Holy duck, Toyboy. This is in public, man. Nothing better than showing up someone's true colours sometimes Shoveler. People may not like me, but I play with a straight bat and there's nothing I wouldn't say to someone's face that I wouldn't say behind their back. Hes happily played the victim in the past, but perhaps those people who treated him the way they did had a point, as I've found out. 🤷🏼♂️

Nothing better than showing up someone's true colours sometimes Shoveler. Mate, seriously? Firstly, I'm gettng yours more than those of the Devonian Bolshevik's from this thread. Secondly, let's both of us get a life, as there's clearly loads of things better than showing up someone's true colours, like poor Coughlan (whose thread this remains) getting us near the top of the third division, and like going to my first game in person since the 22nd February atrocity, at Carrow Road tomorrow. I fear a battering, but I will be delighted with any kind of draw or victory.

I'm not going tomorrow, I had 10 days off before Xmas in Lanzarote and I've got a bunch of jobs to do at home so it'll be radio or a stream for me if I can find one. Cogs...yes, good bloke, was certainly under appreciated by some in the fanbase. Also a shame he shot himself in the foot with that radio interview really and that Wael couldn't forgive him enough to keep him on.

Cogs...yes, good bloke, was certainly under appreciated by some in the fanbase. That would be me. We live and learn. Also a shame he shot himself in the foot with that radio interview really and that Wael couldn't forgive him enough to keep him on. Really? That radio interview suggested to many of us that Coughlan felt Al Qadi had already demonstrated his wish not to keep him on. Al Qadi got lucky with Coughlan, and should have appreciated him, not needing to forgive him, nor replace him with his first 'great' reset in Garner.

Cogs...yes, good bloke, was certainly under appreciated by some in the fanbase. I quite enjoyed Cogsball, turning up to games knowing we would be extremely tough to break down and likely winning the game somehow. I dont know why people complained so hard about being in the top 10 and in the play offs that year, but people werent even turning up! I think that DC going left a disconnect and Cogs didnt have the same enigmatic personality to fill that void. It was the other way around. I spoke to a player who happened to be a customer of mine at the time and he told me that they all knew Cogs had been in contact with the Mansfield job that week and that the official approach had been rebuffed and as far as he was concerned the club had made it clear they wanted to keep him. The morning of the Ipswich game Cogs then tells MS that he wants to go to Mansfield and MS advises Cogs to keep his counsel until Monday and they can all have a sit down. However Cogs told some players that it will be his last game. We win at Ipswich and he does that famous interview. The feeling was Cogs had made his decision and they needed to find a new manager. By monday cogs is on the phone asking for his job back but the boards mind was made up and Garner was contacted. That also tallys up with what MS said to Geoff Twentyman where he also said "the wheels wont fall off because GC has gone".....

Not exactly. I have been critical of some of the things that ALQs did and openly wrote them on forums and said them directly to them. I agree with you that Wael probably spent more than he needed, didnt surround himself with the best people but he his intentions were always good and proper. I'll reference a conversation I had with DC again at the beginning of the season where he said he believed that "if Hani and Hamer werent involved from the beginning then Wael would have delivered the UWE and probably had done many things very differently." He also admitted his frustration at the lack of progress on facilities spilled over into the press and he said Wael was the best owner to date that he has worked for. He left us with the all previous debts fully capitalised, the first training facility we have owned since we sold off Hambrook with scope for development to make that beneficial to the club whilst giving us a superb base from which to work from and the first stand built at the stadium in 70 odd years (if you dont count temporary stands at Twerton and the Mem). What I dont like is the lack of appreciation of what he did keeping us afloat through the pandemic, being overly critical to the point of spreading false information as facts, as well as the support that some gave the SC and PC and the dirty tricks they tried to employ to embezzle an innocent man. People take that defence I took of him and assume I think the sun shines out of his arse. I dont at all. I would have taken the same defence if it was you in his shoes. I can see that there are lots of things that should have been done differently. My wife offered to help the club on 3 different occasions with their PR and Media for free (Her business specialises in Marketing and PR and she has some very good high profile clients) for free over the years. To give them guidance on setting up a media department, helping with PR communication from owners to management and players, how it should be done and what to say, how to say it and when. Cover all the basics. The offer was knocked back each time. Yesterdays interview was a classic example of why the club needs someone with this specialisation to assist and help them. The club has needed this help since 2007 when media started to be very important as a way of not just communication but growing your brand. Another trick we missed and are playing catch up on. In my view all our owners have had good and proper intentions but they all failed with the exception of the Dunfords who did succeed in getting Rovers into the Championship and securing ownership of the Mem before losing their way and eventually handing over to Nick Higgs. There is no shame in accepting failure and I freely admit that the miniscule part I played in Rovers history was a failure because I never managed to achieve any of the targets set personally when I joined up with Geoff and Denis. So I don't understand why you continue to say that Wael's time at the helm was positive for the club and come out with the platitude about DC saying "best owner I've ever worked for" which, just like Barton's "superb owner" line, we can all see through so easily. He is undoubtedly a likeable chap and all supporters desperately wanted him to succeed but the facts and figures speak for themselves. You've listed things which you don't like about the way some supporters have criticised Wael but much of that criticism stands up to scrutiny. The previous debt has not been fully capitalised because the 2022 accounts show 7 million still owed to Dwane Sports which is roughly the same amount owed to the previous directors and MSP Capital in February 2016. The training ground is costing 500k pa to run, it is barely fit for purpose (as per Rovers own planning consultants) and a lot of money still needs to be spent to comply with planning conditions. We've discussed the South Stand earlier and it's another case of bad judgement leading to extra unnecessary cost being incurred. Keeping us afloat through the pandemic was a line which caught on but it just doesn't stack up because Dwane Sports actually had to put less money in during that period due to Rovers benefitting from the sale of JCH plus grants received from the government. And at my age I'm certainly not going to get into embezzling an innocent man ! For me the difficult is reconciling the fact that about 30 million has been ploughed into Rovers over the last eight years with no tangible benefit and that the club has been left with a dangerously high cost base plus other significant liabilities. I wonder what the Rovers the Agenda for Change people could have achieved if someone had agreed to provide them with 3 or 4 million a year for 8 years ? My guess is that we would have a new stadium by now and probably be in the Championship though whether it would be as a Brentford or a Rotherham is open to question. The challenge we face is to find a way to help the Al-Saeeds stabilise the club and then go forward to achieve a regenerated stadium we can be proud of and a football operation which can sustain a team in the Championship. We shouldn't go back to a situation where constructive criticism is stifled and the owners are revered just because they have put money into the club or purely out of a sense of duty. I hope Hussain and Abdullatif will appreciate that supporters asking them to provide more details of their plans and making the suggestion that they consider using PR professionals is done with Rovers best interests at heart.

