Went to the Olympic Stadium today, off to Barcelona - Levante tonight. I've seen a game there. Horrible ground! I can't see it being a good venue for football. Camp Nou was impressive but the atmosphere was awful... ]Espanyol - Valencia on Tuesday.

Yep, went to an El Classico on a different trip and even then the atmosphere was bollocks. Plenty of skirmishes outside the stadium though, and as far as I could tell it was Barca on Barca!

It was just a tourist trap, going in the away end for the Espanyol match.

Espanyol - Valencia ended 1-0 and was a drab affair. Good atmosphere and stadium though, the Valencia fans I was with weren't happy...

Over the summer, I was in Croatia, and I went to see Hajduk Split play at their Poljud stadium, it was the 3rd qualifying round for the Europa league against Norway's Stromsgodget, and the atmosphere was electric, people going mental from an hour before kick off til the final whistle. I had some apprehension as they, along with the other big Croatian teams have a rep for being racist/right wing, but not a trace of anything outside good natured went on. Also they are a real lesson in how as a football team engages their local community. If anyone is up for a relatively cheap European football experience I would so recommend a trip to Split, my ticket was the equivalent of £7.50 (£38 for a season ticket).

I'm considering doing Belgrade in the new year as my friend has recently moved out there, certainly want to do it soonish since reading Grobar by James Moor. I've had a fair few mates go to the Balkans to watch football and have spoke highly of it. My friend Ffion recently went to Croatia and watched NK Lokomotiva of Zagreb and when they found out she was English and had come to watch she was presented with a signed shirt at half time!

Yeah I was treated very well by everyone I met at the match. However when I was approaching the stadium I got surrounded by 5 cops with machine guns, I think they thought I was a stray Norwegian who needed messing with (I was the only person I could see in the the home area who didn't have black hair). When they found found out I was English they asked how much I had had to drink, `i said 1 bottle of beer, they came back with the class line of "You are English and you have only had one beer, this does not make sense" (they were right it was a lot nearer to double figures), and then sent on my way with a terse "You go now" and a poke with a gun.

Don't know where to go tomorrow, maybe somewhere in South Wales. Did consider doing Sheffield United. Wales - Andorra on Tuesday night should be fun. Get to tick off Mansfield and Cambridge soon as well.
Maybe heading to Lille in November and I'm considering Belgrade in the new year.

Carry on down the road and go to West Clewes to watch Welton Rovers. You can have an afternoon with the Green Army. Proper lovely club!

Working up north in late November, so have suggested to my wife that she joins me on the Friday and we make a weekend of it. I will mention the opportunity to tick off St. Johnstone (v Dundee) and Kilmarnock (V Partick) at some point, but I'm sure she has probably already guessed there will be some football at some point.

Went to up to Stoke last weekend to see my old mate. Saw Stafford Rangers vs Rugby Town in the NPL Div One. Great crowd for the level and a thoroughly enjoyable 4-0 romp for the home team.
Then on the way back we stopped off at Aggborough to catch Worcester City vs Nuneaton. Lovely ground that. Insanely great pies. Worst refereeing I've seen since FGR at the Mem in 2014.

Did anyone get involved in the Western League Hop the weekend just gone? Great to see attendances near 300 for the matches. Worth it for the clubs involved.
