Not on that a fan can board the bus and give the players stick, and you have to ask why you would travel to Alfreton if it wound you up that much!?
However, to start blaming the fans for the teams short-comings is woeful. From what I've seen, a half decent squad would walk this league!
We're still waiting for the striker & IT expert that the board identified in the "review"!!!
If the players and management want to create a siege mentality, then I'd suggest they get the fans alongside them and in the bunker together (without the bus-boarding numpties!).

The negativity around Rovers at the moment, on Twitter, various forums and obviously from some idiots on Tuesday night is appalling.
There is no doubt DC and his players are trying their best to get us into a challenging position but a) we are not the finished article and b) it's not easy against teams determined not to get beaten.
Those responsible for obviously upsetting the Manager and his players and staff to such an extent that they have to metaphorically consider building a sanctuary know who they are and need to realise the only way forward is to get behind the lads like it or not!
I have had Twitter rage from a couple who quite frankly are a bloody disgrace to the Gas ranks.
Keep up the good work Darrell get us a striker and push on!

Yep clearly it will be the fans who 'derail' the season & not the lack of a goalscorer. Hard to take some posters (no pun intended) seriously Of course not, but do you think that DC is not telling the truth when he says how the unacceptable criticism is affecting the players? (e.g. confrontationally trying to board the bus on more than one occasion) There are some twats following Rovers now and they need to be brought into line.

The season isn't derailed.
We're in the play-offs. Which is the maximum of most people's expectations (how many thought we'd win the league?).
But let's be fair, this clun has had an ugly element to its support for years. Who remembers Kevin Miller being hated because he wasn't local boy Ryan Clarke?

Is there anything we can do to help "lift" the players, could one of the fans on either of the forums who has good contacts with the club collate a list of positive posts from the forums and pass that over to the management team, players to show that although there are a few idiots, the majority are behind them and supporting them?

Reminds me of the stick Moussa Dagnogo got for being offside wherever he was on the pitch.

I am a massive advocate of DC, love his confidence. Think he is tactically aware and is a young manager with a great future. Basically I can't speak highly enough of him.
However something with this doesn't sit right and didn't after his post match Telford. He is at a far bigger club that he is used to. Living in MK my closest mate is a Luton fan. Regularly John Still spoke about managing fans expectations. Richard Money on the other hand alienated the fans with a similar criticism to DC.
Managing the fans is part of being at big club, well any club really but it's heightened with a fan base that is the biggest in the league that have suffered years of hurt.
As mentioned earlier, I rate DC very highly but all of a sudden feel a little detached from him at the moment, these idiots are individuals and they should be recognised. I somehow feel I am being tarnished with a big sweeping brush.

I don't condone the confrontation at all. But I am worried that a stupid prank in August still plays on his mind?
I think we are genuinely entitled to post on here our views on Taylor v White etc etc - it's all about opinions on our beloved club after all.
My big concern is that DC doesn't acknowledge that a draw v part time Alfreton isn't good enough and we should be aspiring for more. Our budget may be 50% down on last year but it's many £s more than the Alfreton manager has to play with. Still not worth abusing him or the team though as whilst I query some selections I do think he is doing his best in very challenging circumstances.

I feel embarrassed to be a supporter of this club this morning after hearing the sad news coming out of this morning press conference. DC basically saying he and the players are at breaking point over the negativity over every game, another **** boarded the team coach after the Alfterton game, and he also revealed that 100 posters were put all over the training ground demanding that he's sacked. Apparently after 3 minutes of this mornings press conference he got up and walked out. I've being say it for the last 3 months that the supporters will be the ones that de-rail any chance of promotion. About time people had a long hard look at themselves. Im staggered to be reading this. My view is "welcome to football management Mr Clarke" Every club has its nutters. If he cant handle it I suggest he is in the wrong profession. I assume he wont be wishing to manage at even higher level. Alan Pardew & Sam Allardyce have been through it, both have weathered it and are winning their battles.

