We are all talking as if Ellis will go away get game time, score loads and come back and win us the league, and I hope he does, but loans can go the other way and flop.
I prefer a deeper squad and possible 'impact' subs. Ellis is our 2nd highest scorer.
It shows the board's intent, as it was not DC's decision. The only hope is that there really is a proven goalscorer on the way.

I'm no fan of higgs but i really don't think this is a Board issue, ellis hasn't warranted a first team place this season, partly due to the success of others and the fact that when he does get a chance he underperforms, we all know he has the talent. I don't think he's going to be remotely interested in staying at Hartlepool which is why dc sent him there, that way if he's a success he'll come back in form and wanting to play. The board have backed dc with the lawrence and gaffney signings.

Clearly Ellis at his stage of his career needs game time and if he stays at Mem is unlikely to start so the loan makes sense. He has made little impression this season compared to last season against better defenders and his time at Hartlepool will focus his mind and hopefully return a better/match fit player. & that is all there is to it. Some of the drama/outrage people kick up is embarrassing at times. It's 4 weeks, we haven't just bombed him out and tore up any contracts. Why is any discussion of a decision the manager has made always pilloried as "drama/outrage"? The other day it was "outraged indignation" from somebody else. All that's happened is some of us don't think its a good move for the club. That doesn't matter and it definitely isn't embarrassing.

Don't forget the same Nick Higgs who brought in Alan Gow and got rid of our only attacking threat, that showed any real enthusiasm in Eliot Richards. I always worry when the chairmen are involved. This, in my opinion, really should be a managers shout. I don't see why we couldn't keep Ellis. I feel that in Gaffney, we have a players that will allow players such as Taylor and Harrison the time and space to shine but there you go. This is Bristol Rovers eh, a club where the opportunity to interrupt and irritate is never passed by So are you calling our manager a liar ? the Manager has said it was down to Ellis wanting some game time - i don't have a problem with that. no different than sending any other player out on loan just like JL is Now you are saying it was Nick Higgs who wanted him to go ? Why would Nick Higgs want to do that ? Save Money ? I don't think a few pounds saved is going to make any difference to our bank balance No, i would so and plainly, if I thought that. Having had a chance to hear the interview and other information that is coming to light. It would seem that the player and/or his agent, have decided that it's a better career move to have Ellis playing. On a personal note, I can't help but be suspicious and that is founded upon the many instances of interference and budget cuts. It seems that Ellis has a fair few, where I live, that really dislike him and I am in a minority, just as I was with Eliot Richards. I have grown into DC and I do actually trust him and his way of doing things, not that it will bother him what I think lol. I think DC is doing a quick study on the media side and is certainly and already more media savvy and makes himself available to us fans. It would be great if those who run the club, took a leaf out of his book and oeuvre.

It's not the opinion that it is not a good decision for the club that is "drama/outrage"....it is the extreme expression of that opinion.

You have to say that on the face of it this seems a very odd decision. No, Ellis has not fully shown he is capable of consistently performing at this level. On the other hand he has clearly shown he can have a major impact as a game changing impact player at this level. 12 goals is a bloody good return for a guy who has largely played as a sub. It is hard to believe that this is a football decision since he is clearly contributing to our success (and if it is a football decision than it seems an utterly bizarre one). Therefore you have to conclude that it is 1 (or a combination) of 3 things. 1. Harrison wants to move away to get 1st team football. 2. Harrison has fallen out with Clarke. 3. We needed to save some money by sticking a player out on loan.
I would be dissapointed if it is the first because we should have been stronger than that - this is a player who is having an impact on our season and who has been with us for his whole career it seems a bit of a shame if we can't handle that short term demand better. The other 2 would seem reasonable to me. We don't have a bottomless pit of money and if Clarke was told that in order to get Gaffney he had to offload someone else then that is a fair trade off.

Basically ruined an otherwise excellent day, what an absolute farce. You still want rid of Darrell Clarke, eh? Young bench warmer wishes to go out on loan to get regular football to which the club obliges, I don't see the problem unless people want said player to remain pissed off on the bench of course.

Listen to Darrell here about the deal. Then you will see there is no issue and only benefits all parties. Just over 3 minutes in. So it seems like it's a case of Special Agent Harrison is being deployed to Hartlepool.

i like this loan, ellis hasnt really performed this season in truth And I don`t. I`d far rather have kept Ellis, and sent Easter up to Hartlepool. Easter is on the same number of goals as Harrison...

'Pool have 7 games over his month loan while we have 4. So that suggests he could get a good run of match time. Let's hope he does well and comes back to give us another option upfront.

Ellis is only going for a month. Darrell does not want Ellis to go but understands Ellis is frustrated with lack of football so had relucantly agreed to let him go out to out and get game time. Darrell said he chose Hartlepool for his loan destination as they are playing our rivals this month and Ellis wants to try and help us by scoring past them. When asked if we are short up front, Darrell replied that Bodin can play up front if needed. If it gets desperate then will look at getting in a player on loan. But Ellis is only going for a month so the chances of us getting desperate is unlikely. This doesnt sound like there is an issue between Darrell and Ellis. It also doesnt sound like we have financial issues as suggested by some. It also sounds like Tubbs will not be joining us. Can we just not make a deal out of this and instead see the good intentions by Ellis wanting game time to prove he is ready for more chances at Rovers and good intentions from Darrell making Ellis understand he is wanted but gave Ellis what he wants, showing they get on just fine.Move on, nothing to see here. Good luck Ellis and see you soon. At last. The situation is explained in clear words. Thought DC made it quite clear in his statement. But guess people wish to see it differently for whatever reason. Sounds like a really sensible and well thought out plan and should only backfire if Ellis where to sustain a serious injury. I hope he scores a hatful
