If I recall, @southdevongas said he was happy to discuss your complaints with you personally, face to face. Bit rich now saying he lacks spine!! And he refused to meet. Always reverts to this. When did I refuse to meet you?

Meanwhile back at the ranch Coughlan’s Newport qualified for a match against Manchester United after beating Eastleigh. Well done to him I’d say.

I always felt he was treated unfairly and, if you know you are being undermined then even the mildest of characters will react. Although I never bought into him saying he’d taken the club as far as he could, I remember Gerry Francis saying the same but after the 1990 promotion. I think his words were that the bubble had burst. We had opposition managers compliment the team in saying how difficult we were to break down. I think history will not be unkind to him. Garners appointment will , more than likely, be seen as one of the worst if not the worst decision made by WAQ and the timing could not have come at a more inappropriate time. Just my opinion of course.

FA Cup: Manchester United fourth round tie biggest in Newport County's history - Graham Coughlan..
ichef.bbci.co.uk/onesport/cps/800/cpsprodpb/1045E/production/_132345666_cdf_260823_cf_newport_v_sutton_035.jpg Newport County's top goal scorer Will Evans (R) scored the club's third goal against Eastleigh on Tuesday
Newport County manager Graham Coughlan says hosting Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round will be the biggest game in the club's history. The League Two side beat Eastleigh 3-1 in a third-round replay on Tuesday to reach the fourth round of the cup. Newport have hosted several Premier League teams in recent years but Coughlan, a United fan as a child, says this game will be the biggest. "It'll be a hell of an occasion," Coughlan told BBC Sport Wales. "It's a fourth round tie against Manchester United, for me the biggest club in this country, in Europe and in the world. "I know some people would lean towards the fifth round game against Manchester City, but I'd say Manchester United all day long." Coughlan's family remain staunch United fans, and the idea of facing the 12-time FA Cup winners was something the Newport manager struggled to come to terms with immediately after beating Eastleigh. Newport will host the Premier League side on Sunday, 28th January at 4.30pm. "We're a big Manchester United family, we've been to FA Cup finals with them," Coughlan said. "I can't get my head around it to be honest, they are unbelievable names. "Just to have Manchester United coming to Rodney Parade is a hell of an achievement. "I don't know when it will sink in, I'm sure my family are doing Irish jigs around the house at the moment." After failing to beat 10-man Eastleigh at Rodney Parade two weeks ago, pressure on the replay at Silverlake Stadium was ramped up after the fourth-round draw was made. Ahead of Tuesday's game, Coughlan said he was ignoring the "pantomime" surrounding a potential tie against United. But following the win over Eastleigh, Coughlan admitted his words on Monday were an attempt to take pressure off is players - who he said have "run through brick walls" for him. "I didn't want our players to feel under pressure so I had to play it down a little bit," said Coughlan. "I'm massively proud of them, tonight is about Newport County, about those players, this football club and the supporters who turned up tonight in their numbers. "This means a lot to the football club and this group of players, they have run through brick walls and put their bodies on the line since I've come in the front door."

Garners appointment will , more than likely, be seen as one of the worst if not the worst decision made by WAQ and the timing could not have come at a more inappropriate time. Just my opinion of course. Except I'm not sure he was treated that unfairly when he said he wanted to go to Mansfield, told the players he was off, told the fans he was off on the radio and then started asking for his job back on Monday morning. I'm not sure I'd want a deserter in my camp either. The fans treated him unfairly though, his football philosophy wasn't pretty but it was effective and I quite enjoyed going to games knowing we were tough to beat and we would likely nick something 1-0. Fans didn't appreciate that though and some even abused his family members online. Perhaps you can't blame him for having his head turned after that sort of treatment. As a fan base some were hardly loyal to him, why did we expect it in return?

They played very well and I applaud them. The gulf between them in league position is massive so it’s one hell of a feat to go down by only 2

Newport did well and gave Man U a frigh5 for twenty minutes. Well done to them. And well done to GC, you know what you get with his teams. 100% commitment, the way the defenders threw themselves in front of the ball reminded me of his time here. He certainly gets a team spirit going. Shame they missed out on a replay and the cash from it.

