A lot of talk in other places at how this discriminates against our older supporters, who don't have smart-phones. But what about kids who won't have any phone at all? I don't know how this works - can adults have more than 1 account on their phone? The club didn't care about these types of groups going cashless, I don't think they'll care about anything else but fleecing the vulnerable..

Playing devils advocate here. How long in time and how much in money would it be to pack and post eg 1500 plastic season tickets? How much time would it take to pack and post? Wages for the packers? The cost of plastic? Etc. Not sure. It's probably done by automation, I imagine? Hang on though this is Bristol Rovers... probably a few umpa lumpas in back room of a factory somewhere by the Feeder.

Just got back..
From a wonderfully mediocre season and last game whimper...awful...not good enough.
Absolutely brilliant the Gas family encompasses solo traveller, family, groups and couples alike...met another new to me fella, good on you, T.
Absolutely fine fettle moods in and around Wigan from she Shaven Moon to the shoot shoot shoot the bar steward establishments....not least to mention a big shout out to Station Cafe opposite Wallsgate that got the ball rolling...gert lush if ever we deserved a decent start.
Anyways, onto more less important things:
Jed Ward lad take a bow....3 saves in first few minutes kept it respectable. My m o m
Scotty tried. So did a few others. Nice clearance from Wilson off the line, but defence fella of moment once again, Bags. Nice debut for Kofi....some p*ssed up fella thought it was Gordon on! Haha!
And that's about it.
Their no 17 Good a genuine gem ...his trickery left and right baffled us. A true wizard. One to watch next season...
Jed Ward respectable. Matt Taylor not so much. Hardly recognised fans on final whistle. Not for the first time.... he's not enamoured himself with the majority of fanbase.
Some shirts went into the crowd. Some tears on final whistle (celebrations or commiserations?) presumably of boredom...?
Never have I seen such mediocrity been celebrated so much, by so many to so few that actually appear to care..
Ps....oh and some of our songs are becoming embarrassing. But then again, I'm old fashioned.
Enjoy the summer break, Gas and see you then other side..... it'll be a genuine pleasure connecting back up again! UptheGas..

Dour, uninteresting fixture from the outside.
Players politics and pride is the only thing to play for apart from the most important predictions and bets on various forums and bookmakers...
For me, this is the first return to Wigan since the two in one season (one was the latest postponement ever!) in our promotion year 1990. This is my only new stadium this season.
I wonder how many can say that!?
Writing now in transit, a sunny but under chill day will play out in a forgetful last game , no doubt. Last chance to see some. Last chance for them to see us.
I find this a wasted opportunity season....I think it's a weaker sandwich of two stronger, because the clubs coming into our league next year look more spendy and established.
A season mostly of disappointment with the odd pearls of joy.....but as we career faster into post season blues and the end, at least we can celebrate we are still here
And, 3rd division inane football is some we could only have dreamt of in most of this sad century....
Enjoy your football consumption and safe journeys everyone.... UptheGas!

Against a Peterborough side that made us look very ordinary. Seven changes from the side that beat Rovers on Saturday. They played mostly they're youth side. And subs that hadn't gotten game time. JCH was involved though.

The 22nd February 2021 manager finished rock bottom and 17th in the third division. Had he been capable of finishing 10th (or higher) I would have remained true to that which he has proven before, during, and since his time here. Namely that Joey B***** is unfit to manage Bristol Rovers. Matt Taylor is, and I would love it if he succeeds. Unfit to manage to you perhaps, but would you have been ok with it?

If Taylor remains this time next year, we'll be top ten, and I'll be okay with it. Would you have been ok with B***** in top ten too? With CM top goalscorer? Just asking...for a duckling.

"I really want Taylor to see the end of next season. There or there abouts will do me."
If he does, it'll mean almost certainly we'll see the similar league position or better...?
A tougher league next season on paper. That would be a decent start.

It seems to me clubs play for a draw just to get a replay. How exciting is that to watch? It can be exciting. How many times have we cheered and almost celebrated like a goal when we've cleared the ball off the line or away in last minute to preserve a result...? I like observing defensive outfits. How they run their lines, remain organised, move to cover and track, it's part and parcel of the holistic football experience. Draws can be important for a number of reasons, but this course of action without consultation, unilaterally is unjust i m o...

All to play for. My hopes are with Bamber as I shred my impartiality!
Maybe don't have a look here after next week's match, have a Wigan peer at it....

Just got back..
Wow what a day out. With special guests, the league of nations..
I think some were genuinely amazed at how many turned out for a match that didn't mean anything, and how good natured the crowds were!? Albeit a bit quiet from the south stand. Hilarious times new friends and old, it never surprises me what the bounty of the Road throws up (soometimes literally!) and you never know who'll you bump into...
Anyhoos onto something less important: Throw a chicken in the air....? What was that all about!?? I didn't see any deck chairs up a nose...
Poor CT and JH...I guess they get an early premature deck chair (not up a nose!?) for beach football and hope their rehab starts asap to be fit for the new season, but I'm starting to worry about our pre season prep is already tainted.
Well done LT and SS yesterday, a flurry of opportunities but in all honesty, the day fell to Posh because it's their party and as much huff and puff we produced, we just couldn't blow their house down.
I'm coming out and saying it after considering time and watching from different angles: Jervani Brown has underperformed all season to the point I consider his inclusion a hindrance, rather a good acquisition. I'm sorry to say. Yes one or two nice moments, but no way near enough and the poorest signing for a while.
Well done all loanees, they put a shift in, even Cox whom I think is a working progress. He'll take something from our club I'm sure..
Gerry knows where we would be if we didn't have CM, which we don't for a few matches, but everyone at the club should owe a debt of gratitude for his goals and up front lone play that has almost single handedly saved us from relegation threats or worries....so a priority is to find a competent understudy.... because JB is certainly not that and I can't see ever will be.
With penultimate match damp squib thoughts, I see this as a wasted season. I get that we're in transition, which is never going to be pretty, but the timing of this is so poor. We are competing in probably one of the weakest divisions in years and have missed that opportunity to compete for promotion..... next year we have some big clubs and spenders replacing the likes of Pompey etc which won't make our campaign easier.
I refer back to one of my posts in 2019: The appointment of BG will put us back 5 years...... unless we're 2nd or above in December, I fear I was optimistic with the 5 years!
The future is clouded and it's going to be a challenge to get to where we were under the Midas GC, but isn't that what being a GasHead is all about?
The humour, sometimes self depreciation and optimism, and full of hope rather than expectation is also what being a GasHead is all about too...??... and that culture was what was exposed to the league of nations, and I hope they took that bit home with them with a smile and perhaps return in better climes ... Almost ciao.

Another 3 points with two hurdles to go, and we say goodbye to the majority of pessimistic predictors!
With a five wheel drive driving seat of Eppers, Smegmers, Pippers, Shovelers and Taiwaners.... they're in pole position, but can the Bamber vote be surpassed? ... or will it fall to one of the others in between?
Only time will tell..
