GasMacc1, the blog link isn't working. Apparently, "Le site est en maintenance". Oh merde. It works for me! There isn't a lot more on the linked page, but if anyone is interested - and I'm beginning to regret posting - here it is in full. "Dean Lawrence (born 1961, Bristol) is a British actor who is best known for his role as Gypsy boy Tyso Boswell in the children's science fiction television series The Tomorrow People. Born in Bristol, Lawrence had wanted to act since the age of three, learning his craft from mimicking people and acting his way out of "tight corners". His mother had promised young Dean that if he strove for good results in primary school, he would go on to a good stage school. After the deal was made, Lawrence's marks sat above satisfactory level in his end-of year exams, so he was enrolled at the Barbara Speake Stage School at the age of eleven. Since his enrollment, Lawrence appeared in various commercials, doing modelling jobs for everything from bikes to cars and sung on records with Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart, Max Wall. and others. He also performed in quite few West End productions, including Carry On London and Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was also said in a Look-In article that he avidly supported the football team Bristol Rovers and that his favourite hobby was girls. It was after filming an appearance on 'Robin Hood Junior' as Edmund that Lawrence got the part as Tyso Boswell on The Tomorrow People. Filming for Dean's television debut as Tyso took place in late 1974. The character of Tyso had extra-sharp senses and mild claustrophobia, however, these quirks of Tyso never made it past Lawrence's second appearance, Worlds Away. Both Tyso and Stephen Jameson (who Tyso shared a special friendship with) were retired from the series at the end of 1976 in the episode Into the Unknown. After The Tomorrow People Lawrence had quite a few more acting jobs, such as Jerry in a guest appearance on the short-lived 1978 American situation comedy Another Day, Ron Harvey in Westway, a Knob in The Lords of Discipline and Jack in House of Caradus". ^ Price, Roger (2007-09-27). Is it my old age playing tricks or did we play Pompey on a freezing afternoon, when all the main first division (old) matches were called off and we ended up on match of the day ? Think it ended 0-0 Boxing Day 1981. Rovers team: Martin Thomas; Vaughan Jones; Donnie Gillies; Neil Slatter; Aidan McCaffery; Tim Parkin; Brian Williams; David Williams; Gary Mabbutt; Shaun Penny; Mike Barrett. Sub Archie Stephens. Att: 11,395. Match of the Day showed all the highlights - it lasted about twenty seconds.

Went a couple of years ago, 2013 I think it was?? Awful game (for us) quickly went 2-0 down, Anyinsah got one back right after halftime but it faded out to another miserable Buckle defeat. Fortunately I was on a Blackpool weekender so we headed back there to continue the p**s up. I also recall Muzzy Carayol almost being cut in half by an horrendous 'tackle' late in the game that almost sparked a mini gas riot! Straight red was obviously dished out. One to forget. It was 5th November 2011, Dude. The incident was horrendous because the Accrington player made no attempt to go for the ball, but moved deliberately to kick out at full force into Muzzy's legs, after he had pushed the ball past him and was starting to accelerate away. One of the worst fouls I have ever seen. The player in question was Peter Murphy. That's right - he's the one who scored against us for Accrington in the 90th minute at the Memorial Stadium 27 months later, in the season we dropped out of the League. In my view, he should still have been serving a suspension for the foul on Carayol. I remember how their goalkeeper (Bettinelli) celebrated that goal wildly in front of the Blackthorn and - with the Accrington coaching staff - continued to mock the Rovers fans. I'm not buying any of this cute, little Accy Stanley stuff - I would love it if we could beat them tomorrow!

Went there in 2007 for an evening game in March I think. The ref then showed Stuart Campbell red for an offence that only he saw. That was my first visit to Stanley, Mrs S. It's less than an hour's drive from Macclesfield, so I arrived in good time to have a wander round outside the ground. Of course, it's much improved now, with a roof over the previously uncovered home "Ultras" end... I remember thinking that my wardrobe was only slightly smaller than their club store. Apart from the goals, there's only one bit of play I remember. It was a crisp, frosty night, so the surface was firm, but with a good covering of short grass. The away terrace is very close to the pitch and you feel as though you are in amongst the players. In the first half Rovers were attacking the away end. Stuart Campbell had the ball in space, 30 years out and could see that Sammy Igoe was well positioned to run up the Rovers' right. Campbell flighted the ball diagonally forward, but you sensed that the arc of the ball would make its first bounce land only a few feet from the goal-iine, out wide; surely, its momentum would take it out of play before Igoe got near it? But no! Campbell had put so much back spin on the ball that it seemed to freeze, before rolling softly back into the path of the scampering Igoe. It would be nice to finish the story with the goal action that resulted, but I don't think Sammy made much of the beautiful set-up! Our goal came after 58 minutes, at the extremely open, far-end. It seemed a long way distant. Following some head-tennis, I think with Rickie Lambert, Walker jumped imperceptibly and nutted the ball over the line from about three inches. Stuart Campbell's sending off was born of frustration at conceding the free-kick from which Stanley scored the equaliser. The ref was wrong, but that ill-discipline, I felt, marked the end of our promotion hopes for that season... Ah yes, the 2006-7 season. The names trip off the tongue; Phillips, Carruthers, Elliott, Disley, Lambert, Walker, Oji. Oji?? Sam Oji played five games for us in 2007 on loan from Birmingham, and was in the Rovers team that day at Accrington. They who also serve.

