A football decision? I doubt it.

Seems like a good move to me. He should get a few starts, and a few weeks in the North East in the cold weather with moaning Co Durham fans might just get his career back on track. Also saves a bit off the wage bill, now we've got Gaffney. Glad he scored today, so he leaves on a bit of a high.

Basically ruined an otherwise excellent day, what an absolute farce.

The players decision. I for one don't mind, means a space on the bench for someone else Great that he scored from 12 yards today, but he's had a poor season and certainly isn't the type of inconsistent player you want when trying to get promotion. Ellis is lucky he hasn't got a fraction of the stick Matty Taylor gets, and MT is miles ahead in terms of quality. Like i said on the Gaffney thread, his efforts last season were superb, but he hasn't proved he's a football league player. I hope he gets a good run of games up at Hartlepool to show he can perform at this level on a regular basis. I think this move is massive for him, living and playing out of his comfort zone, he has a great chance to kick start his career which is going nowhere at the moment. I'm hoping we can get Tubbs in now, which would mean that our strikeforce would be by far the best in the division.

Have to agree. Full of potential or failing to progress. He hasn't kicked on this year, but I hope he does well and we keep him if so. Otherwise free up a slot. Good luck Ellis

We really must be shot financially if we have to get rid of a player to bring one in. Especially if Clarkes saying himself it wasn't his decision.

Regardless of why the decision was made the only conclusion that I can draw from that statement is somebody other than the manager makes decisions regarding playing matters.

Sounds like it was the player's decision. Frustrated at not getting enough starts.

Sounds like it was the player's decision. Frustrated at not getting enough starts. The ultimate decision is always the players but only if the club agree to it.

I see it more as DC making himself crystal clear that there is no issues with the player and he isn't forcing him out. Ellis has a loyal fan club, the manager is making sure that he doesn't get an undeserved whipping because he let him go up to Hartlepool. I'm hoping that the final piece in the transfer jigsaw is the signing of Tubbs, that would be a masterstroke by Higgs, and a huge final statement that he has given his manager 100% backing. I'm not a fan of Higgs, but he could win back a huge number of supporters in this window.
