That is not the main reason we won that match, Bamber, and if you think that, then you`re as deluded as some other posters think. The main reason we won that game, was because a non league referee made a non league decision, and allowed us to continue with 11 players. both goalies should have walked Lets not confuse things with accurate information.

I' m starting to feel bad now that we won the Jules Rimet Trophy with the help of a disputed goal. Oh and I'm sure that we got the winner at Wigan in the 1989/90 season with a goal that came from a throwing that probably should not have been given our way.

Unbelievable that my first post has now turned into this. A total devalueing of last seasons success. It is easy to say that DC had a huge budget last season (which he didnt) and try to take away the great achievement of taking us back at the first attempt and yet the season before when he had 8 games to save us where he had no budget because a) Ward had wasted it or not used it and b) Transfer deadline was past some people BLAME him for relegation which is probably the majority of the people who dont give him praise for last season. I was critical of DC at times last season because I report on every game and I will assess him on the Team Selection,Substitutions etc during that particular game AS I SEE IT so it will go up and down. No doubt I will be critical of him again at times this season but that is just MY OPINION based on each game. You can form your own opinion. However nothing can take anything away from all the various records we broke last season whether it be on the pitch (the Manager and players) or off it (US FANS) We can and should be PROUD of our achievements. Yes last season we were a laughing stock to fall to such a level but I recall many who the season before were saying it will take a miracle to regain our League status and many said we would be languishing in the backwater for years. WE DIDN'T. The Board, the Manager and the players and we ,as fans can take great pride from that and DC proved true to his word in what he set out to achieve. The Man could do no more. He has set himself high targets this season, Can he deliver? Who knows? I for one am very glad he is our Manager and if anybody has a chance of getting us in the PlayOffs as minimum then it is DC. If he achieves it this year I can assure every one of you that he will have done it with a budget probably 25% of what Buckle,McGhee,Trollope and every other past Manager has been given.

both goalies should have walked Watch the Taylor incident again, looks a nailed on penalty and red card when you watch it in real time, but there's an angle from behind the goal that shows what actually happened. His right ankle has the slightest of touches, he then lands and his left leg, realises that the ball has hit his shin and got away from him, so he throws himself on the floor. Ref got it right. slightest or massive touch bamber their goalie took his ankle, penalty

Sorry Bamber but as soon as the contact is made by the goalkeeper it is a penalty. The dive is irrelevant (or should be). This is the problem referees are making decisions on diving rather than making the decision on whether contact is made. Definite penalty and red card.

Why don't we just rejoice that we have had a kick up the arse before the season starts. We did not beat Reading, Arsenal Boys or non league Cheltenham - we lost. I don't think it is a bad thing, I think its going to prove positive. WE don't have a divine right to win because we had great team spirit and have amazing fans. In fact I am delighted that we have had a few losses before the 8th and DC can use this to focus the squad. Hopefully we have the players key fit; Mansell, lines, Easter, Browner all make a difference (well I think Easter might if we ever see him) and DC will have got them all up to the motivation levels of last season.

Interesting to see Jeff Reine-Adelaide who shone in the pre-season match against Arsenal is getting rave reviews after the Emirates Cup.

This is the problem referees are making decisions on diving rather than making the decision on whether contact is made. Definite penalty and red card. Every time a keeper makes the faintest of contact with an attacker it's a penalty? Taylor takes another step after the contact, which was so light it wouldn't have taken the skin off a rice pudding, then realises he has shinned the ball too far ahead to catch it so throws himself on the floor. In my book, that's cheating. Come on, do we realy want Rovers to end up with players throwing themselves on the floor and pretending to be hurt, trying to get opposition players sent off etc?

I doubt they had £4m to spend? Our budget last season must have been around £1m given that most of the players would have received a decent pay rise following our promotion plus Easter & Lines are on full contracts then DC's budget must be well up on last season's already. I can't understand how the same posters say we must live within our means and stop running up massive debts then, when we do, they start demanding the manager gets a better budget, perhaps they could explain where the money is going to come from??

I get the impression that some people (no names, no pack drill) would have been happy to have seen Rovers lose at Wembley so that they could smugly announce, "I told you so"!

Yeah and we only got promoted because Grimsby missed a penalty! Nothing to do with the 25/27 victories prior to the play off final. As Gary Neville would say...un-be-lieve-able Still finished behind bankrupt Barnet though. By one point!!!!!

You sense most forum users would, it's bizarre how despondent posters are on both forums following a promotion and we've managed to retain most of the promotion squad and complete the signing of Lines.
