How do our neighbours struggle financially? If I read correctly they have posted losses of over £20 million, not sure if this is after some big sales. Also 3rd season on the trot they have made such losses.

You said you thought we’d be in much bigger poo if Wael and his family hadn’t done their bit. I’ve explained why I believe “ Wael’s bit” has put us in a much worse position than we were in before. And the danger for Rovers is that as the Al-Saeed ownership traverses choppy waters there will be those who pop up and say “ it wasn’t like this in Wael’s time” and express the view that Wael’s legacy is being spoiled. They’ll do that because they’ve bought into the notion that everything was going very well and the Al-Saeeds were only brought in for extra investment and for their “ real estate expertise”. You’ll have noticed I’m not posting much at the moment because there isn’t a lot to discuss on the business side till the owners reveal their plans in more detail. But I will respond when the last eight years are portrayed as having been relatively successful or at least no worse than what went before. Because the figures show that Rovers now have a financial millstone around our neck which will be very difficult to shake off. Well, you didn't phrase it like that the first time around Regarding the 'which poo is bigger' question, which does follow logically, my recollection is that Nick Higgs was getting desperate, and was unwilling to put more in. So sans the AQs we might have gone bust, or down and down But they've got us a training ground, new stand and new owners, as well as larger debts and operating costs. Which, I think, is what many owners over history have achieved in football. Though i hope that, like us, they've enjoyed the ride We're sort of where we were, with bigger assets and debts. But the size of our hopes hasn't really changed And I suspect that, whatever his flaws, Wael is a nice chap. And I think most of us prefer to be in a club with nice chaps I wouldn’t really worry if our owners were nice so long as he/they make sound business and football decisions and gave us a good team. Wael is an affable chap but he has changed tack too many times and many say it’s down to his advisors, as if to absolve him of those decisions. He has not shown himself to be ruthless and I think you need to have that to run an FC

We know how funded just a question of what are the doing so wrong? I've never studied their finances but know Steve Lansdown was always comfortable spending "new money". Bristol Sport is his toy and it will be his legacy. Extremely rich people, a billionaire in his case, don't need to worry about spending what they have in their back pocket.

I should imagine Steve Lansdowne saves more in tax by living in Guernsey than he spends on Bristol Sport. With his ongoing earnings I shouldn't think he's too worried as long as they don't fall foul of the FFP regulations. He must be disappointed as a businessman that his investment isn't getting a better return in the way of results though.

He has been a success though, just look at his stadium, where the football club is now and he saved the rugby club from certain extinction from under our noses whilst they still played at The Mem.

My view was from the current ongoing perspective. Agreed that over the long term sport in Bristol has benefitted from his involvement even if it has helped those on the dark side.....!!

not me though kp - if B***** had taken good decisions and given us a good team, it would have remained deeply unsatisfactory Yet another example of how Wael made some extremely poor decisions. Made some very misleading statements too. Announced the Fruit market stadium on Radio Bristol then kept his head down for years, the new owner has said that when they looked into it the FM stadium was 'never really on the table'.

I just wonder how much information the new owners were privy too, prior to this ?

Joey B***** and Blackburn Rovers become embroiled in spat after he posted an old video of the town... as the club order him NOT to 'bring our town' into his 'public meltdown' and he hits back..By Luke Power for Mail Online.Blackburn Rovers have become the latest voice in football to rebuke Joey B***** - after he shared a video reflecting on the town's past. The ex-Manchester City footballer shared a video showing schoolkids walking through the town's streets and suggested we 'never talk about equity' over 'diversity, equality, and inclusion'. B***** appeared to be using the video, showing an all-white community in 1920s Blackburn, as part of his extended campaign against diversity and inclusion policies. Blackburn is one of the most diverse areas in Lancashire - in 2021, 35.7% of Blackburn with Darwen residents identified their ethnic group within the 'Asian, Asian British or Asian Welsh' category. In response, the club wrote on X: 'Hi Joey, if you could have your public meltdown without bringing our town into it, that'd be great. Thanks.' i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/01/22/17/80318831-12992851-image-a-34_1705946363367.jpgMany fans supported the club taking a stand against him, though B***** followers came out in force to back him. B***** had written: '120 years ago in Blackburn, England. We talk about Diversity, Equality and Inclusion. We never talk about Equity. 'Who has done the work. Who has built the places. Who fought in the wars. Who paid the taxes. Who built and maintained these communities. 'We shouldn't forgot our past. As we look to improve our future.' Earlier today, B***** also shared a tweet about inbreeding in the Bangladeshi and Pakistani community of West Yorkshire and asked if there was a similar 'Rovers syndrome'. After Blackburn knocked him back, B***** engaged with users of X in the comment section. He wrote: 'Obviously some Rainbow flag waving, pronoun-demanding, university educated neo-Marxist has access to rovers twitter account. Does this twerp speak for the people of the area?'

