Not going to sign but the deal he thought he had last wee k fell though shades af carl saunders He has massively overplayed his hand IMO - if I was him I'd get a new agent. If I was DC I would withdraw the offer and move on. Taylor will probably end up at Oxford or another L1/2 club. If that happened though I'm sure he'd still be getting a lot more money than he was from us. I don't think you can say his agent has done the wrong thing. This is liklely to be the only time in his career when he's in this strong a negotiating position so it seems reasonable that a guy who has come through non-league should be holding out for the maximum payday he can get. He's had to earn his shot at this and he may well not get another one. If he comes up a bit shorter than expectations it's no massive disaster and at least he had a go. Presumably part of the James signing is Rovers trying to put pressure on by saying we're not going to wait forever as your fallback option.

He isn't in half as strong a negotiating position as thought he was (or his agent persuded him that was). Ooops.

He isn't in half as strong a negotiating position as thought he was (or his agent persuded him that was). Ooops. I don't know about that - I think a guy who has scored the number of goals he has and is availbale on a free will look better the longer the off-season goes. I can see the value in Taylor gambling on waiting - he will not be short of options. If he does go to a Championship club it will be because someone is willing to take a punt on him and that's more likely to happen later in the transfer window I think. He's not going to be anyone's primary target but I think it's perfectly feasible that a club asseses its playing strength and thinks well we've got 3/4 decent forward but could do with adding - might be worth giving this guy a go. From their point of view he'd be cheap and probably fairly easy to offload if it didn't work out. I could definitely still see Taylor going to a bigger club on those terms or, alternatively, maybe he's just holding out for a bidding war for a set of League 1/League 2 clubs to make him their main man. Either way, I think it makes sense. I also thinks it makes sense for Rovers not to get into that bidding war.

Whatever happens good luck to MT. He owes us nothing. I hope he signs up for us and stays but this is his one chance to get a big contract and I think he deserves it. I don't know anything about rumours, being ITK, knowing someone who knows someone who spoke to someone. What I do know is MT has helped take us from oblivion into League 1. Whatever he decides I am happy with what he has done for us over two years. Summer 2014 on this forum was pretty miserable. It's not now and he has played a major part in our success. If someone has told us then what he did in the next two years we would have been very, very happy. I am. Good luck to him. UTG!

I would say that Gaffney, Harrison, Bodin and Easter are all better 1 on 1 finishers than Taylor. However due to Taylor's movement and general play, he creates probably creates more space and chances than they do. All happy now :-) Given Gaffney's scored just 2 goals since he signed a permanent deal, Easter & Harrison only around half a dozen goals each all season how can they possibly be better 1 on 1 finishers, that's just talking nonsense. Even Bodin's goals have tended to be long range efforts so whether he'd convert as many 1 on 1's is impossible to say. Even if MT is not the best fox in the box he surely makes up for that with the number of long range goals he scores.

He was excellent for FGR (Goodness knows why they let him go - I guess he just wasn't one of Pennock's men - and look what's happened to him.). He was brilliant for Chester (He saved them from relegation). He has been awesome for us.
He has always been CLASS at our level. Maybe he misses a few, but he gets into the position where he gets the chances. He creates goals for others.
For anyone who saw him before he came to us his contribution has been entirely predictable. He was always going to be a Fantastic Signing, and so it has proved. A natural successor to Bannister, Warboys, Randall, Lambert, Walker.....
I hope he stays, and continues to do it for us in League 1.
If he goes he will be a hard act to follow.

I'm not aware he's made his mind up yet? Stop being hysterical. He's got every right to take as long as he wants to commit his future to whoever he wants.

The OS is reporting the saga looks like it's over as MT has finally agreed terms with the club although the contract has yet to be signed.
