We know the £30m for the Mem within the Sainsburys deal is ring fenced for the UWE development. So NH stands to make zero profit on that money.
The BOD will obviously recoup the money that has been borrowed or loaned to cover the legal costs if they are successful.
Surly any money to be made by NH will come as a result of the UWE and the income stream it will create.
If i was involved in the consortium, and NH wasnt budging on selling 1883 and the Mem, id simply offer the buy the club, without the Mem, rent the Mem until UWE is completed - move on. In the time being the current BOD may or may not sell the Mem, but it would have no impact on the new consortium.
On the flip side of that, we do not know what the consortium is. i.e part of thier interest may be in relation to the value of the Mem land, they may have ideas of how to maximize the value of the land to offset the cost of building the UWE. We just dont know.
In terms of the figures stated - £40m buys you the UWE, but the value of the mem was always going to be absorbed into that cost if it came to fruition. So i dont know whether having the Mem or not is a big deal -
either you pay more to buy BRFC and 1883 - and you get the pleasure of selling the mem to help fund the UWE -
Or you buy BRFC - telling NH he can do what he pleases with 1883 and the mem (maybe with a caveat that BRFC can play at the ground for £X until 20XX) then the BOD can hedge their bets on beating Sainsburys at their own risk. The consortium get the club for next to nothing with the ambition to build UWE.
Therefore - if true - can NH please take his head out of this arse and engage with these people, be a man (or a fan, which he has always claimed to be) and negotiate what is best for OUR club.

Consortium Approach Rovers Vital Gas understands that a Consortium has made an approach to take over Bristol Rovers Football Club with a promise to invest at least 40 million into building a new Stadium at the UWE and further investment into the team.. It is thought that current Owner and Chairman, Nick Higgs has rejected this advance as it stands as the offer does not allow for repayment of losses that he incurred during his ownership.. The Consortium is thought to be Birmingham based but currently the identities of the individuals involved are unknown. Consortium Approach Rovers Did they come up the Gloucester Road or via Muller Road? If they took the bus up through Ashley Down they could be stuck in traffic - there's still roadworks.

The only thing I can stopping NH from selling up is that he sees a fully built UWE will generate massive income streams and so make a UWE based BRFC worth far more than the present Mem based one, is problem it that he can't seem to fund the UWE build (hence why CS has been brough in late in the day?). Whilst it's unfortunate for NH surely he can't turn away such a massive investment in the club if he is a true Gashead??? You wonder if the consortium only leaked the story to put pressure on NH to agree a deal, if so, it seems to be working!

Although they lost last night 5-1 at Bayern, they should have been out of sight before Bayern equalised.

But still not quoted as saying anything - the plot thickens UTG Agree, very interesting, he sounds like a man who is on the ropes and if the investors go public he could face some serious pressure from the fans. The article: Bristol Rovers have not been and are not currently in talks with a mystery consortium over the sale of the club, the Post has been told by club insiders. Supporter-run news website Vital Gas ran a story on Tuesday night suggesting that a consortium had made an approach to "take over" the club with a promise to provide £40 million to build a new stadium at UWE along with further investment to strengthen the squad in January. Rovers were contacted for comment on Tuesday night, but, as of yet, there has been no official word from the club on the report, which also went on to claim that chairman Nick Higgs had turned down the offer from a "Birmingham-based" consortium because it "does not allow for repayment of losses that he incurred during his ownership". There has so far been no confirmation as to how much, if anything, the group in question have offered to buy the club for and insiders have suggested that Higgs has been "angered" by the claims and is reluctant to "dignify the rumours with a response". The club are expected to maintain their silence on the matter until the Rovers chairman makes an appearance at the Supporters' Club Annual General Meeting, which is scheduled to take place at the Memorial Stadium on Thursday, October 8. The identities of the rumoured consortium, meanwhile, have also yet to be revealed by those who have placed the information of their existence into the public domain – although the Post has been told that the group may have been showing a longer-term interest in the club going back 18 months. The Post attempted to contact the consortium in question through a third-party, who claims to know who the group are, on Sunday. A response has yet to be forthcoming and the third-party was unavailable for comment when contacted again on Wednesday. Story now on Bristol Post website, Higgs is angry and reluctant to "dignify the rumours with a response". Standard reply. He was angry when Darryl Eales offer was in the public domain as there was a confidentiality clause. This means nothing. If he flatly denied it then that would put pay to it. That he won't comment just adds fuel to the fire

Or potentially, the consortium, if indeed there is one, has not yet made a formal approach, but is instead testing the waters via some well placed leaks.

or the whole story is nonsense. Will the original whistleblowers now reveal their sources?
