Sheds some pounds! Good to see that Clarke had a word with him at the end of last season and said he was not fit enough.

Looks like Clarke wants players to be fit and want the right things before football comes into it. Good to see things are changing.

Yeah, I saw Parkes the other day and it sure is noticeable! Looks a lot leaner now, can only be a good thing. Well done DC, some managers are too nicey nicey and wouldn't of pulled him up on it, good to hear.

That's good news.
Good for Tom but great for Rovers we have a manager who see' these things and insists on players doing something about it!
Darrel Clark is as far as I/we can tell so far a very posistive attacking manager, imo.
Yes in retrospect he could of done a tactical Atkins at the end of last season and we may of stayed up,that part is actually tragic, but,he thought/hoped he could drag an extra win out of the team so he went with that instinct.A lesson learnt, but I think if he had been given more time he would of turned it around.
Anyway,Tom Parkes minus a few klgs should mean a better player.

"a lesson learnt" or just a view point of a forum user who I assume has never managed a football league side?
We were already doomed under JW negative tactics so DC clearly had to try a different approach, which he almost pulled off.

I was not blaming DC for the relegation and the experience of his first few games as Rovers manager will be an experience he'll learn from. That's life. I think he said himself he may of 'tried to change things too quickly' thus suggesting he could of done things differently.Learning retrospectively. My comment was aimed at those who feel he did a bad job,an opinion I do not share. I'm looking forward to what seems maybe a fitter team,a team who competes, when in possession we'll pass a lot along the ground at a decent tempo (better passing field minus the rugby!,shorter grass I assume),we'll use the flanks,Ryan Brunt maybe be back firing on all cylinders etc. The Board as ever do not convince me at all and they may prove to be a serious weak link again. I hope not.

The problem with Parkes has always been his concentration levels (for the full 90 minutes) Hopefully he can rectify that side of his game as it really will make him a better player (or the player that was hinted at when we first signed him).

Two, Morecambe home and Wycombe away. On Parkes I hope his weight shedding will result in him having a bit of pace, or confidence to use his right boot more!

Parkes shouldn't have been overweight, it's a disgrace especially for a 21 year old.
Clutching a pint of cider two days before the Mansfield game is a disgusting image.

I'm bound to agree with all of that. Horse, stable door and bolting all spring to mind here. But then again we are almost at the start of a new season, so it's a fresh start for everyone. It's just a shame that it's Conference League football that's on the horizon. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards, eh?

It may have been, but another PR own goal considering the time of the release of the picture and considering Parkes is/was overweight and there was some hearsay about his nights out. The PR at BRFC and its lack of thoughtfulness and professionalism astounds me.
