I do know this but ask gascast if they make any money Steve, they are funded by patreons. I do not believe, not for one moment, we would have outward interest in Rovers, to make any money for the club. Prove me wrong and do something mate. Look at our iFollow numbers and you will see that’s not even 2K, #hergametoo is not a monety making product either so before you start calling someone ignorant, please show how you believe it would benefit the clubs coffers. I really don’t understand you at times as you can be very politically polite but then spoil it with such comments. YouTube already has a club channel so ,abbé TG can tell you how much it makes for the club
Looking forward to seeing figures from other clubs. The sad thing here is that with that 2nd promotion came a huge amount of media coverage and interest in the club, that was the time to get this stuff up and running and create outlets with interesting content that keep people's attention. It's going to be a bit harder to get any inertia going right now. I think it is going to be difficult for independent Rovers online presence (podcasts, blogs, vlogs) to monetise beyond their running costs. I include the Supporters Club in that respect. I do think the club could raise more revenue - as other clubs do - by putting premium content behind a paywall. To a certain extent Rovers already do that with ifollow match content, but I think there is a place for exclusive extended interviews, behind the scenes content to raise some revenue.
How much I don't know, but I see that other EFL clubs do that, in some cases as a replacement for the diminishing print programme sales.
To be fair, there is more advertising content with the official club video output in recent seasons, which will provide revenue. Again, I don't know if this is much more than peanuts, but we have moved to a world where the consumer expects benefit for free and advertising is the way to derive revenue.

Totally agree with this sentiment! The whole attitude of BRSC and its acolytes has been that people should go to them, approach them, ask to be involved with them. This is not the 1970s and through their actions the BRSC has lost its influence. If you want people to work with you, you can't be arrogant and expect them to knock on your door. You have to work for it! I wish the new Chair and committee all the best for the future. But this is a new age, a new generation and a new world. They need to be proactive and their approach to the club is a good start. I think some of the responses in this thread perfectly sum up the challenge. The SC can no longer be about just 50/50 and selling programmes, things have moved on so much in the world around us. For many, buying a programme is of no interest now, sadly, its all social media for the younger generation. Its a shame, I use to always get a programme, part of my routine (not this season sadly - the programme is cr*p) Re Caz & "Her game too", never met her but agree 100% with PP. Think of this in respect of the role of a supporters club. Its clear that many female supporters have felt uncomfortable and been treated with a lack of respect at matches for years. Surely, as a Supporters Club "Her Game Too" is a campaign they should embrace and support? The SC should be contacting Caz to see what the SC can do to help and how they can help support its female members. They should be all over it. Just one example. Its so bloody obvious - or is it just me? This is the dilemma, for me in any case, our one season , out of the EFL had me fall in love with football again, I didn’t realise just how far we had slipped from the reality of it being a game of 22 players, trying to win a game of football and all trying their very best in that aim, i also met some unforgettable people some fantastic stewards and club staff, from other clubs and i felt like i was more than just a punter, i felt wanted and welcomed. In our quest to become more professional, WE have lost all of that and i do not feel any of those feelings when attending a game at the mem. I like personal touch, who made the programme editor redundant or sacked, Who got rid of many of its contributors, maybe ask those questions a first and you will already answer why our current programme is not good, the irony of it being voted best programme of all league clubs is not lost upon me. Yes, I understand we need to move forward but certainly not by getting rid of stalwarts like Keith Brookman, Ian Holtby and people whose blood was true blue. We may differ on opinion and sometimes to a great length but surely you cannot tell me that we are doing well, just look at crowd numbers and know that most are made up of non attending ST holders. Yes, change is needed but not in the way its been gone about now.

BRSC have done more to foster the Gas girls team and encourage girls participation including regular funding. They should be praised and acknowledged I feel.

The SC needs to be looking beyond it’s own members in an act of reconciliation with Rovers fans. The membership is generally a very small demographic, long term fans of a certain age. Whilst there are a few female committee members, it’s not reflective of the fan base in particular and Bristol as a whole. I would suggest that the SC try to create a Working Party, made up both of members and long standing critics, whose sole aim is to see how it can be made fit for purpose for 2021. Not holding my breath though. There are probably several of us on here who would have no problem at all with explaining in a civilised way where we think they've gone wrong and what they can do about it, but if it's the same people hanging around the EC table as when I was last there it's going to take significant time and energy to drag them all, kicking and screaming into 2021. They would need to be committed to both change and to drawing a line in the sand today and not looking over their shoulders. I wonder if they can do that? It could be quite a slog if the same people are still there who nodded in agreement when a SS Director sat there, and with a straight face attempted to justify voting to dilute his own share holding whilst at the same time committing to purchasing future shares at, from memory, 250% of the previous price, and he was claiming that the new deal now represented better value. One person at a meeting even famously asked ''why does share price matter?''. You can deal with all of that stuff, but it takes time and you'll need an objective to work towards, you aren't going to get the mindset of those people where you want it to be in a single 1 hour meeting. As for broadening it's appeal, yep, couldn't agree more, that's exactly what the SC needs to do. Their website isn't dreadful, and appears to be updated fairly regularly, and whilst you need a website, as you know as well as anybody, there's an awful lot more than that to effective communication now. Absolutely spot on and well put

