Catch Barnet and win the league I mean... I'm certainly more confident after today's excellent result, achieved with a couple of key players out injured too. I can see us being within a couple of points of Barnet by this time next week and with The Beard and Easter potentially back the week after, it's all coming together nicely.

Yes I think most of us remain hopeful we can.
Some amongst us think not.
Some amongst us think we have divine right to be somewhere else.
I think we definitely have a good chance of winning most our games, especially as the on paper matches don't appear as challenging as today..

i think most of us don't want to count our chickens, why put loads of pressure on the team by saying yes we will win the league. If barnet can hang on then the playoffs for us will feel like a bonus rather than we messed up by not winning the league. We just need to keep winning then who knows? loving this unbeaten mentality been years since we had it!!

Yes, I'm becoming more and more optimistic that we can. When Easter and Sinclair are fit, then things will be even brighter.
The manager has assembled a good squad of players with an equally good attitude, and the signs are that they are beginning to gel at exactly the right time of the season . . . unlike Barnet, who could well begin slipping down the table quite rapidly. I think that they may well have shot their bolt.
The final test will be to turn more of the drawn games into wins, if we can do that then we are definitely in the driving seat, and it's ours to lose. That should be the attitude.

Of course we CAN, whether we will or not is another matter altogether. We would probably be top now if it wasn't for a catalogue of individual errors!

No we can't do it. Four points is FAR too big a gap to overhaul with this many games left. It's literally impossible.

3 tough away trips coming up at Gateshead, Halifax & Macclesfield, once we've played that Macclesfield game on TV, i'll give a more definate answer, but i'm starting to sway from the 'no we can't' to the 'yes we can' camp. 2 wins with no Sinclair & Easter is a very positive sign, plus with 4 weeks until the loan window closes if we are top near deadline day, the board may get DC a present & bring in a big bucks loan player.

Things are certainly looking a lot more positive for us. A fabulous win at Grimsby today provides us with some momentum to further progress our position. All we can do now is ensure we get our performances right and the rest will take care of itself. Have Barnet started to lose their confidence and is the pressure starting to tell on both players and management ? Their game against Grimsby will be interesting as Grimsby could well up their performance having lost ground against us today as they won't want the gap to open up any further. Our game against Macclesfield is starting to become even more important in determining where we finally finish..UTG!

I think that, even if we don't catch Barnet, we would go into the playoffs as clear favourites.
We have put ourselves in a very good position to be promoted back to the football league.
So, basically another season of intense pleasure or pain is definitely on the cards <takes deep breath> <checks batteries in heart monitor>

Glad people are finally backing DC. I've been in the why not camp since we started scoringore regularly.

I posted this back before the Barnet game, haven't seen any reason to change my mind since:
Post by michaelb on Nov 25, 2014 at 8:30am A big psychological game tonight that will in my opinion dictate the rest of the season, a rash statement I know, but win tonight will give us the impetus to go on and win the league, draw and we will probably scramble a play off place, lose and we ain't going anywhere this season.
2-1 to the Gas for me.

Reality starting to really set in now "tough" away games one of these teams is part time we must step up now we will have good support at all these games go for it now if we could win these 3 games we will be champions . as the season draws to an end the home crowds will pick up if we can make the mem a fortress scare the s**t out of teams we will run it right to the wire

No disrespect to other teams, the last two games of Macc, Barnet and us read: Barnet: Kiddy (a) Gateshead (h) Macc: Dartford (h) Torquay (a) Gas: Dover (a) Alfreton (h) On paper, we've got to fancy our chances if anything is riding on it?

but we dont beat the bottom teams, we need to play the ones who try and play......macc, barnet, grimsby... look at our stats We struggle away from home against the lower teams so it might be to our benefit we are playing Gateshead, Halifax, Macclesfield, Kidderminster and Dover away from home. I wondered how we would perform yesterday as we were in an unusual position of underdogs (according to the bookies), it might be that it suits are game. Whereas our home form is good with only losing against FGR and drawing against Grimsby, Kidderminster, Dover and Torquay, none of whom are in the bottom 10. 5 out of our 7 remaining home games are against teams in the bottom 10. If we can get 6 points in these next 2 games, and Barnet fail to beat Grimsby we will be top after the Braintree game.

I actually think the makeup of our fixtures may help us. Our record against the top sides is generally excellent. What we have is a set of very winnable looking home games - so provided we can keep performing in these to maintain our position we can look upon trips to Halifax, Macc and Gateshead as bonus games which we can throw the kitchen sink at. It would be a bit different if it was the other way round as I think there'd be huge pressure on us to win those kind of home matches.
