Ha ha - I'm Josephine Public! My son recently spent some time with a gentleman who had been approached with regards to investing in Rovers, which included the club having a new ground. I think it's fairly common knowledge that Wael and Lansdown are both open to having investors on board. Not tonight Josephine. The only thing I heard was that Wael was now open to outside investment (which he wasn't a few years back), but still wanted to retain overall control. Not sure how that narrative feeds in to a new Stadium becoming a reality. After 7 years, it would appear to be that we are moving towards as a new stadium with the speed of an asthmatic ant carrying a very heavy bag of shopping. Copyright Blackadder. (Sorry, off topic. Appreciate your comments BG. I'm a professional cynic and my hearts not in it). I get where you're coming from - for me it's a case of what will be will be - maybe it will be nothing in the long run!

Turns out it doesn't take 7 years for some clubs. Shows that some people do think it is economically viable to develop one stand at a time.

Bad shout that. In the EFL only Bristol City, Preston North End, Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle and Leyton Orient have done it this century. Complete non-starter.

If Rovers could run a League 1 football business with a cost base of £6 million per year ( like Exeter, Port Vale and Shrewsbury ) instead of spending £9 million per year what could we do with the saving of £3 million per year ? Year 1. Complete the training ground with an adequately sized building, all weather pitches, modern gymnasium and medical facilities. Years 2 - 7. Redevelop the Mem into a modern sports stadium with scope for seven day a week revenue generation.

They should get them floodlights fixed before they start slinging greenbacks at a Hollywood cop end.

According to someone on the non-independent forum, when asked about a new stadium Wael said it was 5-7 years away. If it's the FM, why would it take that long when it's on a piece of land in a regeneration area of the city. It can be built at any time once planning permission is obtained, surely?

I can think of a few others that have redeveloped stands on their existing grounds since 2000: Charlton Fleetwood
Watford Cardiff extended the Ninian Stand ...there are probably others.
The list of new stadia this century for EFL clubs is also not that big: AFC Wimbledon Cardiff Hull Swansea Rotherham Burton MK Dongs [sic]
Morcambe
Outside of the Premier League, the following EFL clubs are all proposing expansions to their existing stadia (some at more advanced stages than others): Portsmouth Port Vale Nottingham Forest Lincoln Sheffield Utd Swansea Charlton Colchester Utd Crewe Derby Hull Ipswich Oxford Reading Rotherham Sheffield Wednesday Shrewsbury Sunderland Walsall WBA

I was being facetious. Rovers lack of development in absolutely any way utterly pathetic going back to every board since 1997. I can’t find the post but I few years ago I did a handsy guide to every Football League stadium development post-1997. The fact the club haven’t fully paid for a permanent stadium development 88 years speaks for itself.