I do wonder how many former directors of BRFC there are, their connections to the current board, whether they retain invitation or hospitality, whether their informal advice is welcomed, etc. Whether successful or failing, their experience ought to be learned from, to improve future direction, I would have thought. Plus it woyld be an discreet, informal, and cordial affair, rather than public hostility as documented above. The last I heard of Vice Presidency was when Faustus (rightly it seems to me) was calling for Geoff Dunford to be granted it. Al Qadi did award Messers Dunford and King this life-long title; it was a shame this had not been gievn earlier by Al Qadi's predecessor when Geoff remained in better health to enjoy it. A lovely lady Anne Craig, Vice President of the club and widow of former Chairman Ron passed away last Monday. Has the club or anyone else announced her departure from this world and thanked the Craigs for their involvement keeping the club afloat during difficult times ! Is there anyone at the club left apart from the lady in the ticket office who was aware of her ! Does anyone know if Gorringe is still at the club. According to those who know, he has been forbidden to comment on any subject related or relevant to the club in public or social media ! Taxi at the door Sir !

As you said, a lovely lady who did so much for the club both in time and financially. Her passion was for the Community and Youth Departments where she used her school teaching skills to the benefit of the young players.

A mutual friend of Ann and Rons has just asked about funeral details. Can you PM me with the details if you have the info?

I'm not sure if anyone has told the club directly? I can tell you her funeral is on 26 Jan at 11am at Westerleigh Crem if anyone would like to know. A wonderful lady and a real compliment to Ron. Amazing people.

But who at the club is employed to inform or contact with information like Anne's passing any longer.Wael looks as if he is also barred from making any comment regarding the club and there is no media manager. Thank God we now have a manager who does present the club properly in his sector.

I spent a good couple of hours chatting with him whilst we serviced his car. It's a shame no reconciliation could be found, but I understand why the board felt it was then an untenable situation for Cogs to stay. You want your manager to be fully focused and not have a wandering eye. I quite enjoyed the time under Cogs. Turning up knowing we would get a result was quite a refreshing thing and we were building some good momentum. Such a shame Garner came in and ripped it up. One of those sliding doors moments in the clubs history in a way.

As I understood it, it was Wael who wanted to develop youth and make profit in selling , that is when the talk of Rovers DNA started to do the rounds. Hopefully we now have people who will be less changeable and will see things through

Your pattern of attack is too simplistic. You like to name people on the forums, recently it was Dave and Mike, although it doesn't actually bother me as I never try to conceal who I am on here. I do get accused of being other people though. There's no need to be personal or has the attack the post rule been forgotten? ... ... Happy new year and UTG. Oh bless you, you've been caught out being a Sh!thouse behind someones back by talking about them and you want to get all forum police as a response because you've been called out! I'm not the one who started being personal as I've never met you but you seem to have the need to gossip about me behind my back. You're nothing to do with Rovers and haven't been for many years so why is little old me of such an interest to you then and now? ... ... Edited above to make point. Gentlemen, I appreciate that there has been no complaint, but I would reiterate the rule that, as SDG asked above, still stands, that you should attack the post not the poster. And please don't come back saying 'he started it' or 'or my dad/uncle/sister etc is bigger than yours'.... We want to hear opinion not abuse. Thanks and best regards, Cheshire

Thanks and best regards, Cheshire I did attack his assertion that I had some sort of agenda, something he's snidely levelled for a while. I also called him out for telling lies and talking about me to other people. Not my fault he's known for being a *******.