Joey B***** says he 'feels sorry' for ITV football pundit Eni Aluko before suggesting she 'can't count' and 'shouldn't be in her position' as he calls for TV execs to take her off-air..By Will Grifee for Mailonline.
Joey B***** has called on TV execs to take female pundits off air and continued his onslaught of criticism directed at Eni Aluko, suggesting she 'can't count' and 'feels sorry' for her. B***** has been widely condemned - even by Rishi Sunak - for his attacks on female pundits, even going as far as invoking the names of serial killers Fred and Rose West when making vindictive remarks online. Aluko said she had been 'genuinely scared' to leave her house following B*****'s tirades and resurfaced in Ivory Coast. The ex-England star-turned-broadcaster has been a primary target of the 41-year-old and he again spoke about her on his Common Sense podcast. He said: 'Even Eni Aluko this week saying she was scared to go out the house, I have to take that at face value. 'I think she's been a really good women's footballer, let's be honest she shouldn't be talking about the men's game, she's had ample opportunity and she's not got better. 'For me to hear her say this week in the video that her peer group are telling her she's doing really well... OK, well it's not her fault, then she's clearly not getting the correct training or help get better or the correct constructive feedback loops.' B***** then went on to say that female pundits should not be allowed on air, for the sake of their own mental health. He went on: 'I don't blame Eni and I don't blame any of the girls but if I'm an advocate for men's mental health, we have to think about young women's mental health as well, it can't be beneficial to these young ex-women footballers to be in positions and have to shut down their social media feeds for the amount of abuse they're getting for not knowing their onions.' i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/01/24/08/80398103-12999919-image-a-13_1706084457224.jpgB***** then suggested Aluko 'can't count', seemingly referring to a clip that went viral on social media of her punditry during the 2022 World Cup when she said: 'Richarlison is the top scorer for Brazil over the last two years, he's got a great record, 19 goals in 40 appearances, do the math on that and it's one goal a game, pretty much.' She later responded to the backlash saying: 'Got myself a first class law degree, 102 caps and a doctorate but maths wasn’t always my forte. 'Nearly one in two games is the math on Richarlison. But some of you weirdo twitterati knew that already. Might also learn from the rest of the analysis conveniently ignored.' B***** seemed to refer to the blunder, adding: 'The lads can't not have a go at them, if you can't count, do basic arithmetic and if you can't describe what loads of lads are actually seeing, they're going to get frustrated and say stupid stuff on social media and I don't think it's fair on the girls but they should not be in that position. 'So who does the responsibility lie with? Is it on the social media companies to block out the noise? Is it on the broadcaster to take these people off the screens?' B***** expressing sympathy for Aluko after fanning the flames of the online abuse was a point apparently lost on the ex-Bristol Rovers boss. His tone also appeared to have changed from his immediate reaction to Aluko saying she was scared to leave the house, resurfacing in the Ivory Coast. He previously tweeted: 'Cry me a f***ing river… I was waiting for the victim card to be played. 'Eni, sorry luv, you're dreadful as a pundit. Tone deaf, can't count and most importantly you know next to nothing about men's football. 'You should have ran off to a desert island after your 'Arteta phoning Pep to put in a bid' nonsense. 'Everyone is laughing at you. Not just me.' i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/01/24/08/79647479-12999919-He_savaged_Eni_Aluko_for_working_on_Everton_s_game_against_Cryst-a-15_1706084587586.jpgB***** added in another post: 'What surprised me the most is all her colleagues and peers saying she was 'smashing it' to her face. 'Done well to keep a straight face the fella. Someone's a bad baldy tire. Meritocracy rules.' In a video message, Aluko reacted to B*****'s rants, including one that targeted her and Lucy Ward when they appeared on ITV's coverage of the FA Cup third round tie between Crystal Palace and Everton. B***** - who's former team-mate Nedum Onuoha recently described him as a bully - claimed the broadcaster had reached a 'new low' and then compared Aluko and Ward to the Wests, who murdered 12 women and young girls over the course of 20 years. 'Now, I'm open and honest and I'm human and I'm more than happy to admit: I've been scared this week,' Aluko said. 'I've genuinely been scared this week. I didn't leave my house until Friday and I'm now abroad. Because it's really important to say that online abuse has a direct impact on your safety and how you feel and how safe you feel in real life. 'I've felt under threat this week. I've felt like something is going to happen to me. And I don't say that for anyone to feel sorry for me - I say that for people to understand the reality and the impact that hate speech has.' According to the Telegraph, Aluko and Lucy Ward have sought legal advice in response to B*****'s posts. B***** doubled down on his vicious jibe about Fred and Rose West - writing: 'On reflection, I feel I’ve been a tad harsh on Eni Aluko by comparing her to Rose West,' B***** wrote on X, formerly Twitter. 'Had a bit of time to consider the impact of my words after @itvfootball big statement. 'She’s clearly in the Joseph Stalin/Pol Pot category. She’s murdered hundreds of thousands of football fans ears in the last few years. Meritocracy Rules!' Britain's Sports Minister Stuart Andrew has branded B***** 'dangerous and disgusting', while Prime Minister Sunak described him as 'completely ridiculous'.

