Are we ok for a training ground for the coming season as the Colony has nowt happening when I drove by on Tuesday and was wondering if the place we rented previously will still be there for us this time.Eastville Park or the Downs maybe??? Training was indeed at Eastville Park during our great days of the '50s. Maybe something in that! Plus pre-season training in the sand dunes at Weston-Super-Mare. Also the cinder area behind the Muller Road End at our beloved Eastville Stadium. (sigh) - those were the days.... Seriously, I thought the current training ground now belongs to Red Maids School, not sure if we'll have it until the new training ground is built. As for the original post - no KP it's NOT embarrassing at all and only the Evil Post referred to it as the start of redevelopment, which I commented on saying the headline was rather misleading. from a man at cribbs who would know rovers are renting for one more season

As much as you can trust the paper's article, the new capacity has yet to be agreed by the authorities. If you've got an account you can go to the online ticket site and check the availability. Click link to brfctickets.com: www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/may/15.05.08-st-general-sale/I've had a quick nose around. The new family stand is basically 7 rows up by 50 seats along, with a few gaps, making a total of 341 seats. I'm not sure if this is different than last year, but the South West Stand goes 12 rows up, with a total of 384 seats. The South Stand though only has the option to book seats in the 2 right hand side blocks, a total of 402 seats. Purely a guess, but this makes me think that the other left hand side South Stand blocks will be left depending on whatever the demand is for each game. - If an away following sell out the terracing and away stand, then South Stand blocks could be used as overflow. - If the home areas are at capacity, and the away following hasn't used overflow, then Rovers fans get the whole of the South Stand. As things stand... Family Stand (North East): Total = 342 / Available = 306 / therefore 35 sold. South West Stand: Total = 384 / Available = 125 / therefore 259 sold. South Stand: Total = 402 / Available = 201 / therefore 201 sold.

I refuse to believe this is part of the redevelopment! Surely just a stop-gap. I applaud the club for trying to get some covered seating for families no matter how embarrassing it is. We can only hope there's a proper end game still to come. Please?? You are perfectly within your rights to refuse to believe it but that is what it says, on the OS EDIT : I apologise unreservedly as I took the BP headline as being from the OS. Hands up those who have never made a mistake , anyone ? it seems some people seem to think I’m all about being negative but nothing could be further from the truth and if I posted certain things on here, things I know to be be true, I’d be mentally crucified by a few on here and harranged and abused by certain posters. Why do you think certain of the now deleted accounts left here and stopped posting. People like KS, Swiss & others ? Answer that and you will understand why but I will carry on and won’t be put off by a clique who aren’t living unless they are abusing or trying to belittle people. Yes, I made a mistake. I have apologised for it but I look forward to seeing how this plays out.

where does it say redevelopment on the website. I know the Bristol Post called it that. Ah, ok, maybe I’ve got it wrong then. If so then I apologise unreservedly as it was that article that I read it from.

Have any of you seen the OS claim that the addition of some 340 seats, in yet another tent, is the start of the redevelopment of the mem ? honestly, people wonder why the 82 ltd call us the gift that keeps on giving. Given the size of the so called redevelopment, don’t you think it would have been better to just do it and not draw attention to it. I know many got over excited when the AQ’s took over but this cries tinpot more than anything else I’ve seen reported on. Carry on and call me negative but when the addition of a canvas roofed extra 340 seats makes the OS, surely it must make you feel anything other than pride ? If this truly is part of the revitalising of the ground then I despair. Thoughts ? Where have you seen that claim on the OS please? I can't see it. You're not making stuff up to badmouth the club, are you? What reason would I have to do that. If I felt like that then I wouldn’t bother going let alone get involved in any forum talk. I’ve invested over 40 plus years in supporting the club. I could write an essay after reading that but basically I will just say that all I want is for the good of the club and hope that we have ambition enough to better our position. I’m just not one of those people who will stay quiet when things are not looking good is all. We seem to have a fanbase that are happy enough with staying as we are and I will never understand that

Hey its OUR stadium, OUR temporary fix and OUR way of doing things. If we compare OURselves to the other lot over the river, forget it, there's no competition. I'd still rather have what we got. We all want more, but I'm embracing this because I know what it's like not to own anything, and I'm proud to be a GasHead. It ain't perfect but it's us. Ps....if we have a Shrewsbury season next year, all this just won't matter. Nothing is “OURS” o2, it’s all owned by the family. Given that our previous owners and chairmen were gas then we could claim it was still ours even if not technically true but the facts are the the family and their company, Dwane sports, own all of what we play in and use. We just have to hope that Wael can bring his sibling to be as enthused as him. The potential is huge but we need a significant investment to make that potential a reality

Go figure. We are owned by Dwayne Sports and they are owned by Bristol Sports. They just happen to be a few years ahead of us - I don't know for sure if we will catch up, but from every discussion I've had and everything I've read about the Al-Qadi family, they are totally committed to BRFC - why do you think Wael has decided to concentrate only on BRFC? It's funny how they were everyones favourite people in the world until they canned the UWE Stadium then suddenly all the conspiracy theorists came back out of the woodwork under which they had been hiding until last August. We all have our own opinions and I'd suggest the middle ground is the best place to be - I'm not 100% convinced the new stadium will materialise, but am 100% convinced the training ground will.

