But that's not true, coz they were seen as a guarantee. Why? the bloke handed them out made it clear to us that they were handing them out to gauge roughly where they could say to people 'you are wasting your time queueing' Well, a load of people who were there at about 1pm being told there were no tickets left were definitely under the impression that their raffle ticket had meant they were getting a match ticket.

I don't know why then, maybe the bloke just handed them the ticket and said nothing, but people near me were asking as he handed them out, and were told why it was being done.

Unfortunately a demand for 1000s of tickets is never going to be satisfied when the supply is only 750 (or whatever the final figure was). I'm not priority 1 this year, so had already resigned myself to the fact that I wouldn't get a ticket in the Rovers end for the FGR game and I don't think I'll try any other way now, but I have great sympathy for those that went to the Mem today only to leave disappointed.
With all due respect to the front-line staff who do their best, we are still using the same system we used in the 1950s and it seems that we are not very good at organising that either. It would seem obvious to me that we need to drag our ticketing system for home and away fixtures into the 21st century.
That is not a moan, it is intended as constructive criticism. Many clubs that we would anticipate as being "smaller" than us have far better online ticketing arrangements, which also allow for specific release to priority groups before general sale.

People love blaming others. I appreciate not everyone uses the 'net a lot but the basic info given YESTERDAY was pretty clear, re where to queue. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/play-off-ticket-information-2423764.aspx"Seat holders can claim there [sic] seat from Pirate Leisure, and Terrace season ticket holders can buy their tickets from the Matchday ticket offices adjacent the West Stand car park." I appreciate that the reality then got confused due to raffle tickets etc, but surely the basic idea was sound and was clearly advertised. And yet, I got my seats from the West Stand car park. So clear, but wrong.

Yeah, but like pretty much every improvement the club has ever thought of making, they're holding off until we get a new stadium (which is a decent decision, I imagine, provided we get one this century).

I would have thought it was obvious that those who secured tickets would not think that the operation was a "shambles", as they were lucky enough to not get stung by the club deciding to start selling the away tickets from two different places, which led to some of those with raffle tickets missing out. Yeah, I'm a bit amazed at the 'I got my ticket therefore the system was flawless' sort of posts. But more amazed at the 'Someone else got a ticket, and even though I wasn't there, I'm therefore just gonna assume the system was flawless and insult anyone who complains' posts. Errm no I was reporting my dad's view that the PRINCIPLE of a raffle ticket was good, just that it wasn't applied correctly.
The only person I insulted (and even that is pushing it) is someone else who wasn't there.
Other than that your post was 100% accurate fella.

Yeah, sure, I thought your post was fair enough. I was going back a few pages.

If anyone has a ticket for sale please let me know. Good friend of mine missed out due to club incompetence, top, top bloke who probably hasn't missed a game for the last god knows how many years. Any help appreciated! Luke Would that be a match ticket or a raffle ticket?

Yeah, and it looks like that was the root of a lot of the problems (like not giving the raffle tickets out properly). Sounds like it was done with good intentions but unforeseen consequences.

You are probably right, but the system needs improving whether we are at the Mem or elsewhere. EDIT: If we end up on the Downs, I suppose we won't need a ticketing system.

It's not like we haven't been here before.
Twerton Park might have been a s**t hole but the way the staff handled the ticket distribution there for the `Liverpool home game was superb.]
They just opened the turnstiles on a Sunday morning and you clicked through and bought a ticket until they were sold. Simples.

It makes me and others s**t knowing die hard mates of ours can't go due to the clubs absolutely woeful organisation of today.

I got as far as "Raffle Tickets" on this thread and stopped reading as I couldn't control myself and had to go for a wee wee. I wasnt there and dont know where the confusion happened, but if there was one outlet selling away tickets, giving out 750 raffle tickets or however many were available from first in the queue til they ran out seems to be sensible on the face of it.

If the club were given 750 tickets then I would estimate that less than 500 went on sale. By the time box holders, sponsors and mates of mates had got their hands on tickets then the number would have been a lot lower than the allocation.

Were there any prizes given out for the winners of the raffle?
