I'd like to echo some of the sentiment above. I realise that running these things is a thankless task and appreciate your efforts for keeping it going for 6 years.
If I didn't have young kids and a shed load of other commitments I'd be interested in taking it on as it would be a shame if it went. If someone needs technical help and can do the rest then PM me but I haven't the time to take it all on and do it justice

Jeff, you do a mint job, as do the others. Hopefully this site stays as having never even read the other one, it's here or the often ludicrous Facebook pages.

I'm an infrequent poster but have noticed that there have been an increasing number of personal attacks on this forum. I suspect a lot of it is frustration caused by the lack of off-field progress. Whilst I don't often post here or the other forum, it would be a shame if either of them were closed down, so I also thank Jeff for his work and hope someone with the right time and technical skills can take over the forum.

Doh! Just when I was beginning to climb the predictions league. I’m dropping like a stone after starting well. A bit like BRFC during most seasons in the late 60s / early 70s! UTG!

I shall miss the prediction league very much, but the forum as a whole has turned into a complete farce taken over by a few childish and not so very clever keyboard warriors, a real shame for us who enjoyed friendly banter on the prediction thread.

To all of those in the prediction league, I will try to continue it in some shape or form. Options being looked at. Over the years it has become part of my way of life, and I would miss it and the friendships I have made through it. If it continues, I promise I will try to emulate dido every few weeks so I fall down the standings. I will let you know of the outcome.

I would like to say thanks to Jeff,I have been interested reading about Rovers on here for some years, sadly it seems that forums have a limited lifespan. To be honest some of the posts recently have made uncomfortable reading, the "I would rather take drugs than have sex" type posts make me feel like an evesdropper on some weird group therapy session.

What a star, Jeff NZ is!
Thanks for putting up with my immaturity and soapbox..
It's nice to have an alternative forum to the other one, but that's a luxury, and ive never taken it for granted.
Why do I feel like this forum is like a c*ty bank balance on the last day of 1981...?

A while back I posted about the immature nature of the headlines of some topics. “GC is a Dick” for example. Didn’t get a lot of people agreeing with me. Perhaps Stewy2016 might like to give us his thoughts. Sorry to see you go, but can I can understand why.

Thanks for all the kind words, quite humbling.
An update:
I have received an offer from one member to cover the cost of running the forum.
Hopefully, that's one less barrier for anyone thinking of stepping forward for the role.

Hi Jeffnz although ive only been on this forum for five months i always regarded you as bit of an 'elder Statesman' You would 'down under' different circumstances have been an ideal replacement for John Bercow. He was also very good at keeping the 'gimps' in good orderrrrrrrrrr
I have to admit that on a few occasions i have bemoaned the fact to there being a lack of activity on the forum. Threads titled 'thread or dead' , 'hello' and the latest one 'Trick or 'treat' was my attempt to get some reaction. As others have already commented the main problem is as the club has been 'flatlining' for some tiime now there just is no football news to speak off.
I really hope this forum carries on your legacy, its got a chance theres some really bright posters currently on board.
All the very best for the future see you around! UTG.

John Bercow, that made me laugh. I'm of similar stature and have as many grey hairs as him so a good analogy! Anyway best not talk about that as it may be considered political and I'll get in hot water with the mods.

I think the main reasons for the 'detours' are there are not enough active participants, a fondness of pedantry and some just want to hijack a post for their own entertainment. It was not long before over-the-top and inappropriate words, I will not get drawn in, so that's all I've got to say about that. That's the conundrum though, isn't it. If there were more active contributors then the 'detours' would be lost in the bigger picture. A while back, I think it was concerning the 2016 referendum, we got talking about that and admin made a decision to leave the thread alone, after a few days those who had an opinion had had their little 'soap box' moment and the thread just dropped by itself. Who was hurt or hugely inconvenienced by that? Apart from Mike threatening people, I don't remember anything actually nasty on here, ever, so I'm kind of with Gregory. I could call it travels with my tackle, nice football pun there. I could do it in instalments and by country. In all seriousness, I now wish I had been the settling kind. There were 4-5 I could have easily handled as a partner but, sadly, in my younger years I just didn’t ever want to settle and seeing my brothers all get divorced, it just put me off. I did get engaged once though. I would chip in, to keep the forum going vaughan

When I first made the transition from the old official forum, I was used to argument, was defensive and could act in haste. The intelligence and knowledge, in this forum, are of a much higher level. People use big words, write well and most will know, English was not my first language so I learned much from here but, more importantly, I learned when to say nothing. I think I progressed well after coming on here but that’s for others to judge. I have been popping onto the other place of late, mainly due to lack of activity., every single thread degenerates into silly stuff or can get very personal. There are a fair few passive aggressive types there and, although not as much content here one can guarantee that posts here hold more real information and are, in the main, decent and not bordering on fight talk. I really hope someone take up the mantle and can do just half as good a job as JeffNZ. Thank you to all who have been mentors although not knowing so

Thanks JeffNZ, I read the forum most days and will miss it if it goes. Hope someone is willing to take on the thankless task of running it, wish I had the energy to do so myself.

Jeff, How many members do we have on this Forum? How many have contributed in last 12 months? Not a straightforward answer I'm afraid Vaughan. We have 2,165 registered users. Of those around 800 have logged on in the last 12 months I estimate we have around 100 regular posters (Some post much more than others of course) There are approx 1.5 new threads created each day (across the whole forum, not just the Gas Guzzler section). There are approx 40 posts (member contributions) a day (again across the whole forum, not just the Gas Guzzler section) We get around 800 guests viewing the forum every day (Guests are either bots, non-members or members who do not log on) We had 314,930 pageviews last month (this will include search engine bots but still a massive number for a supposedly ailing forum) Hope that's what you were looking for.

That's great detail. Cheers.
Well worth persevering.
I would suggest a simple football thread per day, where we can discuss football news.
I think people get put off this site with it being overtly political. Especially younger supporters.
Just a simple daily thread where people can come on and get Rovers / football news / thoughts would be good.
