As was mentioned on a previous thread new players, especially a number of them, will take a few games to bed in.
There appears to be a fair amount of news on departing players but very little incoming.
Are DC and the board still on their hols?
Just a little bit of concern creeping in for me.

As you're a half a day ahead in nz, you're bound to hear of any signings first!
Hehe!
Aren't most contracts signed until end of June? So maybe alot of business will be conducted (or at least officially announced) next month.. ?
I'm not nervous now. If we hit August 4th in same position, then maybe I'll seek out my brown trousers..

I partly support Jeff's comments. We seem to leave things too late to get a full/settled squad at the start of a season. As to the June date, which is right, many clubs have deals already. DC is after quality and will have players in mind, but other clubs too will be interested in them. If the target is promotion, we can not afford to be 6 or so points behind at the end of August still buying players.

SH was interviewed a few weeks ago and explained that prices for players are at their highest in the early stages of close season, we, along with many other clubs are holding back a while until prices become more realistic for players, and if this makes the agents sweat for a few weeks then rightly so IMO! That said the next month and a half should be very busy if DC is still looking to bring in 10/11 new signings, that's almost two a week, every week until KO!

The OP is right to be nervous, too many seem to have a flippant attitude towards the lack of signings, but then again ever since the new regime came in, questioning anything has been viewed as a heinous crime.
DC was clear that he wanted '10 or 11 new players', people need to stop taking contracts ending on the 30th June so literally. Players who have contracts ending on the 30th June have been told 7 weeks ago they were being released, and are free to sign new deals with other clubs, hundreds of these signings have already been made and already announced. If we were only in the market for 3 or 4 new signings then i could understand the lack of transfer business, especially when loan deals are done towards the end of July & August. But a large number of those 10 or 11 new signings will be free agents, and at least 75% of them have signed themselves up with other clubs. Another thing i cannot understand is why we are starting pre season training so late, i understand the usual 1 day of fitness testing is taking place on Friday 30th, followed by the proper first day back on 3rd July. Why do the players need 9 weeks off?! It seems like an excessive amount of time, especially when most clubs are already back in this week.

I don’t see it as being flippant, just trust in the bloke who had done a pretty damn good job in the past few seasons. It may have been nice to have some more bodies in earlier, but I trust we will get what we need. Who are we supposed to have (realistically) signed that others have? I am sure people will have a better idea of who is available than me, but who’s to say the beetre players aren’t hanging on, just like Taylor did last summer (and Ellis this year The one bloke we have signed we have spent money on along with Partington and Burn in January) so no one can throw around accusations of us trying to do it on the cheap anymore either

Why is my or anyone else's 'flippant attitude' to what we think isn't an issue, a problem? What difference does it make (as the man sang)? To continue my 'flippancy', I always had in mind that the first week in July is starting-back time, so I don't view 30th June as 'so late'. Which (of most)clubs are back this week? I don't recall fitness being seen as a problem last year on the same regime. My version of flippancy says that there is plenty of time yet and that the bulk of business is done after business resumes (at the start of July). On the plus (rather than non-minus) side, we don't seem to be basing our whole strategy around chasing or retaining one individual, which is nice.

Not at all, I would just prefer to be in the pack rather than chasing it.
