Yes we are now in to July and pre-season training has started but I trust Darrell will bring in the right players. Just because other clubs are making lots of transfers it doesn't mean that the players they have bought are the best of quality. I'm still staying chilled at the moment but 1 signing by Friday would be nice!

Posted bwfore transfer window officially opens, priceless. Yet another poster who doesn't understand you can sign free agents before the 1st July. And free agents are free agents for a reason, were shopping for quality not visiting the car boot sale.

For that sentence to be grammatically correct and actually make sense - you will need quotation marks around "before". Otherwise much better. However I would suggest the initial mis-spelling of "before" (bewfore) is a typo rather than a spelling mistake. Anyway, grammatical "bants" aside - would you care to answer the questions put to you by Seth Starkadder? Spot on, it was a typo, less effort is made being grammatically correct when responding to Teds.

But when you read clarke s comments he is now saying that he hopes to have 6 or 7 signings by the end of August. Remind me when does the season start

If it means waiting until the wrong time for the right players to be available, I personally feel that is preferable to signing the wrong players at the right time. We have a decent, albeit small, squad as things stand in my opinion and once a senior keeper and a goalscorer are recruited I believe it would still be strong enough to be competitive in the first few matches. I think QPR and Stoke will look to loan out Lumley and Sweeney following them spending a full pre-season with their senior squads, two loan signings that would be worth holding out for if possible.

No, I'm in the background with the cap on drinking a can of lager. The fat one in black. That fills me with optimism about the goalkeeping position.not much getting past him

I think droitwich gas is being ridiculously fair to Mr Higgs. Pretty sure DC can have 95% of the plaudits for putting that team together (and with a drastically reduced budget). The circumstances under which we lost Snake Bench-Warmer are well documented. If we'd had a chance to replace him (which we were denied due to that vile piece of scum deciding to go on dead-line day) - then I think we would have made / been very close to the play-offs. That situation wouldn't have been handled any better (and quite likely significantly worse) with the 'old regime' in place. The next squad DC puts together will be better than the last one. We'll finish higher than 10th next season. If anyone would like a friendly bet on that - let me know. I stick a tenner on that with you. As much as a really like DC, he hasn't got the contacts within the game. That comes with time. I think we need to be having a large part of our squad together for pre season training. Unless we have a budget as good as has been eluded to or we are looking for bargain basement deals... again When I win give the money to the FFSC

I bet you £20 we finish higher in the Championship than you finish in L1 Jools.... Do you never learn? Every summer you lot strut around giving it the full Billy Big B&ll*cks, couple of wins at the start of the season and you think you are going to be in the Champions League, then the wheels fall off and it's a relegation scrap, but this year you don't have that bloke with no driving licence to score goals for you, so the couple of wins in August don't even look likely.

Remind me when does the season start I genuinely couldn't care if it is 3,5,7 signings, I tend to look at the positive things going on at the FC of which there are many, I also tend to have plenty of confidence in a manager who has achieved four promotions in six seasons, people can nit pick all they like about figures quoted and micro analyse, all that affects my life to the point of concern is the score at 16:50 on a Saturday afternoon or 21:30 on occasional Wednesday evenings.

I just wish Darrell would stick to his plans and not keep changing the figures - six or 7 signings by 31st August do not feel me with either confidence or in fact inspire me for the season ahead being even as good as last season especially as two of those will be goalkeepers and DC has a pretty terrible record of getting those!! Personally I only want one target date at this stage and that is getting 6 or 7 players in BEFORE the Charlton game. At the present time without even considering the strength of our squad we are light on 2 goalkeepers, 2 defenders ,a defensive midfielder,at least one winger and at least 2 strikers but preferably 3 and that is IMO if we wish to be chasing a top 6 position. Each of these 7 need to be better than what we have and ready for Charlton but PREFERABLY signed in time to at least get a few friendlies under their belt.

Last season we finished out-side the play-offs because effectively we lost Snake Bench-Warmer on dead-line day without a chance of recruiting a replacement. So by my reckoning we were ONE player short - a proven goal-scorer. The most important signing has been DC on a 5 year contract. Yes, I know we need Lumley and preferably Sweeney signed (either permanently or on a season loan). We already have Sercombe to keep Lines on his toes. All this talk of wholesale changes and needing 6-7 new players to come in to give us a decent chance of the play-offs is actually IMHO bollocks.
