Did three games this weekend; Taffs Well v Pen-y-bont (1-3, an entertaining game with John Atyeo's Great Grandson playing for Pen-y-bont), Rovers v Millwall (you know what happened) and then the playoff final Leamington v Hitchin (2-1 AET, 93rd minute penalty to equalise, a sending off, fights, missed sitters but generally a s**t game).

Been in Australia for a few weeks and have just been to the Allianz Stadium to see Sydney City FC beat Perth Glory 3-0 in the semi final of the A League Play Offs. 21,000 quite an atmosphere although very few away supporters. Don't think away support is an Australian thing, distances too far! Interesting thing for me was that they have this replay system, a bit like cricket, where controversial incidents will be looked at and decisions reversed. This happened with two of the goals. In the end the right decisions were made. Andy Keogh, ex Wolves, Millwall and Scunthorpe was playing for Perth but no other players I recognised from Europe. Good experience to see other country's football, quite a good standard. Wareham - why on earth go to Australia now and not in the winter when the Ashes are on?!

But son and d-in-law and two grandchildren out there so we've become regular visitors! And I had to miss the last few Rovers matches and Somersets start to the season (not that that's been hard to miss by the look of it!). Still hope to get to a couple of tests in November and January.

Glad to hear it - no point in having close family members situated halfway round the world if you can't wangle a few trips to the cricket out of it!
I'll put up a thread in the cricket section about the Championship so it doesn't interfere with Chewie's ground hopping patch.

Good idea. I was going to wait until I've seen Somerset play before the same. I got back yesterday so will catch the Hampshire 50 overs next Wednesday. But of a strange start for us, should have won both Championship matches, lost them now I think it will be a bit of a struggle. But one day our batsmen are on fire!

Spent an entertaining evening tonight watching the Manchester Premier Cup Final at Boundary Park between FC United and Staylybridge Celtic. Awful game played on a pitch that looked like it needed a 3 month rest between 2 teams to whom that also applied. FC scored in the opening couple of minutes with a miskewed cross from a bobble which somehow managed to lob the keeper on his line. Nothing then really happened for 88 minutes. About 2000 there nearly all FC United fans and I bet any money that there was more noise made in that game than in any one that Oldham have played all season. Nice end to the season for me.
Also went to Tameside Stadium Curzon Ashton recently which was a new one. Nothing special or particularly interesting but quite tidy and well looked after and has everything a club of their size probably need and then a bit more. The other ground in Ashton (where Ashton United play) sounds more interesting.

Well Newport was an interesting day out, until the 89th minute it was a bit like being at someone you don't knows funeral. A god awful game on a god awful pitch saw a goal come from frankly nowhere to keep The Exiles in the League. Odd atmosphere with around 4,000 on the usual gate, some Jena supporters were in attendance as well. It was interesting to see Will Dubey taking penalties against a stag dressed as David Seaman on the pitch after.
From a positive story of battling against going bust, being homeless, shunted to a different country, starting from scratch, getting back to where you once were and retaining it to Forest Green Rovers. The old club realistically is dead, you go in the bar and you see no black and white, it's like a rugby club, these people are not football supporters. It's estimated that around 500 of the 3,237 crowd were on free Ecotricity tickets with Dagenham bringing around 500. To only have circa 2,000 for this game is woeful. The atmosphere was pathetic despite the best efforts of the travelling Daggers on the open side. Two quick goals put pay to Dagenham who up until the first were the better side. A grim day out tbh.
Tuesday saw me head to Clutton for a county league game, trying to get my last couple of games in to reach 100 for the seventh consecutive season. Clutton's a lovely little ground just off the A37 with a small stand and completely enclosed. A rarity for County League. Game ended 3-0 meaning the hosts need one more win to win the league.
Saturday it's off to Risca for the Gwent Senior Cup Final and match 99. Should end up on around 105 games I think.

Both Div 2 play-off games ended 6-5 with the winning goals being scored in the 95th minute. F*ck the Premier League.

I'm off to Hampden for the Cup Final at the weekend to cheer on one of our old boys in Scott Sinclair and give some stick to ex City manager Derek McInnes. I may take in the Hamilton Academicals v Dundee United play off game on the Sunday if I can grab a ticket.

Melksham was a new tick and my first game of the season on Saturday, doing Weston on Tuesday and Salisbury on Saturday. Then off to Holland for a week for;
ADO Den Haag vs MVV Maastricht, Cars Jeans Stadion, Den Haag - Friendly. England vs Scotland, Stadion Galgenwaard, Utrecht - Euro 2017. Holland vs Denmark, Sparta Stadion, Rotterdam - Euro 2017. Sweden vs Russia, De Adelaarshorst, Deventer - Euro 2017. Iceland vs Switzerland, Vijverberg, Doetinchem - Euro 2017.

Finally managed to tick it at the third time of asking in the Playoffs at the end of last season after going to a late postponement and an abandonment.
