While we still don't have a big screen TV yet.... it's on its way (apparently), would any of the TG criticisers (is that a word?!) like to comment on the new LED advertising system that he helped negotiate for the rest of the season? By the way, at no cost to the club. By the way, the advertising boards it covered up were put on the system at no extra cost, which by the way included Bristol Energy advert that if you're a brand new customer, on joining them you get a discount as you're a GasHead......that was negotiated by the fairy godmother, obviously!? The initial news brought into the Blackpool match day thread by Concept. Read more: gasheads.org/thread/8087/blackpool-match-day-thread#ixzz5h6WVFFkzJust wondering if anyone wanted to comment if they think it's made our club look more or less professional at minimum cost is a good or bad thing? Yep I take the point it's his job bla bla bla, what he's paid to do bla bla bla, but none of these things happened under the Holtby watch, or any time before, yet there seems to be more scrutiny now. Well fine, scrutinise these recent developments... ......but hey TG messed up with a TV so I guess that's all that matters? Werent they installed at skys request due to the game on Tuesday being shown live on sky and they put up the funds to pay for it and they are supposed to be removed after the game. The advertisers are contracted to sky and are put in front of those who advertise for rovers games this is so those companies don't get free national exposure during the game.Nothing to do with rovers commercial department in any way

Southmead project was advertised, as along with Bristol Energy, Thatchers, caraboa drink, along with other national and global companies. Of course won't know until Tuesday what is being advertised, or even if it does continue after, but our commercial department does deserve credit because I can't exactly see many firms saying they don't want to be involved. The test was played on me prior to entry..... what advertising boards could I name around the perimeter of the pitch and where...? I struggled to name one. As proven by market research we generally remember more when this is installed (especially new), and why most championship clubs and above subscribe to it. This is a commodity. A very desirable and viable commodity commercially....hence why the commercial department should take some credit. Also, advertising a company where Rovers fans get discount for joining as new customers...?... it's win win and credit should go to where it's deserved... ...Unless you think the fairy godmother arranged all this with a kiss of her wand?!

Well fine, scrutinise these recent developments... ......but hey TG messed up with a TV so I guess that's all that matters? Difficult to say with the scrolling boards being my side of the pitch. There are about 4 old hoardings now covered from my view, which are in front of The Clubhouse Terrace, which I could just about see the top or side of, so I could name from memory and font style: Bird in The Hand; Macron; Avon Tyres (or is it Avon Rubber? Plus I refuse to write 'tyres' with an 'i' !), and Mint Bet. I definitely saw Avon Tyres/Rubber on the new boards, think I saw Macron, and Mint Bet is now null and void, but definitely didn't see The Bird in The Hand. Just had another look at TG's Twiiter video and I see McCarthy Marland Waste is on an old one now blocked, but I can't remember that on the new boards. Opinion on them … Yes, a more professional look, and probably a step in the right direction. They do seem a bit close to the pitch though, in front on the East Terrace. Perhaps next year they will be moved back to replace the original boards attached to the perimeter wall.

The scrolling ads are there until end of season, then they will look at keeping them for next season. So what is happening to the existing advertising boards They're converted to the new ones. Is better and more updated advertising. For no extra cost. Gorringe is so so so so so crap!

When watching games at Eastville @ 1985, I went to the Opticians because I thought my eyes were fading. There was nothing wrong, but this anxiety on my part was attributable to Gordon Bennett (Chief Executive) not replacing the bulbs in the Eastville Floodlights. When challenged, he put it down to cash-flow issues. True story. Roll onto 2019 and it's Nick Gorringe and the Big TV Screen. When it launches, I hope we just show the old Test Card for the first game, as it will be symbolic of our evolutionary journey. Cut Nick Gorringe some slack. He is not the organ grinder and he hasn't got a funding pot to piss in. Funnily enough, 15 minutes into the second half against Sunderland, I was thinking we could do with the floodlights on. Even if just dimmed it would have improved vision, even though it had been an unseasonably warm day. The lights did come on second half yesterday; although, I will concede, completely different weather conditions! As to any perceived problems we've experienced over the past couple of years, my main gripe is the continued passing the blame on others.

McCarthy Marland Waste was definitely on the electronic laser display board. I remember it, because at first glance I thought it was for McCarthy and Stone, which would have been excellent targeting of the Rovers' demographic.

Great news.
Gorringe NOT sacked, despite sick rumour on other site.
Why does no-one speak about his assistant? Connected to her last night on LinkedIn. Good CV.

How many assistants does the bloke have? I know that he had a male assistant a few months back. Anyway, to the here and now. This morning someone forwarded an email from the club to do with 2019~20 season tickets. 2 things stand out; Renew by April 16th or your seat goes on general sale and you will have to pay more. Utterly ridiculous, that's before this season even ends! Contained in the email are 2 links with big background pictures of Bristol, the largest thing you can see in the background of the picture? You've guessed it, The DSS Arena. Maybe it's some clever marketing thing that goes over my head, but it just looks plain careless to me. Is that because he doesn't have a big budget Vaughan? Back to these perimeter boards and lack of any working score boards. It's beginning to look as if Tom has signed us up with a duff company who couldn't get the main board supplied so have given us those perimeter boards as a stop gap? Unless of course you know differently?

Now I don't want to nitpick, oh go on. Much as I applaud Rovers' efforts to get into the 2010s, the accompanying instructions aimed at the buyer are written as if explaining to BRFC what that particular section does or contains rubbish, for example:
This screen will confirm the Item and the delivery adders on file. Year if they wish to change the delivery address they will need ot cancel the order and change it on their My Account page.

This would be embarrassing if it were a local skittles club!

That's playing on the possibility that they could be playing PL football next season, so you can 'buy in' at this price. Our marketing dept are idiots.

There are some great initiatives being produced via Commercial:
The murder, mystery night
The wedding ceremony offer
Play on the pitch.
I would love to hear about a "Build a new Family Stand > 178 seats" initiative and I might engage my son's DT teacher on a school project.

That's just 1 example Bamber, there are others I have to assume, as always, that the first example someone uses is their best example, otherwise the person presenting the point would be deliberately failing to present the best argument they could. Why would you do that? Anyway, moving right along, as you seem to want to defend the indefensible, any comment on Ashton Gate being used in the marketing picture sent out today?

Swansea Sheff Wednesday Lincoln Shrewsbury Port Vale
I am sure I could find more
again. doesn't make it right
