....for me, only once and the one that mattered the most - Dennis Bailey.
If ever there was a GET THE F IN moment, that was it. What was it? 2 years unbeaten at home? Until the mighty Gas turned it on in 80s amazing away day.
We got on at Temple Meads, but alot of mates got on at Stapleton Road on our football special. Some of us a bit silly to smash the train up ON the way there, instead of waiting return journey....which was twice as packed on way back!
Police escort to the stadium, I remember thinking it was a genuinely scary place. Rundown, graffitti, litter, that intimidating subway. Added to that, West Midlands pigs (because they were that day) were on top form!
Brilliant away day stood in away end where there was a derelict area to left of us, one huge stand to right of us....all silenced by DB wonder strike up the other end. Can it be replicated tomorrow night?
Very tough match tomorrow, but I'm sure we'll all be in good voice to cheer on the boys. Safe journey, Gas enjoy the occasion.....UptheGas!

Wolves 6 - 4 Rotherham, April 2014.
Blistering hot good Friday afternoon at Molineux, day before we lost away at Pompey in the slide towards non league football.
Stood on the Away end (Steve Bull lower) with 3k or so Rotherham supporters, purely to get the ground ticked off.
Anyway, ended up being one of the most epic games I've ever witnessed, outside Rovers of course. Wolves led 3-1 at half time and up until 84mins, before Agard the sheedhead sent the Away end mental by securing a hat trick in the 85th & 89th minutes. Dicko then scored for Wolves, Rotherham scored AGAIN & then Rob Edwards and his mate settled it in the 94th & 97th, with a total of 4 proper pitch invasions inbetween & a threat by the mic guy that the ref was getting ready to abandon the game.
Pretty decent afternoon in all & their stadium is unbelievably decent. Looking forward to returning tomorrow.

I have been there a few times but I'm with the OP on this, the outstanding one was the Dennis Bailey match the first time Wolves had lost at home in a year. As the OP said, it was a bit of a hairy visit for those of us on the train. It was the first time I can remember us running a special since the Southampton cup game and everyone was a little bit excitable. I'm in the boxes tomorrow night so should be a very different sort of occasion, I will be very happy with a similar result!

Yep, that Bailey match. Went in pub with parents and they were a little threatening. Then walking to the ground and chatting to a couple of wolves fans who seemed OK, until I told them to watch out for bailey, when i said he was black they sounded like the kkk. So pleased he scored. Went back a few yrs ago when they played the orient and they seemed yo have stepped out of the middle ages. Horrible town though, makes you realise how lucky you are to live in bris or bath

I've only watched the Pirates play at Molineaux the one time, and I have absolutely no idea when it was which irks me no end. My only recollection of the day was that the Supporters Club coaches were predictably late arriving in Wolverhampton, and then to add insult to injury they dropped us off quite some way from the ground meaning that we had to sprint to make the kick-off. I remember that the terraces were very steep and that the pitch seemed to be facing the wrong way to the stands, and that there was ground renovations being carried out at the time too.
Is there enough clues here for someone to tell me when exactly it was that I was there, cos I'd be grateful. Oh, and it may well have been a Bank Holiday too.

Out of the three I would have to opt for the first one, many thanks for the information.

Coins thrown at us and "Bully's gonna get you" from the Wolves fans. Kenny give us a wave and Kenny is a Gashead from us. Good day. 😁

Out of the three I would have to opt for the first one, many thanks for the information. Those games were at Twerton, not Molineux! The obvious Bank Holiday away game was the Dennis Bailey game on 27th March 1989, which was Easter Monday. Apart from that, Wolves beat us in the League Cup 4-0 on Tues 31 Oct 1973 and there was a 1-0 defeat in the old Div 2 on a Tuesday night in April 1977. We also won 4-3 up there on Tuesday 17 Sep 1985, drew 1-1 on Saturday 8th September 1990, won 3-2 on Tuesday 5th November 1991 and lost 5-1 on Saturday 7 Nov 1992.

Well that would be Easter Monday 1-0 to us courtesy of Dennis Bailey and the first time Wolves lost at home in nearly 2 seasons

Winning 3-2 on the same day as Robert Maxwell went overboard I went to that game, I remember Maxwell being all over the news but I have absolutely no recollection of the game at all. I didn't even remember the score until I read your post. Another game there worth mentioning was the 5-1 hammering when we didn't stop singing and a lot of the songs were supporting our manager at the time Dennis Rofe. We ere stood on the south bank when it was still divided between home and away supporters and we were joining in with the 'North bank give us a song' chants. There wasa bit of a love in at the final whistle with both sets of fans applauding each other.

There wasa bit of a love in at the final whistle with both sets of fans applauding each other. We've had that more than once. West Ham clapped us at Upton Park when we were relegated in '93. I think we may have given them a quick clap back at the time, after all we are the mighty Bristol Rovers.....no wonder they applauded us!

We clapped Tranmere Rovers players onto the pitch at Twerton in the late 80s as a few weeks earlier they had beaten the 82s 6-0 at Prenton Park
