What example does it set to the rest of the team, even club, if the Captain is setting such a poor example and, apparently, not being disaplined by the manager.
It's interesting fans say they are glad DC's setting good standards but blame Box 1 for last season's failings!

It's a fair point Topper and things can get complicated when a new manager begins and seems to have a refreshing outlook. But,for me it's a case of new manager looking feesh and appearing to be very positive (I like DC). But,the old guard Box 1 still appear to be the same and they have been responsible for much that has gone wrong in the last few years. As for last season,i do blame Box 1 and do not blame DC at all. As I said in retrospect DC could of been abit more Atkins in his short time in charge,he said as much himself, but personally I don't blame the bloke and you know,we went close to getting a point v Stags . One can only guess what the thinking behind Box 1s strategy. 'Slept walked into dropping out of the FL' appears quite accurate. They dropped DC right in it. I blame the board and Ward for our relegation. Who is more to blame seems impossible to know as the details of what goes on in that 'bunker' seem to remain there.

The only alternative he had was to turn the job down and I don't think anyone in his position would want to be without work. Personally I don't blame him at all for relegation. We had a team in disarray and players not seeming to be bothered save a couple of them. I do however place blame with the board. I said it before the season that I feared the stadium business had a big chance of taking the onus off of footballing matters. We just had the perfect storm in that everything that could go wrong did go wrong plus we never had the leadership that was necessary to guide the club away from relegation.

But it did become a habit, this is why he was overweight. I reiterate my point that a 21 year-old pro footballer should not be overweight. That means he was eating and/or drinking a hell of a lot. Targets attained? He was overweight and we got relegated! Do you put our relegation solely at Parkes feet ? Personally I have never seen him as captain material. I have never heard him shout to keep lines or organise his players. We really need a decent leader on the pitch. The last player I saw with us that did this was Pat Baldwin. He really made a difference in the short period he had with us. Apparently talks broke down at the last hurdle. I think we suffered from the top down last season. I'd like to think lessons have been learned but that has not been proven the case before this Well the dynamic BoD have already said it was Ward's fault and Parkes was his overweight captain. TBH I haven't seen much of Parkes in a Rovers shirt but I hear is concentration has been poor. That will be his poor diet. Baldwin might be vocal but he is terrible!

I appreciate that it's the norm on this forum to blame the BoD for every failing related to the club, but surely the fitness of players is the sole responsibility of the manager and coaching staff. Or perhaps we should blame the tea lady, she obviously gives out far to many unhealthy cakes & biscuits! Crap attitude from the top will spread down through the ranks. This will show itself in various ways. This is why great leaders will lead and inspire the people in their club. Weak leaders will have an opposite effect. Common sense. I disagree that this forum is particularly one view point or another. It has many differing points of views, but some poster don't see this or it apparentling suits them to not see this. also a Crap attitude from the fans will have the same effect - lets hope they don't read this forum then !
