It's an interesting one, that. I've seen other nations' flags at the Memorial Ground, most memorably Dutch Gas flags, but I'm sure others' too, and welcome them all. Flying the flag of another country in geopolitical solidarity is unlikely to be universally well received, of course, and some (maybe Ukraine's) better received than others (Palestine's or Israel's). I suggest there are already sufficient venues for suchlike.

Former Bristol Rovers boss Joey B***** targets Match of the Day host Gary Lineker with X-rated rant..by Bruna Reis & Mike Taylor.i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article8802373.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/0_JS311922008.jpgFormer Bristol Rovers manager Joey B***** branded Gary Lineker a "virtue signalling t***" following his criticism of Borussia Dortmund's latest sponsorship deal. Ahead of the Champions League final at Wembley, the German club recently announced a three-year sponsorship agreement with weapons manufacturer Rheinmetall. Rheinmetall's logo will be featured on Dortmund's licensed products in the lead-up to their match against Real Madrid. Dortmund are hoping to secure their second Champions League title as they return to the London venue 11 years after their last final defeat. Lineker, who has long fronted Champions League coverage, reacted to Dortmund's announcement by saying: "First time I'll be cheering for Real Madrid in a Champions League final." The Manchester Evening News reports how B***** questioned Lineker's moral stance after highlighting how he presented coverage in Qatar and Russia - the nations to host the last two World Cups - and suggested he'd continue going to divisive countries in the future. B***** replied: "Yet, you still took Qatari money for the World Cup. Did you work Russia one as well? And I bet if Saudi get the next one, your trotters will be all over that as well. You big virtue signalling t***." After being sacked as Rovers boss in October 2023, B***** has become increasingly outspoken on social media and has gone after the likes of Gary Neville and a host of individuals associated with women's football. i2-prod.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/incoming/article4005068.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_Match-of-The-Day-201819.jpg Josephs delivery remains somewhat brash, but the point he makes about Linecker is spot on. You have a man crush

Brash is being polite. But yes i'm in agreement with JB. One of problems is that the world is so interlinked that its hard to draw lines. Just need to drill down into your pension to see that. I hope we don't see Palistinian flags at the Mem next season. Some may assume Israeli flags are therefore allowed too. What could possibly go wrong. EVERYONE with a heart and soul “should” be standing against what happened if Rafah , in whatever way they can. You will not catch me at the mem anyway, I’ll probably be in a March if I am here as none of us is guaranteed tomorrow

I took Lineker's tweet to be light hearted quip to reference to the fact he played for Real Madrid's rivals Barcelona, more than anything else. And anyway, if Lineker would be a hypocrite he would either have... (i) Refused to work at the Borussia Dortmund v Real Madrid match, when he presented the World Cup's in Qatar and Russia. - I can't imagine for one minute he would have turned down presenting the Champions League Final.(ii) Supported Qatar and Russia in their games, when not supporting Dortmund. - I bet Lineker preferred the opposition to win in all their games.

The link doesn't work with B***** in it, yet again. One must replace it with the man's surname in lower case, including the 'b'. Please can we dispense with the asterisks 'swear filter' on our former manager's surname now? You've had your fun.

Nah. On 199. Just looking for a cheeky single to get that double century, and raise your bat to the gallery. Comfortably the longest Thread in Gasheads.org history. It really was a catastrophic appointment, dividing the fan base, and alienating some completely. Well done Wael, well done Tom Gorringe.

Joey B***** faces new criminal trial over alleged assault on wife
Dame Victoria Sharp says judge was wrong to pause trial after prosecutors said they did not plan to call Georgia B***** as a witness
Joey B***** faces a new criminal trial over an allegation he assaulted his wife, judges at the high court have ruled after proceedings against him were previously paused.
The former footballer was accused of assaulting Georgia B***** in a drunken row – which he denied – and was due to face trial at a magistrates court in 2022.
However, the case was adjourned after Mrs B***** sent a letter to prosecutors retracting her allegations.
A judge then ordered that proceedings be paused over concerns a trial would be unfair to B***** after prosecutors said they did not plan to ask Mrs B***** to give evidence in court.
The director of public prosecutions (DPP), Stephen Parkinson, appealed against the decision at the high court in London, with barristers claiming at a hearing last month that a fair trial could go ahead.
In a judgment on Friday, two senior judges ruled in the DPP’s favour and said B***** should face a trial over the allegations in front of a different judge.
In a 20-page ruling, Dame Victoria Sharp said the previous judge’s decision “was wrong in principle”.
He denied a charge of assault by beating after he was arrested by police at his home, with Mrs B***** said to have been left with a golf ball-sized bruise on her forehead and a bleeding nose.
But Wimbledon magistrates court heard in March 2022 that Mrs B***** wrote to prosecutors a month before the scheduled trial to claim she was injured accidentally when friends intervened in an argument between the pair, having both drunk “four or five bottles of wine”.
Mrs B***** did not support the prosecution and was not due to be called as a prosecution witness during the trial over fears she would give an untruthful account of events.
Lawyers for B***** said this would leave him at a disadvantage as it meant she could not be questioned over inconsistencies in her evidence.
However, Sharp said the prosecution was only obliged to call witnesses who had provided witness statements it planned to rely on and it was not “an abuse of process” to not call Mrs B*****.
She continued: “In the circumstances of this case, it would have been proper for the defence to have called Mrs B*****, and for the prosecution to have cross-examined her.”
The judge, sitting with Mr Justice Saini, added that Mrs B***** had never provided a witness statement and had also “expressed an unwillingness from the outset to give evidence against her husband”.
Sharp concluded: “No prejudice could conceivably have been caused to Mr B***** if Mrs B***** had been called by the defence, or by the court for that matter.”

When you take on the establishment as our former hero continues to do, even inviting criticism from the Prime Minister they come for you with a vengeance. He doesn't have football any longer as a shield for this one and the man who single handedly added him to his train set by appointing him has really achieved his goal by promoting the name of Bristol Rovers world wide by association .

I think Joseph recently achieved more coaching qualifications, or is about to.
I think a FC with a few bob might hire him as Manager.
Depending on who was available on hiring ,I would give him a job as manager.
The football he got Rovers playing was at times fantastic, that of a high level. The comedown in the quality of football since he left is in part why I feel Rovers have entered a 'dark age'.
On considering what abject failiures Managers Messrs Lampard,Rooney,John Barnes,Gary Neville etc were, then i am absolutely sure Joseph is a better manager than that lot ( maybe Wayne Rooney will yet succeed at Argyle ).
A 2nd tier FC would suit a return for Joseph.

Bas, it may have looked good playing 'tippy tappy football' but the stats didn't back it up. In a number of games we had 60% possession, and literally NO shots on target or otherwise. You do remember matey that you need to score goals to win games! Teams just let us have the ball because we played lovely football even using the keeper, but all in our own half. We were not a winning team when he left!

some of the posts on here go a bit David Icke at times
no wonder Rovers never got a point when they wore that purple kit (much though I liked it otherwise)

A work in progress. It was "fantastic" at times. Our owner sacked JB not because of results unless he knows even less about football than I think. He sacked him because hecould'nt handle him, imo. I think JB would of got through a poor spell and we would now be in a stronger position. Right now,the feeling of misery and lack of confidence regarding Rovers is thoroughly disapointing. Fingers crossed Taylor can get something together.

Anyway,we are where we are.🤞

Also only promoted from L2 because he called in a favour from Newcastle FC. Subject to a transfer embargo by his own chairman at Fleetwood, lest we forget. He will be lucky to find another job in football management.
