When watching games at Eastville @ 1985, I went to the Opticians because I thought my eyes were fading. There was nothing wrong, but this anxiety on my part was attributable to Gordon Bennett (Chief Executive) not replacing the bulbs in the Eastville Floodlights. When challenged, he put it down to cash-flow issues. True story.
Roll onto 2019 and it's Nick Gorringe and the Big TV Screen. When it launches, I hope we just show the old Test Card for the first game, as it will be symbolic of our evolutionary journey.
Cut Nick Gorringe some slack. He is not the organ grinder and he hasn't got a funding pot to piss in.

Isn't it amazing what rotten luck we've been having with all these manufacturers, installers, and suppliers? Delays with temporary stands being built, shipped and installed; delays with bars ready before the start of the season; delays with shirts being ready for sale; delays with a big screen being installed; problems with card readers; spelling mistakes on the wall in the club shop … would never have happened in Ray Walker's day. Terrible bad luck. You couldn't make it up.

Supply problem?how long does it take to build a metal frame to support this mythical big screen.you can get the bits required from any local stockholder and I would place a bet that there are fans at every game who have the capabilities to erect it.or are these the same suppliers who couldn't get the family tent delivered on time and where is the alleged away fans tent that was due to be erected last summer Well I tend to agree with you if the supply is of that nature. I thought the supply problem was of the screen itself? Or the software linked with advertising. Not sure though. Anyways, I'm taking it with your last reply no comments on the positive aspect of TG reign, you accept some of my post? To a degree but I feel that the club are missing so many opportunities to show not only the fans but potential fans that we are as professional as the other bristol club but as always we keep shooting ourselves in the foot.every mention of a new ground or developing the training ground is greeted by hoots of derision by not only city fans but potential gasheads.for example the latest derisory comment doing the rounds is that the mem is to be renamed the baden Powell jamboree ground

That makes it worse in a way as it shows that they can't even be bothered or don't know how to rationalise email records. Hopeless. I would be moaning if we were a skittles club and this was the best we could manage. I got the email too and thought it was a good offer. What is the actual problem? Lack of professionalism, apparent inability to merge email systems. It's not difficult to do. Either we want to promote the offer or we don't. I get offers from every single PL and ex-PL club that I've ever bought tickets from. Why? Because they are professionally run, that's what I want for my club, for them to do things in the best possible way. I also get offers from venues all over the country, Royal Albert Hall, O2, Manchester Arena, loads of them, even ones that I've only ever been to once. I guess I'm just frustrated because I read Tom's on line profile and he isn't exactly modest, then the club talked him up when they unveiled him, sorry but I expected a lot more.

I dont think i can possibly manage without a big screen for any longer. Its a vital piece of equipment that makes football so much better.

I hope all of these venues have written to you in the last year seeking consent for these marketing emails. It would be terrible if they were in breach of GDPR. Storing and using customer data is not quite as simple as you seem to think.

Now, about Rovers....

Ah, Henbury. Should I be writing to support or object to the Council's plans to destroy businesses in Westbury village?

Stop it, you obviously aren't a 'real fan' if you look at areas where we are rubbish and say that we should be doing better.

Most weeks I receive emails from LOSC to Kickers Offenbach, however City aren't the example to use as they seemingly harvest details from GFA handbooks breaking all sorts of rules.

You can object if you like, but its all immaterial because its being paid for by the builders of the new mega housing at Filton Aerodrome and they plan to start building that in 18 months and finish in 6-7 years. they will then pay for the "Improvements" to the roads..... by then i will be long gone and retired to Henbury Manor in Playa Blanca

Oh i'm pretty sure they will listen to our concerns and going by the amount of bad press doing the rounds they sure will know our feelings, but at the end of the day MONEY TALKS and it would not surprise me if they went ahead with the improvements as promoted....

Of course they are going to do it. Just like residents' parking in Clifton, where we all told Barbara Janke, and her cronies, that we didn't want it and that they were there to represent the people, not their own ideas which look good on paper but cause chaos when they attempt to implement them, they'll ignore everybody and do what they want. When it all goes horribly wrong, just like the road layout by Temple Meads has twice so far, they'll spend many millions more on another ill conceived plan which takes far too long to deliver, largely because nobody seems to care that the 'workers' on the site do very little actual work and spend most of their days static, in huddles watching 1 person work. I wouldn't be one bit surprised if, when this latest layout doesn't work, they come up with the brilliant idea of constructing a flyover. No doubt that will keep layabouts employed for another 3 years and cause traffic chaos whilst that's built.
