It's all a bit gloomy this evening, so it's just as well that we got the win this afternoon otherwise we could be passing the strychnine round.

I think that the virtual lack of response to the chairman's interview speaks volumes about our season so far, and many supporters expectations for the future.

According to Radio Bristol the score could easily have been 0-5 to the Wombles at half-time, with two superb saves from Smith and ''easily one of the worst ever misses that I have ever seen'' to thank for keeping the score down to the two goal deficit.
Hopefully DC will inspire the team with his half time talk, and instil some badly needed confidence.

The fact John Ward gave him a free role contributed to our relegation , yes he scored goals but that left a huge gap in the midfield. No time for him he thought he should be at a bigger club but has ended up with Northampton - really......I always felt that he thought that he was doing Rovers a favour, by playing for them until a ''big'' club came in for him. There were several quotes from O'Toole at the time to that effect, but my mind has clouded somewhat.

Out of the three I would have to opt for the first one, many thanks for the information. Those games were at Twerton, not Molineux! The obvious Bank Holiday away game was the Dennis Bailey game on 27th March 1989, which was Easter Monday.
Apart from that, Wolves beat us in the League Cup 4-0 on Tues 31 Oct 1973 and there was a 1-0 defeat in the old Div 2 on a Tuesday night in April 1977. We also won 4-3 up there on Tuesday 17 Sep 1985, drew 1-1 on Saturday 8th September 1990, won 3-2 on Tuesday 5th November 1991 and lost 5-1 on Saturday 7 Nov 1992. Many thanks for your trouble GasMacc1, that really does sound about right. Mind you it's still a bit of a blur.

I've only watched the Pirates play at Molineaux the one time, and I have absolutely no idea when it was which irks me no end. My only recollection of the day was that the Supporters Club coaches were predictably late arriving in Wolverhampton, and then to add insult to injury they dropped us off quite some way from the ground meaning that we had to sprint to make the kick-off. I remember that the terraces were very steep and that the pitch seemed to be facing the wrong way to the stands, and that there was ground renovations being carried out at the time too. Is there enough clues here for someone to tell me when exactly it was that I was there, cos I'd be grateful. Oh, and it may well have been a Bank Holiday too. not played them much so maybe 25 March 1986 1-1 11 March 1992 1-1 13 March 1993 1-1

Many thanks to you d3d4, cos there's nothing like a walk down Memory Lane is there?
I remember Mark Walters quite well as it happens. He was a fast tricky winger who promised a lot but couldn't quite deliver. He came to us a few years too late in his career, but then again he wouldn't have looked at us in his prime . . . even if we could have afforded his transfer fee and wages.
