the term multi use comes to mind - look up what Icon Venue do....
Unless Planning permission is going to be changed what else can happen at UWE stadium apart from Rugby?
From UWE Stadium faq: Q. Will there be music concerts held at the stadium? If so, how will noise and transport issues be managed? A. The number of concerts would be limited by the need to protect the pitch for the football and rugby use. The option to hold a limited number of events will be included in the planning application. Can't remember if the number was specifically limited by the PP, but that was one part of multi-use.

There's nothing left (apart from the shirt) of the club that I grew up watching anyway. Didn't we play in all white shirts when you were a lad Bamber? But surely it can't be that dismal for you? I seem to remember something to do with a sash style shirt, but most things from the 1970s and before are a bit of a blur.

Say an American invester/consortium took us over, surely one other sport would be American Football, it's a growing sport over here, albeit very slow, but if we got some sort of partnership with an American team, we could do pre-season over there, rather than playing some of the dross here, getting our name about, especially the Pirate aspect, with Football (real football) taking over in the US, we could get quite a fan base with our unique kit etc.

I doubt dogs will make much money and speedway would have to overcome pp re noise, Bristol Rugby will never return and Bath would only ever use the stadium on a limited basis, if ever. The only way new owners could make a return on their investmanet is for Rovers themselves to progress.

Does this mean we'll have similar to the Tampa bay buccaneers pirate ship at the ground now?

Some might say that we hit our low point a year ago & an investor might consider the Club a cheap option with significant potential. The PP for UWE must have a significant value, the Mem has a value, could be some value from the Sainsburys deal still, huge catchment area, loyal fan base, surrounded by wealth & big business, good connections via road, rail and air.
So if one was looking for a cheeky little investment there might just be worse options!

Sounds from our Press release - reading between the lines - it's something that might happen pretty quickly when we know the Sainsburys result.
That is of course me putting 2+2 together and getting a home win!

Jesus, if we get BIG backing....I doubt Higgs and co would sell to asset strippers...they could have got out before....12 months ago we faced oblivion. We COULD end up getting more backing than BCFC, a new ground...the possibilities are actually raising a semi lob.

Following reports in the local media this morning regarding the possibility of a future take-over of the club, we would like to clarify our position. The board of directors have made no secret of their intention to secure investment in a bid to take the club forward and cement its long-term future. Additionally if a potential buyer were to approach us with the right offer, made for the right reasons, we would obviously consider this offer. At this moment in time there has been no offer. However, this situation may change in the future. We have a very clear, ambitious plan to move this club forward and are actively looking for new directors with expertise. That plan is dependent on new or increased investment. We have spoken to Chris Samuelson. It was an informal conversation. Chris and the people he represents are looking at a number of clubs. We can see why Bristol Rovers is one of the clubs they were interested in talking to. We have an incredible fan base which is the envy of many clubs. This makes us an attractive proposition for potential investors. But at this moment in time there is no agreement in place to sell Bristol Rovers. 'What can we tell the fans this time?'
'Leak a story to the press about potential new investment?'
'Yeah, that'll do'

Imagine if the investor is a WOMAN! The Queen would be an acceptable investor. But since the passing away of our beloved Margaret Thatcher I can't think of any others that would be acceptable. In capitals or not, I guess in capitals may make them seem more capable to some?

I think that the BoD have been mixing with the legal profession for too long now, as they've developed the art of speaking . . . but saying very little. Possibly it's a diversion eh? I would have much preferred that they had said nothing at all, rather than this half-arsed statement.
At least we're all used to silence from them, under the guise of a confidentiality clause, and in this case I would have much preferred a ''no comment.''