I've made contact with David. I've offered to meet him. Who knows? Well done. From experience you soon find out who has the best interests of the club at heart over and above their own positions and personal aspirations. All i can add to your comment is that David is probably one of the most reasonable, loyal and honest people i have ever had the pleasure of meeting and that i would question the other side, if talks were to break down. He is no yes man but he is blue and white quarters, to his core. I don’t think we could have had anyone better for this job. His wife will be helping him too as she is devoted to Rovers and David. Good luck to them both

And that kind of shows the ignorance that there is around the power of social media, its reach as well as its ability to fund and monitise various channels. To create and make a successful podcast/social media channel takes creativity, ability to put that into effect, edit and then in the right areas for exposure. If you can garner 8-10k subscribers to youtube it would earn you around £1000 per month in revenue. Do something where you could engage more fans as well as fans from other clubs and you have the potential to unlock more ad based revenue. I do know this but ask gascast if they make any money Steve, they are funded by patreons. I do not believe, not for one moment, we would have outward interest in Rovers, to make any money for the club. Prove me wrong and do something mate. They are funded by patreons yes, but also garner some local sponsorship. But this is how it could work. If the BRSC started producing content usuing a youtube channel that 5k gas fans subscribed to and a podcast, lets say in this instance it is the gascast podcast was used as part of that content, and on top of the 5k subscribers to the channel it got another 5k clicks, then it would start generating some ad based revenue. Once the cost of production has been paid for then the rest is just neat profit. But the pull for subscribers to watch/listen would be down to the creativity of those willing to do it. For example, the "fat lads go in goal" zoom based podcast is brilliant. They all support midland based clubs, but the banter, the topics, the away fan guest (which Luce Ford and Caz of our club have been on) beer of the week and other little features give it a real good listen. Now technically, I should have no interest in that podcast, because its run by no one I support, but it really is brilliant and engaging to listen to. I know the club already have a channel, but they will kind of limited by the things they will want to do and probably can do. The BRSC could link up with other sponsors, be it businesses or brands to give an alternative exposure. So many options and ideas that many heads could come up with. I've got a few ideas that i think would be brilliant for a fun bit of you tube content which certain personalities could bring to life behind the camera. You cant base ifollow subs on youtube content as ifollow is a paid for subscription. Youtube is free to watch which will garner the more casual viewer more than the serious fan.

You may be right and I have no insider knowledge to the monetisation of podcasts, etc. My gut feel is that better known national podcasts with broad appeal might make a profit, but the niche nature of independent Rovers stuff would always struggle to do much more than cover costs.
I'd be really happy to be proved wrong on this.
As said elsewhere, I do think the football club itself has the best opportunity to increase revenue through exclusive content. Maybe the club teaming up with some of the independents might be an idea.

I am not being sarcastic in saying this but i do not believe we would get close to 10K Subs mate. As i have previously said, we have many talkers but few doers and i included myself in that. Given that we are probably looking into the worst winter than most have ever known in their lifetimes, i think people will be rapidly in the middle of a rationalisation program and will be looking to make savings, i certainly am and i am preparing for what could be coming, buying tinned foods, calour gas heaters and gas and even candles. Anyway, i digress, i do no think that now is the best of times to believe that we would get close to the numbers you talk of but, as i have said, prove me wrong. If we were winning games and had a managers that was popular, engaged with fans and didn’t just offer up excuse after excuse, i think you could even do it and prove me wrong, i think if something like this were implemented during the run in to our 2nd promotion, we could even do this and even get higher figures that you quote BTW YouTube premium is not free to watch, as you well know but i quoted iFollow as an example because it would be the true supporter who pays for it, we all know ways of getting past paying for premium content but i shall leave it there. I do wish you good luck should you try something though.

