Let's hope you're right back in the bad old days all we could afford were donkeys and journeymen so the signings didn't really matter it's different now we can afford a bit of quality which makes the wait for any news of new players all the more frustrating.

pre-season training starts July 2nd - you'd like most of your signings in by then I'd say. So hopefully some action this week !

From today's BP:
Bristol Rovers have had a bid for a striker turned down by Peterborough United.
Peterborough's owner Darragh MacAnthony confirmed on Twitter his club had turned down a bid from Rovers on Monday...
...MacAnthony was asked on Twitter if his club has had any dealings with Rovers during this transfer window, to which he replied: "Yep turned down a bid from them today for a player."
Thankfully not Luke James, as the bid, rejected as too low, was for a striker not on the transfer list.

1 week on and still nothing. One player in, 9 more to go with just a few days to go before pre season training starts, i know it's tradition for the club to pull the shutters down over the summer, but what the feck has been going on for the last 9 weeks, i thought DC got married and wanted the summer off last year?

I am not remotely concerned about 'lack of activity'. I trust there is plenty going on in the background and that is where it should stay until officially confirmed. If you don't trust DC by now you never will. UTG.

The OP is right to be nervous, too many seem to have a flippant attitude towards the lack of signings, but then again ever since the new regime came in, questioning anything has been viewed as a heinous crime. DC was clear that he wanted '10 or 11 new players', people need to stop taking contracts ending on the 30th June so literally. Players who have contracts ending on the 30th June have been told 7 weeks ago they were being released, and are free to sign new deals with other clubs, hundreds of these signings have already been made and already announced. If we were only in the market for 3 or 4 new signings then i could understand the lack of transfer business, especially when loan deals are done towards the end of July & August. But a large number of those 10 or 11 new signings will be free agents, and at least 75% of them have signed themselves up with other clubs. Another thing i cannot understand is why we are starting pre season training so late, i understand the usual 1 day of fitness testing is taking place on Friday 30th, followed by the proper first day back on 3rd July. Why do the players need 9 weeks off?! It seems like an excessive amount of time, especially when most clubs are already back in this week. 141 made according to BBC June transfer listing for EPL, FL SPL and selected International Transfers. That'll be an average then of about 1 per club, which makes us bang average.

Assumptions, false facts and fake news. rivers Gas has shown that there has not been hundreds of signings announced, there has been 140-odd, an average of one signing per club ish. Making us average.
We know that we have had at least one bid turned down for a player, so clearly there is work going on behind the scenes.
"A large number of those 10 or 11 new signings will be free agents" - you don't know that.
"at least 75% of them have signed themselves up with other clubs" - you state that as a fact, so could you tell us where you've got that fact from please?
"most clubs are already back in ths week" - again, you state that as a fact, so could you tell us where you've got that fact from please?

Is that the current price for beating up one of your disabled season ticket holders because he would not move seats after his father died? Family club you're having a laugh! Don't worry mate, we'll look after him. Now go back to your massive club of retards and get ready for another season of underachievement.

You come across like a sad and bitter affiliate of the old failed regime. Or just a WUM.

£5,300,000 👍 Lots of money and long expensive contract, which may end up in League1. If he was bought for 1.3 million at the start of last season and scored 9 goals I cannot see how he is worth 5.3 million. Just saying lol

Vital Football is reporting:
Bristol Rovers have today had bids for Peterborough United striker Luke James and Tom Nichols [rejected.]
Luke James spent last season on loan with Rovers but failed to find to find the back of net. He played a bit part during the first half of the season but was a regular in the second half after Matty Taylor left.
Nichols has only been with Peterborough for just over a season after signing from Exeter City. Last season he made 51 appearances and scored 13 times.
Luke James!!! Time to adjust my forecast and hopes for next season, me thinks. If James is a target I hope we miss it as many times as he did last year.

The news of Ellis contract followed by the fact we are bidding for Luke James means next seasons strikeforce will be the same one we finished last season with, which was one was the worst i can remember since i watched my first match in 1995. There has to be serious question marks about either the budget, or DC's ability to recruit decent players.
