It could be true that NH doesn't know who the consortium is (officially no, privately, yes), he may be just dealing with the "front man". I still believe JTS is right in the broad sense, if not the detailed one. LOL perhaps he wants to find out himself? Although this "I'm going to deny this but not quite deny it" stuff seems a bit childish, why doesn't he come straight out and deny the rumour or just not say anything at all? Not saying anything has worked so well in the past ............

Sorry but don't believe in any of these rumours at all!. One minute we are told UWE are building a stadium: next another interested party will fund it. Both models of working totally contradict each other. our only option enforced on us is NH and co who have been trying but failed on 3-4 drawn up projects at the MEM. Sadly: our desire to believe that a 'gold mine' will happen one day is slightly justified. We are a club that averages over 7500 : we took 32000 to wembley and our fanbase and support should be respected. Currently : our average attendance including division one and two sides would put us in the top 10: even above Swindon. So fans rightly ask why is it every other biggish club have stadiums which are worthy to use . So what is my solution ??. We can't rewind time but we need to be totally realistic. Firstly NH will just keep fighting and fighting in order to justify the money he as spent on previous projects . It would be interesting to actually find out how much ?. And can we carry on these fights knowing it's costing us money which could be used elsewhere ?. So I would.. Stop any dreams and ego's about mystery heavyweights ploughing money in. I would divert all funds to the playing budget and realistic upgrading of the MEM. I would suggest CS contacts the football foundation to find out how much is available ?. My 3 year project would involve a) A new south stand B) Divison one football and that's it. Of course some would say I am a 'killjoy' . But I rather focus on the small things we can do rather than the thing's we can't. I hear you loud & clear and I can empathise. So many projects down the drain and then, the unthinkable relegation to the non leagues. Please remember that NH has form on not telling us the truth and even to the point where many of us went to Whaddon road, when he already knew it was not going to happen. That one in particular is one I can't forget nor forgive. There are many other examples but I have promised myself not to get into that, it only serves to wind me up and I don't need that. It is very hard being a Rovers supporter. We must be masochists really but I hold onto the dream. That's my choice though and, quite rightly, you have yours. One can only take so much disappointment. I much prefer just turning up to games and trying to leave the politics alone. I've learned, the hard way, that getting the truth is never going to be easy. I would hope that most of us had aspirations of at least championship football though. I have lowered my expectations more than enough as it is.

I would hope that most of us had aspirations of at least championship football though. I have lowered my expectations more than enough as it is. I did exactly that for many many years KP; pitched up, paid my entry fee, had a really good/bad/indifferent time of it by purely watching the game . . . and then went home and thought about something else. I can honestly say that I never gave a thought to the Boardroom or BoD, my only interest and concern was the team (and football) itself. The politics of it all never really entered into it. But I did enjoy reading about the managers of the day; Bert Tann, Fred Ford Bill Dodgin et al in the local rag. It was quite an eye-opener when I joined this forum to read some of the posts regarding the ''politics'' of the club, and to try and work out who did what, and when. By all accounts we almost had a military intervention at one point, but it all seems to me that it came down to ego's. Mine's bigger than yours, and so it continues Whatever happened to Douglas Mears-Milne by the way? I read about him once in the Evening World, or it could have been the Evening Post.

Great he was.Played cricket for Glos.My first team ;Radford,Bamford,Watling,Pitt,Hale ,Samson,Petherbridge,Biggs,Bradford,Meyer and Hooper.Subs never existed then so if somone got injured they just stayed on in order to make someone mark them and thus tie up an opponent.Dai Ward,Ian Hamilton and Bobby Jones soon followed and in those days I saw us beat Liverpool at Eastville in the old Div2 (Now Champoinship) and saw Brian Clough score at the Muller Road end with a 40 yarder. Also saw Alfie Biggs score against us for P.N.E.

Nothing to do with me BTW. Directors include Jed McRory who has a track record of claiming to have lots of money but not spending it,
Case closed?

Not sure if it's case closed or ongoing saga well and truly opened, if it is McCrory who is trying to take over the club?
Was this why NH brought in SC, as that still seems an odd move?

I think it may be worse than that. Someone said on this forum that they had seen in the accounts that the Wonga loan was actually £2.6m, so £31200 per month. How about, new director comes and puts in £2.6m loan capital at a much more sensible rate and Wonga are paid off and out of our hair? and what is in it for a new director as a minority shareholder and hence no power?

Think it would now need £2.6m plus interest incurred to date, so the best part of £3m? Just think what that £400K would have given a Div 2 side on the playing front!!!

Jesus, if it is Nick is doing the right thing. Weird I know I am in Oxon but this part of the county is very STFC. I remember a friend (never misses their games) mentioning this bloke, also remember reading it at the time and thinking what is that all about.

Puts things into perspective doesn't it? The buyer rarely stumps up all the cash on day one. Initial investment will be just enough to take control then the rest is pledged in stages. There are definitely some chancers around, remember the Man U guy who came onto the pitch at Old Trafford and kicked a ball around to rapturous applause and a hero's welcome? He didn't have a pot to piss in but he talked a great game. I'm afraid that, if there is a consortium, these ex Swindon clowns are probably the people behind it. I'm sure they are promising great things but Higgs is right to be sceptical. What a shame I was actually getting quite excited.

GD attends most games (like you and me) BUT what are you expecting him to do that you cannot do? Perhaps you do more than popping up with comments from behind your keyboard? I would really be interested to know. I am not one who the club probably owes money too and has a strong connection and left the club to current board and now making comment on how things should be done. FYI I agree with lots of things he says, he's not wrong but it frustrating to know someone who has ideas like GD and probably could if he wanted to get involved and help the club but doesn't. Perhaps he is not allowed to, or perhaps he is part of the Consortium? Maybe he has a pad in Brum ?