I do wish you good luck should you try something though. The current offical BRFC channel has 11.5k subscribers. The channel has had over 7.3 million views across all its content videos. To put it into perspective, Bradford who are the biggest team in the league have just over 6m views to their content videos and they are the biggest club in this league. Thats pretty decent. The subscribers are nearly double our average attendance which is generating money for the club already. If you had another supporters club which had the same subscribers you would have another passive income stream. I would be happy to help co-ordinate the ideas and structure but my skillset isnt in the behind the camera (I'm probably too old at 40 for the younger demographic it would be aimed at) and I dont know how to record, edit and tweek it to the standard that it would be needed for YT. That's why my companies facebook and instagram followers are pretty low and need addressing. During lockdown I took a few online seminars about the power of social media and why content should be created and uploaded regularly. I have 2 youtube content creators as customers, one of them being shmee150, who has over a million follwers over 2 channels. He has given me some insight into how and why it should be done and how he does it, but he also devotes his whole life to it where he is constantly on the road filming, investing in new products as well as ensuring he is releasing 4-5 videos a week. Ive started discussions with an outside company to help me with this as its way above my capability in terms of creating the content. It is also about time. My business interests take most of that up and im also a father to a 3 year old so its in short supply to do all i want to do but I could certainly help where I could.

I don't want to sound negative, but you'll have to reorganise some stuff if you want to be an effective SS Director. To do that properly is a black hole for time. It's not a notional position where you walk around the ground on match days telling anybody who will listen that you are a Director. As with any company, Wael is probably going to assess your skills and if you are suitably qualified and able, ask you to take responsibility for an area of the club. You do realise this, don't you?

It could be a black hole if there isn’t a decent support structure in place in which to delegate certain tasks to. It depends on the mess that’s been left behind by Chappell, Masters and co. That structure may need to be built. As for what’s involved time wise, you can stream time a whole lot better these days to make it count and I’m sure Wael will be very discerning and careful of all candidates that are put forward by the club. Either way, I think you are jumping the gun, David yet has not agreed to meet me yet, and the SC have already put 2 candidates forward. As it’s not the be all and end all of any aspirations I have, or have ever had, I’m not going to go and kick any ones front door in. But I’m happy to help if I can. Steve Lamble, one of the nominees has already been in touch with me and I’ve given him my thoughts.

You are bringing a support team with you?
Great news.
What did you discover when you studied the SC agreement in relation to candidates being put forward without a ballot being held?
I know that in exceptional circumstances, if a position is vacant, individuals can be Co-Opted into the Directors' positions, but I can't see any 'exceptional circumstances' right now that prevent a ballot taking place, can you?

Personally I’m cautiously optimistic about a reformed supporters club. Remembering we are supporting the club, not the individuals running it. The supporters club shouldn’t be there to tell the emperor his clothes look great. Ken Masters and Jim Chappell left in a blaze of fury, I’d be interested to know why the respected broadcaster Brian Seymour smith left the scene.
I know people have said before if you’re not there supporting B***** you are not a true fan. I now genuinely believe it is the other way round

What you on about TWD? Are you the master of reading and replying what’s actually not in a post? Read it again and I will reply accordingly. The SC seems to have acted against their own constitution or rather, interpreted their own version of the rules to suit their agenda and circumstances so it comes as no surprise that candidates have been put forward already without a ballot.

The reply made perfect sense to me. Unless something has changed there won't be anybody within the SC to delegate work to. I'm a bit confused, in what way have the SC acted in breach of their constitution?

I dont know the deal with the fans directors, but ai would have thought given the time elapsed it would be sensible to open up for any new nominations and have a ballot as and when necessary. We have been without for so long a few extra weeks would hardly be a big deal. As for the EC i can understand what they have done. They can co-opt the positions they have, but they need to be elected/ratified at the AGM. No reasons that shouldnt happen

They can co-opt the positions they have, but they need to be elected/ratified at the AGM. No reasons that shouldnt happen Agreed with the first point, but would add, didn't Wael say something about the BoD now being much smaller than previously, so he felt it inappropriate for the SC to hold 2 positions with such a small share holding, or something along those lines? In relation to the second point, Co-Opting should, in my opinion, only be an emergency measure. Directors should be elected. Given the apparant desire of the SC to self destruct in recent years I would suggest that a good starting point for them would be to send a ballot paper to every Share Scheme contributor that they hold records for. That not only gives the result a feeling of legitimacy, it will also re-engage some people with the next chapter of SC activity.

Correct Ann. 199 was sold in Feb 2015 - original cost £40k, sale proceeds £136k before costs. Misappropriation of funds (£176k) happened over a period straddling the 15/16 and 16/17 accounts and was subsequently fully recovered including all associated costs. Seems an age ago now! PP So, where id the extra money come from for 176K to be plundered ? Angas @isaachunt ANYTHING.ANYTHING AT ALL ? Sorry KP - only just had time to sift through the various years to try to make sense of it all. This may have been answered already, but from looking this morning there were three separate bank accounts. The bulk of the money seems to have come from the Current/Premium Business account (£150k). Smaller amounts were taken from the Lottery Bank a/c (£10k) and the Business Rate Tracker a/c (£16k).
