Interesting.
If anyone is seriously interested they are going to wait for the outcome of the case

Maybe we have already been informed of the result, hence negotiations?

I wonder if the American consortium is a Kentucky based group...

Nick, if you're reading this, if it looks like Geoff in a stetson hat, it probably is - run.

The story has been purposely leaked from one source or another - no smoke without fire and all?
But how much depth and what it might actually mean or lead to is anyone's guess?
Personally, I truly believe that if this club is to ever move forward, an outside investor is the only way forward.
Sainsbury's win - consortium move in and buys the club 'Saviour?' or BRFC win court case and consortium joins what looks like a massive opportunity?
Time will tell, and is also the reason there is so little movement regarding players joining the club, everything awaits the good lady and her decision

Lots of cynical comments when none of us actually know anything for sure. Why not just relax and see what happens everyone

IMO. Hedge fund, will see BRFC bought and sold on a whim; although, in the short term it may provide the additional finance to build the new stadium. Bye-Bye family club, hello commodity club, its the future. UTG

Surely the family club would disappear has soon as the UWE is built anyway?

At present, the club is run by local men, supporters who mean well. That's gone swimmingly hasn't it?
To say that foreign owners automatically equals trouble is a bit wide of the mark.

Planning permission for UWE and the deal with them is a massive asset. It is the key that can unlock the full potential of a club that has good core support, big latent support and with a huge catchment area from which to grow that support.
This will be attractive to people who have the capital to get the ground built with or without the £29m from Sainsbury.
As many of us have speculated for some time, all this court case is going to determine is the price that Higgs can sell for. Until it is resolved nothing can happen.

Hedge Fund Nice, good bye club if that happens Does that mean you'll say goodbye to the club or it's goodbye to the club? Seems to me a hedge fund will look to make money on it's investment either by increasing the value of the business to sell it or asset strip. If the Sainsbury's deal goes our way & contracts are signed to build UWE then effectively there will be no assets to strip, the Sainsbury's cash will be ring-fenced to pay construction costs (I've always been of the belief that this would've been a stipulation of the contract with UWE), the land could only be used with the lease holder's consent & a stadium has a limited number of uses and in the context of Bristol only one user. The only danger to the club is selling it before the outcome of the Sainsbury's case or without committing the new buyers to legally build the UWE.
