Barnsley Chronicle covering the story extensively, none of this BS from James Piercy at the Bristol Post writing that the trial is sub judice and you can't even print the trial is taking place. "covering the storey extensively" - I could only find one small article, stating that Court proceedings begin on Monday. Joey's Court CaseTo be fair Bath - that's all I could find as well. But for Bristol Post to pretend it can't mention it in any shape or form is utterly pathetic. It's almost as if Wael Al-Qadi has them under his control. A bit like gaschat.

The Sheffield Star joins the party, looks as if the Bristol Post via James Piercy and his choir boy won't be able to suppress the coverage of this trial. At least those Rovers fans that believe the appointment of Barton as manager of Rovers was the worst football decision ever made since Sir Alf substituted Bobby Charlton in 1970 against West Germany in Guanajuato, Leon with twenty minutes to go will have the truth revealed rather than rely on the Bristol Post controlled BRFC puppets. www.thestar.co.uk/news/crime/sheffield-trial-date-on-assault-charge-for-football-club-manager-joey-barton-3262621

When I asked Sam Frost a month or so ago the clubs position regarding Joey Barton's impending trial he replied that neither Bristol Live or Bristol Rovers would be making any statements regarding the trial. Obviously that had to change with the case less than 24 hours away as it will be reported in every national newspaper in the country.

A month before the trial Rovers and Post said they would make no statement about the trial, your words. That does not mean no reporting on the trial. And does not mean no statement post trial. What point are you trying to make?

"The hearing is set to begin at 10.30am and is pencilled in for five days." I'd assumed it would be done and dusted quite quickly.

Someone muttered sub judice to Barton. So he brought on another right back. 👀

Yes, I thought this would be over quickly and take up a morning or afternoon.
I guess they 'pencil in' longer, in case part of the trial over-runs.
Perhaps 5 days is an indication of a large number of witnesses and character references on both sides.

I wonder if the prosecution will call on Ousmane Dabo, Morten Gamst Pederson, the Scouse Taxi Driver, the 15-year old Man City supporter he assaulted in Thailand or Jamie Tandy (the youth team recipient of the lit cigar). Fortunately, Joeybag's behaviour has improved following his visit(s) to Sporting Chance (after chance, after chance...).
Interestingly, his Wikipedia page states that he is honorary associate of the national secular society. Funny, as I swear he has also recently made references to his religious beliefs in a few of his YouTube interviews.
I hope the right decision is made, whichever way it is. But he certainly has a colourful history.

The Barnsley Chronicle Newspaper should be reporting on the case, they were quick to report at the time of the incident.
