it seems that we will get the new screen installed... in April apparently. Problems with the current frame meant that although we have had the Screen since October, the “specialist contractors” cant possibly get around to fitting it until April.. (maybe they had too many patios to do!). Also in the meantime it would be nice just to have a simple scoreboard that can be seen from the West Stand. Hope we have a good game today... we seem to have a team again. Gasser

Isn't it amazing what rotten luck we've been having with all these manufacturers, installers, and suppliers?
Delays with temporary stands being built, shipped and installed; delays with bars ready before the start of the season; delays with shirts being ready for sale; delays with a big screen being installed; problems with card readers; spelling mistakes on the wall in the club shop … would never have happened in Ray Walker's day.
Terrible bad luck. You couldn't make it up.

Hope the new screen works OK; it will be nearly out of guarantee by the time it makes its debut.

Not only do we accept a sponsorship deal that we aren't allowed to have, but we did it with a company who stopped accepting bets 4 months into the season, yet we still have their adverts in the ground. I've lost track of the mess Gorringe has made of things, but I think we use those Mintbet shirts for cup matches, so does that mean that when Sunderland knock us out of the last cup we are left in we will be displaying the name of a sponsor that no longer operates?

Strange how you only concentrate on negatives. And refuse to publicly acknowledge any positives. It's almost like you are ignoring the whole picture to suit your own narrative.

So where are the positives both on and off the pitch? Are you including in the lists of positives the screen by the south stand no longer showing the scores and how long we have been suffering each game?

So where are the positives both on and off the pitch? Are you including in the lists of positives the screen by the south stand no longer showing the scores and how long we have been suffering each game? Ok... For the zillionth time. TG has brought more money in form of sponsorship in the last 18 months than any previous time before. Thatchers committed more funds with that end extension, and our main shirt sponsor paid the most in the club's history. End of season event was negotiated by TG in town marquee, even by watching the video our standards greatly raised. Profile for the club raised. Envy of Bristol as no other local sports awards came close to emulating our effort. The media has got steadily better. Not ignoring last year's season ticket launch video which won over critics and plaudits from other clubs. I can't recall anyone criticising the video, don't know whether it contributed to sales or not, but again it projected the club in a professional light and positive way. TG has also been approachable and holds meetings with fans. In restaurant last season he took time out before our restaurant meal v Blackburn Rovers to listen and respond to our questions regarding the future of the club. He's also been responsible for negotiation with Thatchers and Butcombe to get bars restored and renovated in close season. As I understand it, our cost was minimal, and both breweries have signed up for sponsorship of bars for a few years. He got macron to do similar for club shop. These things make a difference. There's more, but I don't want to go into it, I think he's helped move our club in the right direction since his arrival. With holtby, the agenda was very different. I know whom I would rather have.. Yes I take your point with regards to the screen. It is certainly valid to complain about that, as I understand it it's a supply problem. Of course it's a fair criticism for him not to ensure this service.....me personally, meh! I mean, really? Most folk have smartphone or device that gives the same information. I am of an age that watched more live football without being pumped with advertising through a big screen. It doesn't bother me. I understand it bothers some. Hey, fair criticism when it goes wrong, but it's only right to be fair when things go right. Unless of course, someone has issues....(Bambi).

Supply problem?how long does it take to build a metal frame to support this mythical big screen.you can get the bits required from any local stockholder and I would place a bet that there are fans at every game who have the capabilities to erect it.or are these the same suppliers who couldn't get the family tent delivered on time and where is the alleged away fans tent that was due to be erected last summer

The bloke has a job to do, he isn't a 5 year old who has to be patted on the back every time he remembers to put his shoes on the correct feet. And I do think that the Mintbet fiasco was a pretty significant mistake. It's not as if I'm on his case every time he forgets to return a phone call or rolls in to work 5 mins late, I'm only commenting on things like having all summer to get a bar re-fit organised and then having decorators in finishing the job the day before it was due to open. Oh, and his pathetic card readers in the turnstiles, that's a wasted opportunity because now that the job has been done on the cheap he's unlikely to be given all of the money needed to do it properly. Then of course there were the scenes where staff were walking around the car park with their pockets bulging with cash because he couldn't organise a crowd of about 3000 to pay on the day. It isn't great reading, is it. Here's another example, Look here, www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2019/february/ticket-offer-blackpool/I'm a season ticket holder, I knew nothing about this until I stumbled across it on the 3rd or 4th page of old news on the official site. No text campaign, no email campaign, no pop up ads, nothing. Now you may think that's good enough for Rovers, but I want better, sorry if that's a problem but he should go and be replaced by someone who can do the job.

I thought the supply problem was of the screen itself? Or the software linked with advertising. Not sure though. Anyways, I'm taking it with your last reply no comments on the positive aspect of TG reign, you accept some of my post?

I received Blackpool info via email over the weekend. It was on f book and Twitter(which I am not on) apparently. The ticket system is ongoing progress in the right direction. It's cut down fraud (remember the investigation two seasons back?) and opened up communication between club and fanbase with opportunity to market directly into us customers through email. The card system is a good move for the future, but like every new system it does have teething problems which now seem ok. I think it's a disingenuous post to not recognise some of the positives he's brought to the club in my post from above, but that is everyone's prerogative to evaluate given the balance of what we know..

Is it Tom G, or a lack of support staff that is the problem? and yes I am sure Tom G has made a few mistakes. The mintbet one is a valid criticism
Tom G is very approachable and helpful when contacted, but he only has one set of hands and it must be difficult keeping across everything, if he doesn't have sufficient staff or capable staff.
Not a defence of Tom G per se, but surely something that has to be asked and/or taken into consideration

I got an email about the tickets 22nd Feb. There was a feed on Facebook Can't remember where else I saw the offer. That makes it worse in a way as it shows that they can't even be bothered or don't know how to rationalise email records. Hopeless. I would be moaning if we were a skittles club and this was the best we could manage.

Blimey, it’s a TV. Surely people can survive for 90 minutes, watch the football and then go home without one. Yes I know it doesn’t look good, the delay and perhaps it is indicative of things at the moment but let’s get a sense of perspective over it. I guess TG has made mistakes or rather he takes the responsibility for the mistakes but he’s done some good stuff as well. Like the ticket thread last week some seem to like lambasting the club. Blimey we’re BRFC not Man U. Incidentally regarding big screen TVs at Pompey last week in the pre-match stuff and at half time the Pompey announcer kept saying next you can watch.... and then you can watch... In the away end I was looking up to the screen to our right and all it showed were adverts and I thought where is this “entertainment?” It was only when I got home and watched the highlights that I realised that the big screen was at the top of the Milton Road end stand and nobody at that end could see it. I wasn’t too bothered but as half the end had Pompey fans as well it seems absolutely stupid. So it’s not only us who get things wrong!! UTG!

Let’s worry about staying in the division first & foremost. Getting in a pi$$ about whatever else can surely wait.
Although something’s telling me certain individuals would love a relegation come April/May, this place would be an absolute playground.
