Well,I have mentioned this once or twice.
We're a football club,not a Christmas pantomime.
Our nickname is the Pirates, due to the days when Bristol was a serious port and it's connection to piracy.
Edward Teach alias Blackbeard is reputed to of been a Bristolian.
Maybe a play on his flag as a new Rovers badge.
Crossed swords is another decent idea.

I was I think the first to suggest that the current club badge, looked to me and reminded me of a panto pirate.I said it reminded me of Barbara Windsor dressed up as a pirate.

If you look at the direction the club is going in you can expect a rainbow π to represent the LBGTQ community for sure.

Skull and crossed bones please. The camp pirate is pantomime stuff. You could also say that the romanticising of piracy is Disney stuff.

I would like something dignified like the coat of arms of Bristol shield (not the full coat of arms which I believe cant be used,I dont know why because it was used as club crest and on players blazer badges for years) thats what I would like but what I expect is something on the same lines as the pathetic pirate.

If you follow the clubs Twitter account it is full of Community projects and Gas Girls News etc which regularly has players holding rainbow flags. Rainbow symbols are the βinβ thing these days - Evil Post always had one until replaced by Ukrainian colours. Derby County Twitter symbol was their Ram under a rainbow. We have had corner flags and boot laces in Rainbow colours. it is a reflection of modern society and lots of businesses have a discreet rainbow somewhere in their artwork.

The original badge cannot be copyright protected therefore any gear with it on could be produced by anyone. That was my understanding and explains why no clubs have their original badge.

Trymer, what about the flag of Edward Teach concerning copyright?

I would love a design that encorporated the blue & white quarters and a skull & crossbones.
I do like the current badge though.
It is right that the club look at all aspects of the Bristol Rovers brand. I actually think that Bristol City did a good job with their minimalistic new badge design. Also the Bristol Bears logo is very well done. The right design could be very good.

I completed the survey received from club and asked what has prompted this subject to be raised? I suspect it may be the link of Piracy to Slavery.
If so I have enquired whether anyone in an official capacity with the club is likely to attend Qatar, given its appalling record on human, gay, women and animal rights, not forgetting slave labour and deaths re the stadium.
Fifa and F A are a disgrace in being involved.
I won't be watching any games and wont be unhappy if England departs early on.

Something bold and stark that clearly says Bristol Rovers is best imo.
