Haha Fortunately I managed to get the very last ticket. It makes me and others s*** knowing die hard mates of ours can't go due to the clubs absolutely woeful organisation of today. Well that is two people on here now who managed to get the last ticket. Did anybody else manage to get the `last ticket`? Paid for my ticket and Kay shouted "All FGR tickets sold out" got mates that can vouch for me, not that it matters too much...

Firstly I will make clear that I was one of the ones in the queue lucky enough to get an away ticket. I arrived about 10am and apart from checking the ticket offices (which were shut with no queue) I stayed in the Pirate Leisure queue. Not wishing to take sides here but to be honest it was very difficult to assess exactly what was happening as people seemed to be given a raffle ticket which related to the number of vouchers they had and therefore I can see NO EXCUSE WHATSOEVER is acceptable. If there was 750 tickets to sell then there should have been 750 raffle tickets. It would not have taken a genius for a Club Official to come out at about 10 am and see there was no one queuing at the ticket office and therefore,as I see it, a straight forward job of giving the 750 raffle tickets to the first 750 Season Tickets/Share scheme members in the queue and then telling them they can either stay in that queue or go to the ticket office to exchange it for a match ticket. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? You certainly don't need Einstein to sort it out. I went away at about 12-30 with a ticket and assuming that people who had tickets from the ticket office had received their voucher from the ticket man FIRST before going there. I can see no logic whatever if they gave out more raffle tickets than the number of tickets on offer and if they did they deserve every criticism they receive. Any problems must be down to the failure of the club to run what should have been a very simple but fair operation.

There were far fewer tickets than people who wanted them. Lots of "die hard" fans were always going to miss out. Why does it have to be someone's fault?

I was there when Kay shouted out something like 'all FGR tickets gone' but what she was actually referring to was that there were none at the front desk, and they seemed to be in touch with Clair who bought more over.
That could have been a different time to when you heard her of course.

From what i have read having not been there was away tickets were sold from more than one location which caused the main problem and to people without a raffle ticket

I presume the staff had 750 away tickets so gave out 750 raffle tickets to the first 750 people in the priority 1 group. Therefore those 750 people who later went back to get their away ticket would have got it. And its just unfortunate to those who missed out. Not sure where it went wrong for people who had a raffle ticket but wasnt able to actually get their away ticket.
Did the staff hand out too many raffle tickets? Did the staff give too many away tickets per person? So the first person with 1 raffle ticket picked up 5 away tickets for his mates for example?
Or is my first line incorrect and instead the staff had 750 away tickets and handed out raffle tickets to everyone who arrived that are in the priority 1 group and the first 750 who arrived later was the lucky ones and 751st person onwards to arrive were the unlucky ones?

No, the raffle tickets were never given out to people to guarantee them tickets, they were given out to gauge a rough point beyond which was not worth queuing.
If they had been given out to guarantee tickets, you would have had the problem of people asking for more raffle tickets than they were entitled to.

Well surely you only give tickets to cover how many could be sold and no more and then only give someone a raffle ticket for each ST or Helpline etc they could show

I have sympathy for anyone who wanted to go and missed out, regardless of how many games they've been to this year, last year or 10 years ago. Yes it looks like the club has made some errors, but as Stu said whatever way it was done there were going to be disappointed folk.
I do find it amusing as per how many people that had no intention of trying to procure tickets today are critiquing the club's approach in this thread.

So are we now hearing the club had the right process in place but the staff didn't implement it properly ?

When I started waiting in line at 740am there were about 15 people with me and about 9ish Ian Holtby Stadium manager brought out some cups of coffee for everyone ....a splendid gesture I appreciated and so did the others.

seriously that was risible from start to finish today. and i say that as someone who got the tickets he wanted. the comedy of errors was too long, convoluted, painful and so f-ing typically rovers that i can't be bothered to recount it in detail but suffice to say that a fairly simple operation was very poorly planned and executed and at several points I came close to an outcome which would have left me frustrated and angry rather than relieved and head-shakingly amused.....we have got to do better than this.

But that wouldn't have worked for people like me buying tickets on share scheme, Helpline and Club 1883, checks for which could only practicably be done once inside the shop.

Well surely you only give tickets to cover how many could be sold and no more and then only give someone a raffle ticket for each ST or Helpline etc they could show No, because it may not have been accurate. You were asked how many memberships you were buying for e.g. I had 7 for different people, some on a season ticket, some helpline, some share scheme and some Club 1883. It wasn't practical to check claims for the various priority groups whilst stood outside in a queue, so the bloke giving out the raffle tickets was relying on the supporter to give the correct information. Lets say I said I was trying to buy 20 tickets, but only had 10 valid memberships, once I got inside the shop my fraudulent claim would have been rumbled, but by then I would have used up 10 off the raffle tickets, meaning 10 people missed out because they had already gone home after being told they would get an actual match ticket.
