Once on a Saturday in 80s as a teenager, mate drove, old bill said a mob were looking for Bristol outside....then promptly buggered off to leave us! Second was 98/99 on a night match which I drove from Manchester.....great match (NOT!) 0-0 boring. Remember that one too bloody long journey for a 0-0.

My earliest memory of Saltergate goes back to November 1985 when we trained it up there only for the game to be abandoned at half-time due to freezing fog! I recall we were either 1 up or 1-1 at the time but the goalscorer (Steve White??) was way out sight through the fog and it was only when we saw the players running back to take up their places for the restart that we realised we'd scored! The game was due to be replayed in the following February but was called off and finally went ahead in April when we lost by a goal or two from memory. As a result of the abandonment Chesterfield gave us complimentaries for the rearranged game and Rovers put on free coaches.
Great "old school" ground and decent boozers around the ground and in the Market Place made it a good day out!

For my own sanity, can someone confirm it was Warboys who scored in April 1973. Is there anything left of Saltergate or is it a supermarket etc?Barrett Homes, new housing estate. Nothing left of it, but some roads named after the old ground and players I think. One road called something like Spire Heights?

BBC stats looking good for the Gas - anyone there / has commentary who can confirm we're on top?

And the sh*t are 2-0 down at Reading... "I've never felt more like singing the blues - when Rovers win and s**tty lose, oh Rovers you've got me singing the blues."

We just can't stop letting in goals.
Sooner or later Darrel is going to have to realise that he needs help with getting the defence organised!

From radio commentary sounds like Chesterfield are a bit physical with some of their challenges. Two yellows to them already.

Ridiculous.
After 4-0, 5-1 and 2 pantomime goals gifted to a L2 team you would think they would rely on Taylor and Easter to do what they do and just go out there to concentrate on keeping a clean sheet to build some confidence.
Whoever is organising our defence needs to be thanked for their efforts and shown the door.
