A state of mind can fluctuate between a good or bad place, or in between - maybe he wasn't in a state of mind to think about whether or not his brother had insured the car? Because he was due in court on a charge of assault on his wife, perhaps? And, what about his brother? I believe it was his car. He must have known the vehicle was uninsured, what kind of family is that? One that willingly puts his brother in a situation where they are breaking the law. In terms of forgetting, yeah sure. But the DVLA text me when my MoT is due, text me when my Road Tax is due (it's on DD so I don't miss it) and my insurance company send me the renewal quote 30 days before the current policy is up. This is not me being "holier than thou" as you infer, this is being normal. You appear to be defending the abnormal, at best, and those that have scant regard for the law, at worse. Come on Bath, there is no excuse. No idea what the brother's situation is - does he deal with car insurance, does his wife or secretary deal with it, and he may have assumed that it was done. Maybe his brother assumed that JB's insurance covered him to drive, regardless of his own insurance situation. We don't know. It seems that the Judge did not consider the circumstances to be "scant regard for the law" on this occassion. Something happening for a reason does not always equate to an excuse.

Maybe you could ask Tom Gorringe (sounds like you get on with him better than me these days). There seems to be a lack of clarity about who ultimately has that financial responsibility. Though as per my point above - if there is a critical mass of Barton's associates in key positions, then I would conclude that JB and EJ are effectively in total control on and off the pitch. Again - before people start jumping on my back - that could be interpreted as a 'good thing'. I must have missed this - (apologies if it's been discussed before) - gives a bit more background to the growing influence of JB and EJ. www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/wael-al-qadi-barton-bristol-7112799Indeed Epping. I would have thought, if this correct, that Gorring's position is increasingly untenable? It was "Wael, Tom & Joey against the world" apparently, I paraphrase Wael. The Board is threadbare with just Wael, Tom and the rarely seen or heard, lesser spotted Karim Mardam-Bey. It looks increasingly like Tom is a CEO without any power. I have no evidence of this, it is just my opinion. But Tom is still looks allied to Wael and Joey. So to remove him now would be pretty brutal. Though perhaps he could be removed on the pretext of the Ticketmaster / Season Tickets fiasco. Cue another Board member. The odds on the next Board appointment having a scouse accent have been dramatically cut in recent days. #itcouldbeagoodthing

Some will turn a blind eye and close ears to everything so long as they get to see a game. There is so much to see, nothing to hear from WAQ but manoeuvres abound. Upgrades that turn into worse than we had before and absolutely nothing from our owner. I don’t feel stupid but i feel sorry for those that are patently ignoring the distancing of WAQ plus the influx of the Mersey mafia Do you think that they are looking for financial control of the club as the end game, or to "control" Wael and his funding? It all depends on if waq wishes to stay involved, is my understanding. It would be involvement but only as a figurehead. Again, my understanding of what the situation is. We shall see.

Did something similar myself, years ago. Leant my car to my Dad, I didn't realise that the tax had run out 6 weeks previously, obviously he didn't feel that he needed to check the legality of everything before driving a car belonging to his daughter. The Judge was obviously aware of all the circumstances in JB's case, and issued the appropriate sanction. Law states, clearly, the owner MUST take responsibility to check this. I got 3 points for not doing so and a 200 fine for lending my car to someone who wasn’t legal

People who've said on many occasions: "I only go for the social aspect and to see a game", now getting all excited about conspiratorial whispers and belittling those who want to go for the social aspect and see a game.
How strange.

No I agree. It is the responsibility of DRIVER to ensure that any car they drive is fully insured, MoT etc. Isn't it strange that people that have consistent contact with the police or other branches of the administration always have an excuse. It's never their fault. It's an attitude, a state of mind. A state of mind can fluctuate between a good or bad place, or in between - maybe he wasn't in a state of mind to think about whether or not his brother had insured the car? Crikey, Mystic Meg stuff.

How strange. Well remembered but, in mitigation, that social aspect is now not what it was and i don’t wish to argue so i stay away. More money saved

To that end, I fully expect Oldie and several others to now go to their local police station and hand themselves in for the various times they have driven at 31 mph in a built up area. We must all take full responsibility for our actions. Indeed.

I have indicated nothing of the kind - just putting forward a possibility, as Oldie stated that it is down to state of mind.

I'm not aware that Jesus was there (have we signed him on the quiet?) It sounds as though the Judge accepted it as a genuine mistake - some of us actually make them. People do need to own their actions, however, sometimes there are mitigating circumstances, which the Judge seemed to think was the case on this occassion.

I'm intruiged about the decision to appoint EJ to the staff, as he's being doing his consultancy thing at the club for quite a while. I guess all will become clear eventually (maybe).

I would like to think that most reasonably responsible peeps would ask ‘am I Insured’ before hurtling down the Motorway in a borrowed car?, but perhaps that’s just me!. #anythingbuttheboy

As I'm sure you know, he was fined £300 (plus costs), however the Judge did not implement a driving ban, which would normally be the case - hence my conclusion that the Judge felt that there were mitigating circumstances. Or, if you live in an alternative universe, the Liverpool Mafia held the Judge's family hostage until he agreed not to impose a driving ban on JB.

I'll admit that I've driven my sister's car without thinking to question whether her insurance was up to date, as I thought I was covered by my own insurance. But perhaps that's just me. #stringhimup