Where was the highlight for the Gaffney lob goal ruled out for offside? Was certain that was onside from where I was standing (yes, behind the goal!!)
I was standing right next to the Plymouth back line and Gaffney was at least a metre on side. Unbelievable decision.
Thanks for sharing that. I was on the west side and wasn't looking along the back-line, so couldn't honestly argue with confidence against the decision. All I would say is that Parkes played a quick ball that had been bouncing around a group of players (so the linesman probably couldn't have had a clear sight of when the it was played) and the direction and speed of the relevant players' movements suggested that it could have been onside. From what you say, I regret not giving the officials an even louder volley of criticism during the game! (Although my neighbours in the West Stand were probably relieved).

I am also very surprised that there was no action taken against Peter Hartley their no 6 who was a real twat. Mouthing off, arms all around Gaffney whether the ball was near him or not, constantly niggling away and even abusing Gaffney in front of the ref when Rory was down holding his nose.
I dislike Hartley and hope for red cards and Karma for him for the rest of the season.
His career highlight so far is playing in the same Hartlepool side as James Poole, thus forming the "Hartley-Poole" partnership. Hartley-Poole

Surely you can only come to that conclusion if you've compared our average scoring times against other teams in the league who have scored a similar number of goals.
I enjoyed reading the original article, but I think faggotygas is right. So I decided to do the comparison. The results bear out buckrippers' argument. To date, Rovers have scored 38 goals. So have Wimbledon, Notts County and Luton. Rovers have scored later than the 80th minute in 12 matches. The other three clubs have managed that feat on 7 (Wombles), 3 (Notts) and 6 (Luton) occasions, respectively. As buckrippers implied, Rovers - in scoring late goals - have turned 6 draws into wins, and one losing position into a draw, thereby gaining thirteen "late extra" points. Ade Azeez scored after 82 minutes for Wimbledon to give them a 2:1 win over Exeter; the same player scored very late to equalise against Wycombe. Three extra points gained. Liam Noble edged Notts 3:2 ahead of Luton right at the end of the game; again, the same player scored the Magpies' fourth goal in the last minute against Newport's three. Four extra points gained. Finally, Luton pinched a point on the opening day at Accrington with a late goal from Jonathan Smith; Exeter conceded a late Paul Benson goal just before Christmas to lose 3:2. Three extra points gained.

From the same page of the same paper:
"Bristol C**y's share issue has received a boost from the Bristol Rovers board. Rovers directors Martyn Flook, Barry Bradshaw and Nigel Roydon each contributed £10. C**y (1982) have now banked more than £20,000 of the £300,000 they need to buy Ashton Gate and rebuild the club".

From the Post:
Rovers Chief Names Ground Decision Day
Bristol Rovers are to decide at a board meeting whether to move to Ashton Gate next season. Although there is a strong feeling the club may remain, the chairman said today: "We have not made up our minds. The next couple of weeks are important to make sure everything is organised for next season. We want to make the right move, but we can't delay much longer. There are still a few things that need to be sorted out and a decision must be made in two weeks".
Rovers have had talks with Bristol C**y...I understand terms for a three-year agreement with the C**y board have been agreed.
Brochure
The Rovers chairman...is determined that Rovers will eventually have their own home. Rovers are still planning a farewell celebration after the last game of the season. But a special brochure to mark the club's move has not been published as planned. Rovers insist there is no significance in the delay. "The printers are ready to press the button as soon as a decision about leaving is taken".

Over the last ten years, there's only been one occasion when 85 points has not been enough to get automatic promotion from the fourth tier. To make the play-offs, 72 points has been enough eight times out of nine. We won't really care against which opponents we get the points, as long as we get enough. For the hell of it, though, here's how we got on against the promoted and play-off teams in the last three seasons in which we were promoted D3: 1989-90 | Home | Away | Points | BCFC 1982 | W | D | 4 | Notts County | W | L | 3 | Tranmere | W | W | 6 | Bury | W | D | 4 | Bolton | D | L | 1 | Total/30 | | | 18 |
L2: 2006-07 | Home | Away | Points | Walsall | L | D | 1 | Hartlepool | L | W | 3 | Swindon | W | D | 4 | MK Dons | D | L | 1 | Lincoln | D | L | 1 | Shrewsbury | W | D | 4 | Total/36 | | | 14 |
NL: 2014-15 | Home | Away | Points | Barnet | W | L | 3 | Grimsby | D | W | 4 | Eastleigh | L | D | 1 | FGR | L | D | 1 | Total/24 | |
| 9 |
So our success rate against our main competitors for promotion was 60% in 1989-90; 39% in 2006-07; 38% in 2014-15. This season, from the six games played so far against the others in the top 7, we've got only 4 points out of 18, which is 22%. Let's guess that we draw at Oxford, Accrington and Cobblers, lose at Pompey, beat Plymouth and Wycombe. That would give us 13 points out of 36 (36%).

Looking straight at it from behind the home bench, he didn't move his body into MT, it was an outstretched arm & an elbow straight in the kisser. The ref was probably 15 yards away, how he only gave a yellow is beyond belief given that he saw the exact same thing everyone else did. I found it inexplicable that referee Lee Swabey failed to give a red card for the elbow into Matt Taylor's jaw. It was probably the worst decision not to send someone off since the away leg at Forest Green when Charlie Clough kicked Will Puddy. The referee that day was...Lee Swabey.

On the cash side of things... ... We lost the initial court case, the appeal will be held in feb (March?). ... It's later this month. "The appeal, which is likely to take three days, will be heard on January 26 or January 27, 2016".

Luton's website reports that 600 tickets were sold in advance from the Luton Town ticket office and only terracing is now available on the day.
They took 1,556 away fans to Pompey, 416 to Exeter, 451 to Newport, 1,892 to Stevenage, 487 to Crawley and 1,083 to Dagenham.
