Very good game, very good atmosphere and a very good advert for League 2 football. Certainly the 2nd half was like two boxers looking for a knock out blow, end to end stuff, I think Plymouth were slightly better than us, certainly created more clear cut chances and only some heroic defending kept them out. Well played Gas, the Oxford result looks even better now.

Great effort from the gas yesterday, thought a draw was a fair result and with pompey and acceys losing was a good point. I had a plymouth fan come in the blackthorn with me and he was well impressed with the home support, so pleased to see how far we have come 18 months, actually proud to be gashead again.

Those highlights seem to give the impression that they had the better of the first and we had the better of the 2nd. Is that fair or is it just the way the chances fell?

Being honest I thought they had the better of both halves but I was pleased we competed well with them. Certainly we had a good period of play in the 2nd half when we could have killed the game off, with Matty not finishing from the cross from Rory, us then taking the lead and then Chris shooting just wide from what looked like to me a good opportunity that at least should have brought a save from the goalie (who I thought played well, despite some of barracking he was subject to). There was some blame aimed at Montano for not taking the ball to the corner instead of the weak cross he produced before their keeper played it out to start the attack that brought about their equaliser. I think that was a bit tough on him but Darrell referred to us being a bit naive in managing the game out so I assume that's where it was aimed. A good point I think plus a good performance against one of the better teams in this league.

We certainly shaded the second half, in my mind, on good chances created, and had we ended up 2-0 it wouldn't have been a surprise, but a draw was a fair result, so I guess the game balanced.

Where was the highlight for the Gaffney lob goal ruled out for offside? Was certain that was onside from where I was standing (yes, behind the goal!!)

I was standing right next to the Plymouth back line and Gaffney was at least a metre on side. Unbelievable decision.
I am also very surprised that there was no action taken against Peter Hartley their no 6 who was a real twat. Mouthing off, arms all around Gaffney whether the ball was near him or not, constantly niggling away and even abusing Gaffney in front of the ref when Rory was down holding his nose.
I dislike Hartley and hope for red cards and Karma for him for the rest of the season.

I knew it re. Gaffney!! Annoying. And yes, the ref seemed to be letting a lot of that go on unpunished. Couldn't believe some of the man-handling they got away with. I'd say we were robbed if we weren't hanging on for dear life for long spells!

His career highlight so far is playing in the same Hartlepool side as James Poole, thus forming the "Hartley-Poole" partnership. Hartley-Poole

Thanks for sharing that. I was on the west side and wasn't looking along the back-line, so couldn't honestly argue with confidence against the decision. All I would say is that Parkes played a quick ball that had been bouncing around a group of players (so the linesman probably couldn't have had a clear sight of when the it was played) and the direction and speed of the relevant players' movements suggested that it could have been onside. From what you say, I regret not giving the officials an even louder volley of criticism during the game! (Although my neighbours in the West Stand were probably relieved).

As the day has gone on I feel a growing resentment towards Hartley. I can no longer include his first name in discussions. I have condensed all my feelings about him, and toward, him into a one syllable insightful summary of the man - KNOB.