Former Bristol Rovers manager departs League Two club by mutual consent after 20 months, Graham Coughlan has left his position as Newport County manager after 20 months at the South Wales club..By Daniel Hargravesi2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article9355922.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_GettyImages-1189039913.jpgFormer Bristol Rovers manager Graham Coughlan has left Newport County by mutual consent with the League Two club stating that they're looking to move "in a different direction." Coughlan was appointed by the Exiles in October 2022 and guided the Welsh outfit to an 18th place finish in the fourth tier last season having finished 15th the campaign prior. However, they're now looking to head in an alternative direction with the upcoming season set to be their 12th consecutive campaign at League Two level with their highest finish fifth place in 2020/21 in which they lost the play-off final to Morecambe. In a club statement released this morning, Newport chairman Huw Jenkins said: “I have total respect for Graham and found this decision particularly difficult to make considering all the hard work he has put in to help stabilise the club over the last 18 months. “It goes without saying that I wish Graham every success in his future managerial career. “However, moving forward I must take the club and the team in a different direction and stay true to my own beliefs which I feel over time will bring sustained success to Newport County and hopefully change the club’s outlook for many years ahead.’’ Coughlan spent just over a year in charge at Rovers between 2018 and 2019 having been previously been assistant manager to Darrell Clarke for a brief period. The Gas finished 15th in League One in the 2018/19 campaign but saw the Irishman depart in the first half of the following campaign with Rovers sat fourth in the third tier to take charge of League Two Mansfield Town. The Gas faced Coughlan's Newport side last season in the EFL Trophy, winning 1-0 at Rodney Parade during Andy Mangan's stint as caretaker manager.

I guess GC felt a burning need to be closer to his family again, having realised that Sheffield is about as far from Newport as from Bristol. Geography apparently not being his strong point as he played at Plymouth for how many years without realising that its even further away (feels like the end of the world in fact, if you live there)?
Have absolutely no time for Coughlan and I'm glad that a large part of our fanbase saw through him before he scuttled out the door.

Nothing better than showing up someone's true colours sometimes Shoveler. People may not like me, but I play with a straight bat and there's nothing I wouldn't say to someone's face that I wouldn't say behind their back. Hes happily played the victim in the past, but perhaps those people who treated him the way they did had a point, as I've found out. 🤷🏼♂️ I thought it was more of a childish rant but you can call it a straight bat if you like. People told me that you were Wael's mouthpiece, they had a point, as I've found out. Nailed on right as I found out with Wael’s post on instagram. Could only have come from this person. The wording was just as it had been copied and pasted.

Former BRFC Manager Graham Coughlan has been appointed by National League strugglers Boston United..By Chris Errington, Football Reporter
i2-prod.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/article9726307.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/0_191124-coughlan.jpg Newport County manager Graham Coughlan gives his team instructions during the League Two match against Stockport CountyFormer Plymouth Argyle captain and BRFC manager Graham Coughlan is back in football management with National League side Boston United. Lincolnshire-based Boston, whose nickname is the Pilgrims, were promoted via the National League North play-offs under Ian Culverhouse last season. However, they parted company with him towards the end of October and now Coughlan, who celebrated his 50th birthday on Monday, has been appointed as his successor. Boston are in 23rd position out of 24 in the National League with a record of two wins, five draws and 11 defeats. Coughlan's first match as manager is at home to Braintree Town on Saturday. He worked as a coach and assistant manager for his former Argyle boss Paul Sturrock at Southend United before going on to take charge of Bristol Rovers, Mansfield Town and Newport County. The ex-Pilgrims' defender left the South Wales club in June. Coughlan made 193 appearances for Argyle, all of them in the starting line-up, between 2001 and 2005, and was a key part of their two title successes in three years as they climbed up to the Championship. Boston said in a club statement: "Graham, who turned 50 on Monday, has extensive managerial experience in the EFL with the likes of Bristol Rovers, Mansfield Town and Newport County – as well as a developmental role at Sheffield United. "Following a thorough three-week recruitment process, the Pilgrims have opted for the Irishman to become the club's new manager as they seek to retain the National League status earned in May. He assumes immediate control of first team affairs at the Jakemans Community Stadium, as preparations continue for the visit of Braintree Town on Saturday." i2-prod.bristolpost.co.uk/incoming/article3645146.ece/ALTERNATES/s810/1_JMP_Ipswich_Town_v_Bristol_Rovers_PC4608JPG.jpg