Well I am grateful to those who spoke against the lock, the anchor, or other means of suppression, and to the admin and moderators for allowing threads to rise and fall as interest dictates. I must say, however, that I do feel Barton had made himself so irrelevant, that for once I have little to say about him any more, at least right now, so I see this thread in natural decline, myself. For now. Does anybody know who of his staff remain at the club? We know the coaches left but anybody else still there? Football plagers aside, I can't think of any Rovers personnel that remain Barton's men, nor do I suspect the retention of such was desired by the new regime. I'm still not clear on whether Gorringe remains here though, so I'm as far from ITK as one could be.

Maybe not for so much longer though given the proposal to stop non dom status. Long overdue I feel.

Shame on Joey B***** and his 2.8m lapdogs for mocking a 17-year-old kid..by Alison McConnell.
i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/25/19/82877417-13237569-image-a-24_1711395796728.jpg Partick Thistle goalkeeper Ava Easdon was the focus of Joey B*****'s ire after the 17-year-old turned out for her side in the Sky Sports Cup FinalFootball is not a forgiving environment. If Ava Easdon didn’t appreciate it before Sunday’s Sky Sports Cup final, she will now. Yet, the 17-year-old’s weaknesses were held up to the most sarcastic and condescending of critiques this weekend. Still at school and thrust into the cup final because regular custodian Megan Cunningham was ineligible to play against her parent club, Easdon did not need the pile-on that came on the back of Joey B*****’s whistle to his 2.8million lapdogs. The teenager was badly at fault as Mia McAulay netted the opening goal of a game that Rangers went on to win 4-1. But she did not need the error to be amplified and mocked by the judge and jury of a group who would appear firmly in favour of the reinstatement of the FA ban on females playing football under any circumstances. And while that very ban may well belong to another time, its echo is still felt in the women’s game. Is it really any surprise that there should be a high-profile error from an inexperienced kid — Easdon had played 11 first-team games prior to Sunday —when put into a game against a side with vastly superior resources? If Accrington Stanley had to field a 17-year-old keeper in an FA Cup tie against Manchester City would we be surprised if that scenario played out as expected? i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2024/03/25/19/82877623-13237569-image-a-27_1711396016668.jpg Earlier on social media on Sunday afternoon, B***** was voted the worst player to ever feature for Rangers (pictured in 2016)
