You misunderstood me Pessimist. I meant he's certain to do well in L1 - can't you see that from last season? He's our talisman and he would be so hard to replace.
I still hope he will sign for us. The club might not be telling us everything. They may still be negotiating with him - because it doesn't make sense that he hasn't signed for anyone else especially as he is out of contract.
He wouldn't want to be scratching around in Bristol needlessly - he seems the type who works his damn balls off every week.

TBH that would be an hell of risk for them and him, imagine the stick he would get if he missed a few sitters in his first few games. And that is a very good point. Gasheads know MT works his socks off and scores some great goals. We also know he is not very good at finishing 1 on 1's. That is an OPINION I hold and not a FACT. However it is an OPINION shared by an awful lot of people. If I was really bored there's probably some opta stats that actually give % scored of 1 on 1's - but life is just too short. The last half dozen games of last season he was poor. The sitters missed (particularly against York and Daggers) could have proved very costly. Anyway - Rovers fans can forgive MT because we know he offers more than just finishing 1 on 1's. If MT moves up a level and starts poorly - do you really think Leeds, Birmingham, Reading, Hearts fans are going to be so forgiving? I don't think so. You think these clubs have scouted and watched his performances? Yes - of course they have. That's why (from an objective stance) I think he should have be advised to stay. If he decides to go - then good luck, and thanks for the memories.

So you want a striker who does not miss. So if we find one who scores 100% of chances but only gets a chance every 5 games you'll be happy?

All the comments above remind me of those about Cureton before he left, that turned out well.
If he leaves, he leaves, if he stays he stays. DC seems to be managing the situation very well. However, Taylor did the business in both seasons he was with us.

I am pretty sure that there isn't a striker out there who never misses. If there is - I reckon someone would have spotted him by now. I think it is fair to say there are probably strikers out there who do a better job 1 on 1 than MT. Why would a 'replacement' striker only get a chance every 5 games? Would be interesting to hear your logic supporting that number.

How often were the one on ones created by Taylor and his skill, that is getting into that position.

I would say that Gaffney, Harrison, Bodin and Easter are all better 1 on 1 finishers than Taylor. However due to Taylor's movement and general play, he creates probably creates more space and chances than they do. All happy now :-)

I think that with todays signing of Luke James the club looks as though it's bowed to the inevitable, and prepared for life after MT. Mind you he'll probably sign on the dotted line tomorrow.
Closure, that's what's required . . . one way or the other.

If I was DC I would withdraw the offer and move on. Taylor will probably end up at Oxford or another L1/2 club.