I was trying to distinguish from Twerton days and before when we obviously had less than f all (especially after we sold Hambrook). I feel it's ours as much as it can be and like someone else said above, am trying to embrace and support..

Bring back KS/RR/CIS/NQSS. Bring back SWISS. Bring back INTERCEPTOR. Bring back ASTAVJEVS. Cheer up KP. You could be KD. I haven’t actually gone away Shoveler but I’ve realised that a lot of my postings are not of much interest to the majority of fans and in fact they upset quite a few. Being of the same generation as KP I understand how he feels and it is very frustrating to find so many Rovers fans are completely content with mediocrity. Back in the day we used to sing “we hate Aston Villa, we hate Fulham too” and now I guess we would sing “we hate Wycombe Wanderers we hate Fleetwood too”. I can understand that thousands of fans are still having fun watching Rovers and following the team around the country just as I did. But when you start to accept second best and go out of your way to convince yourself everything is well, despite all the evidence to the contrary, I think you are on a slippery slope. My view of the Dwane Sports regime is very similar to the one I had of the Higgs regime which is that if there truly was a vision and a plan we would be getting the message loud and clear. When business owners are on top of their game they want to share their vision and plans because that’s part of the thrill of owning a business. Some fans say Dwane Sports don’t communicate because they are cautious bankers and private people but to me that doesn't stack up because in 2016 Wael was all over the media telling us his life story and what his plans were for Rovers. The reality is that when things are not going well behind those famous scenes we find that business owners start to contradict themselves, get irritable with critics and eventually cease communication altogether which is what seems to be happening now. A friend told me recently that he was absolutely delighted with the polished and professional event management at the Players Awards Evening which is something we have been yearning for at Rovers for many years. But, as a businessman, he cannot bring himself to hide away from the underlying negative outlook in terms of finance and lack of leadership. I have never claimed to be ITK but, like KP, the snippets of information I do get point to a situation which, if left unchecked, will completely overwhelm the positive cosmetic changes and the feel good factor which Darrell Clarke has managed to induce at the club. This is why my great hope is that Dwane Sports are actively seeking to attract new investment into Rovers and will be willing, if necessary, to capitalise their loan and relinquish their majority stake in order to secure it.

Swiss - I won't copy your post as it's a bit long, but....(1) as I remember we used to sing to Villa & Fulham in Division 3 - now League 1. (2) We've got into Div 2/Championship twice in my time but couldn't sustain it. Under different regimes. Conclusion? (3) I'm not surprised that the AQ's are not as rich as might have been thought & aren't willing to throw money at an English football club. They might just though have a long-term plan involving developing our own players. The game is sadly all about money. I don't like that but there it is. (4) Please don't cite B'mth - aren't we all waiting for them to crash & burn? (5) A guy tried to get a Fan's Trust going a few years back & was met with indifference. Guess it's easier to post on forums than do something. BTW - you don't annoy me,rather you amuse me

I for one love your posts whether they are controversial (the more they are the better for me) or not. If nothing else it makes me, and perhaps others, think. Please keep them coming. I can agree with everything bar the second paragraph. We only had Aston Villa and Fulham in songs because they had come down to our level. In the last 20 years we could include Southampton, Leeds (doesn’t everyone), Norwich, Manchester City, Leicester, Portsmouth (still can), Nottingham Forest, Swansea and I hate to say it Cardiff. Historically we have been a third tier club with a few visits to the second tier. Did you hear the winner of Mastermind last night (I can’t recall who he supported; some s**t entity)? "I'd have been torn apart if I didn't win it". That's the arrogance of some clubs’ supporters. It’s also what makes us so different. I want success; but not if I/we have to have that attitude. I am however all for being professional and positive.

