps the League have a timeshare they need to utilise. I believe GD always used to go on our behalf. I hear that Ken Masters is representing us this year. As and when we get the share transferred to us, it would be nice to swap it with the one Cambridge hold. After all, we held that one for years. I don't mind going on our behalf this year You'd be more use out there than Masters, which I know is only faint praise

Bloody glad blather has gone.
But disagree with some of what Irish says though. Undoubtedly we (as in Europe) have happily horse traded within Europe but only a Jordanian Prince could be put up. Ern the reason for that was to get the non-europea federations on board hence Figo & the Dutch bloke withdrawing. As to only needing to build 50 alliances that presumes Europe would vote enbloc(not a chance with Russian leadership at present) & the fact that the bribery is all about ensuring all the other federations are in FIFAs pocket, the only other option for UEFA is to enter a bribery arms race with FIFA.
Hopefully the new president will have the good sense to go to a sponsor like Visa & say I want to second some of your best people to draw up a corporate governance structure that FIFA will adopt & force UEFA & all the country FAs to adopt as well.

£50 donated from a whip around at the Three Lions pub at BS3 I'd get rid of that whip round damn sharpish, probably find every one of those notes with an exceptionally high cocaine reading. Off course if they all just gave 50p each you're in the clear

Let's build an entire team of ex Rovers players. Spend a few quid on Ryan Clarke, Adam Barrett might t be up to League 1 so snap him up, Jeff Hughes is out of contract, we're already signing Linesy, is Will Hoskins still going? GK - Ryan Clarke / Mikel Andersen RB - Danny Woodards / David Pipe LB - Joe Jacobson / Danny Jones CB - Adam Barrett / Aaron Downes CB - Charlie Clough / Will Packwood RW - Sean Rigg / Fabian Broghammer LW - Jeff Hughes / Kaid Mohammed CM - Chris Lines / Seanan Clucas CM - John-Joe O'Toole / Alan GI'd CF - Will Hoskins / Oumare Tounkara CF - Steven Gillespie / Matt Harrold
Would you have them back?
I'd consider any of them that have banged 22 goals playing for a team at the top of L1. Now how many are there left to choose from? Well ic

Personally I hope he ignores this letter. Besides revealing tactics I don't want any managers guaranteeing he is going to play in a set formation

Oh dear faggoty's cage well & truly rattled, twice in 2 days seems my success rate is pretty good. Hopefully you'll applaud the poster who isn't as lazy as you when it comes to analyzing other managers. Wait, do you think I was being serious? Sorry was I supposed to have read all your post? Stopped as soon as I saw mention of Paul Trollope. Still spoof or not it appeared a long non lazy post

Your assumption is yet again wrong. I listed the loan signings & said some were hits & some were misses. Not many seem to disagree with that. So do go & do your own investigation in to other managers & clubs if that's what interests you. Nothing for me to prove however wrong you are To quote, "Let's not get back into the cult of DC 'who does nothing wrong'.". You then list the players that were loaned into the club last year. This clearly implies that you believe that DC's loan strategy or success rate was wrong - that he is flawed when it comes to getting in players on loan. Can you objectively prove that, by comparing to other managers? Or are you just having a meaningless moan (which is fine btw, but you should admit it)? Oh dear faggoty's cage well & truly rattled, twice in 2 days seems my success rate is pretty good. Blimey all this thread (for which admittedly I have participated in) for something that is non Rovers, non football even. Gawd knows what it would have been like if they had won!! Thought it would just be a few comments and gone but looks like it could be an epic production. Amazing that this is still on the gasguzzler section when the FIFA thread got moved. I've Conference refs with more consistency than our mods

No idea I don't follow other teams. The internet is out there for you to investigate, let us know your findings. Ah now, you are the one saying that DC's loan choices were 'wrong'. So its up to you to prove that his choices were, overall, wrong, when compared to a control. Your assumption is yet again wrong. I listed the loan signings & said some were hits & some were misses. Let's not get back into the cult of DC 'who does nothing wrong'. He's had a fantastic season, far exceeding my expectations (though not my hopes) but the full list of loan players shows his choices were in fact hit & miss: Dave Martin Five months Adam Cunnington Three months Lyle Della Verde One Month Bradley Goldberg[spanD [/span]Two Months Nathan Blissett One Month Alex Wall One Month Fabian Spiess One Month Adam Dawson Three Months Josh Wakefield One Chris Lines Two Months
BUT the key is that the 'misses' were signed on short-term loan deals, they were disposable and we could replace them. In the past, the 'misses' would be on three-year deals.
Don't think that is entirely true but sticking to the subject the OP was specifically talking about loan signings, keep up. And as someone else has pointed out all of the loan signings could've been hits (they weren't of course see Irish's excellent post) but the system maybe coming to an end so it's the permanent signings that will have to be hits in the future. You are assuming wrongly, my comment had nothing to with phone hacking by the News of the World or the soon to be demised Daily Mail. As there aren't involved in these arrests I'm not sure why you or the other poster would asume that. Soon to be demised Daily Mail? The Daily Mail is the highest profiting media outlet in the world. Oops what a clanger mistaking the s**thouse Daily Mirror for the Daily Mail.

Yes, of course. As I understand it, even for the FBI, to obtain a legal wiretap you have to have a court order - you have to show sufficient evidence for a high likelihood of a specific criminal activity, and for that to be agreed with by a judge. You can't just 'fish'. There are then strict rules about what you can do with the information obtained. Get caught breaking correct procedure and expect to find the evidence inadmissible, you and your organisation to be heavily sued, and probably criminal charges. Its not like in a Hollywood film.
Completely different to the press voicemail scandal, which I assume you are referring to.

Not many times the Americans get plaudits but this should certainly be one of them. Wonder if any member's of the forum will object as some of the evidence appears to have come from a wiretap? Presumably depends if the wiretap was obtained legally Really?