Thing is, there seem to be people saying things about the running of the club, but the inner circle is smaller than ever and i expect much is on a need to know basis
Only the other day i read this complete tripe on facebook
" I have been told by someone on the inside that they have a 4million mortgage on it"
If people apparently on the insid are chatting complete rubbish....
What ever happened with fencegate... That died a death didnt it
I am not stupid, or gullible to beleive everything is perfect and there havent been mis-steps in what is an alien venture for the Al-Qadi family, but at the same time i dont buy the doomsday scenario some paint when tbeir sources are chatting complete bollox.
Why is it always Wael and Hani? No one ever mentions Samer or Dad. Maybe Senior Al-Qadi has more of an equal say than anyone else? Maybe he tells Hani, to shut up and let Wael have some money or maybe he doesnt.
No one really knows, and i think that is the real gripe that many people have, which is fair to some degree.
I am happy to bumble along in some respects. I see someone doing more that what previous boards have done in 20 years.DC has given a good feeling on the pitch again. Time to just enjoy it

Heresy! Burn the witch! Some very valid points. Keep posting. Regarding the bit in bold. They have stated that that they are not looking for out-side investment. And at that point - I scratch my head. Unless they are truly happy to write off £2mil a year in perpetuity on a dilapidated stadium and some tents in a crappy bit of north east Bristol.

where does it say redevelopment on the website. I know the Bristol Post called it that. Ah, ok, maybe I’ve got it wrong then. If so then I apologise unreservedly as it was that article that I read it from. Note to other posters. When you post something that is incorrect or has been mis-interpreted - it is perfectly acceptable to issue something called "an apology". Keep posting KP. Hope you're feeling better. UTG.

I’ve realised that a lot of my postings are not of much interest to the majority of fans and in fact they upset quite a few. I am certain you are wrong about interest in your writing. Whether we agree or disagree, I hope and believe most of us want to hear the whole breadth of analysis and opinion from all who care about Rovers. That needs to include the writing of people who know more than ducks about running football clubs and other business. On people getting upset, perhaps they could consider reserving their upset for those in life who might actually abuse or injure them. We, as a society, need to stop getting so upset that we read facts or opinions that do not support our own viewpoint. It's embarrassing. It's babyish. We can disagree. Stop getting upset, people.

We seem to have a fanbase that are happy enough with staying as we are and I will never understand that Firstly, can I just say that I have never, and will never be, part of a ‘clique’. These days I just go to games with a couple of people on here (won’t embarrass them by naming them), enjoy the game and go home, a little sad or (usually) a little bit happier than before. And that’s it, I’m not going to let Rovers dominate my life other than work as it has done in the past. The reason that I get hacked off with the sort of comments like your original one is that for many people it is a trait that has only happened in the past couple of years, when these same people were telling people like myself who weren’t silent to do the same when Higgs and, yes, Geoff Dunford were running the club as what seemed to be a personal fiefdom. Some of the Facebook comments especially have started to become beyond vile from a few people. The biggest irony for me is that football wise the last couple of years have been amonst the best in my 40 years of going, especially with regards to the style of football. To me it all seems like rank hypocrisy as the Al Qadis and board are trying to turn the club from a corner shop operation into a structure fit for purpose in the 21st Century, and in the space of about 26 months. Yes, the UWE stadium collapsing was a body blow to us all, but none of us have real information as to the reasons why, so just make up our own conjecture. There are two sides to every story and I’m inclined to believe that there probably wasn’t enough non matchday earning potential and that we would have ended up with a scenario similar to Eastville, where UWE would have trousered any income from hospitality during the week and the like. You only have to see how much Ashton Gate makes through this nowadays to realise that this is a valuable income stream to be successful. Do I think that the current regime are perfect? Far from it, but there have been enough ‘marginal gains’ to keep me happy for now. Putting a proper seated facility in for families falls under this category. Along with other acquaintances I will give them another year to deliver something tangible in terms of stadium development, as without that progression will ultimately be non existent. But I’m not going to start sniping because of something that is ultimately a good thing in the here and now.

A couple of things. Most importantly, you are spot on, these owners clearly thought that UWE was something that it wasn't, if there is a Plan B then it's a well guarded secret and why would you not share the good news? I honestly don't know what they intend doing now. Appoint some new bloke to do what Holtby did, of course he has different ideas so they look exciting for a while, but if he was that good he would be at Fortnum & Masons, not Spar. They bring in new people in other areas to freshen things up, but it's all just window dressing, the stadium is needed to compete in the 2nd tier, the training and player facilities are needed to attract the playing staff. As you say, if that was happening we would be being told all about it, the silence says everything we need to know. My understanding is that the losses are now greater than when Higgs was employing every crocked Scottish player he could lay his hands on and was changing the manager every 6 weeks. It ain't great. From my position in the ground it's hard to see who the faces are, but from around mid-season there were only a couple of people in Box 1 at a lot of home games last season. Secondly, and not so important, I wasn't aware of you upsetting many people, I had a bit of a nibble at you because I thought you were premature with criticising these owners, it turns out you were correct. I look forward to your posts and have missed them. If we all went to ground when someone disagreed with us forums would be pretty quiet places.