There's hardly negativity after every game..... Certainly at Tranmere the fans sang all the way through and the fans and players applauded each other at the end. There was one issue with Mildenhall and a fan but that seemed to be resolved at the end. I understand the posters problem was at the beginning of the season so why raise it now? DC has previously mentioned players looking up at the Blackthorn and being almost afraid to shoot....are they still afraid of the crowds?
I definitely feel there are some knobheads who overstep the mark verbally and getting in the players faces but these are few and far between. But you get that at every club and if a problem should be dealt with. People have heckled the BoD but that is through years of frustration. Perhaps that is impacting on the players?
Perhaps also the true expectations of supporters is dawning. Or it may be that things behind the scenes are getting to him... budget pressure, lack of ability to sign players or perhaps it is just that he realises his players can't score at the moment and we would be in a better position if they could!
He has my support and I would never abuse the man or players who are currently giving 100% at the moment.

I somehow feel I am being tarnished with a big sweeping brush. I think there might be something in this. He strikes me as a very emotional guy in the way he communicates and reacts and I think he could use this in his favour rather than create any animosity. He clearly cares and I think fans would respond to him consistantly demonstrating how much he cares rather than using that emotion to take a potshot at negative supporters which will ultimately only go one way. I'm a bit surprised in the sense that I don't think I've read too much criticism of Clarke on the forum lately and when I went to Tranmere on Saturday I got the impression pretty much everyone was behind him. I certainly haven't seen any calls for his head and to compare the atmosphere now with an incident at the start of the season when the club was still dealing with the culture shock of relegation seems a bit disingenuous. Having said that I've no idea what people who try to force themselves onto the bus are possibily hoping to achieve. Some people seem to want 100% support all the time but that's not going to happen and it never did. You are never going to get 100% satisfaction - there will always be people who are upset and it's not surprising that patience is very thin given where we are but I really don't get the feeling that Clarke is getting that much stick compared with previous managers. Trollope was getting more when we were in the top half of League 1 than Clarke seems to be now. I'd be a little bit worried about this kind of behaviour from the manager to be honest - if he wants to come out and have a go at the fans then fair enough if that's what you think (though doing it too often is futile and it used to drive me round the twist when Ollie did it every other week) but don't make it look like the idiots are getting to you - that's not good.

i was at altrincham and braintree and its a bit more than a small minority who scream vile abuse at our players im afraid and reading various reports it seems that alfreton was similar to that, one problem is that in a small crowd in a small ground the players can hear every word thats shouted at them.
of course most supporters find this disgusting and it dosnt help that children can hear this stuff, its also not easy to tell a loud mouthed drunk and aggressive man or men to shut the hell up,,,i love my football but sometimes i wish i liked another sport and didnt have to listen to these idiots or cringe for the players trying there best on the pitch.

At worst, the majority of fans are frustrated with the lack of goals (rather than angry/negative) but that should be no different to the manager and the strikers who should be frustrated with it as well

Surely this is the time when the Supporters Club plus, if we had one an Independent Association, should meet the players or send a letter of support to the manager plus players.
It is the job of the manager to protect players from pressure and to me it is strange that a couple of unpleasant incidents, the actions of a tiny minority, should outweigh the massive support shown at loads of games this season. DC should work with the club and increase covert surveillance. Most of us have cameras on our phones, take some pictures and shame them on the forums.

DC has the potential to be a great manager and if we loose him because some fans break his confidence then it will be our loss. I've supported the Gas since the 1960's but we have lost something in the last 10 years and our fan base is not the family club we like to portray. We have some nasty pieces of work pretending supporting this club and I'm finding it harder and harder to want to be associated with these people. I went to watch Wales Australia at the Millennium last week and it was a wake-up and I enjoyed it partly because the fans were friendly and welcoming - people could be trusted to have a few beers and still behave and how I wish we could say the same about our fan base. Sure we suffered some terrible managers and terrible football but we need to wake-up, pull together and support a man and players who are working their socks off for this club.

I have just read the article again and can't see how all fans are being tarred with the same brush. DC makes it pretty clear it was aimed at the person who boarded the bus and the supporters who feel they have the right to hurl abuse at individuals. There are a few players in the current squad who I get frustrated with but I never verbally abuse them and try and encourage them instead. I feel we have quite a few fans who go over the top verbally, I experienced this at Barnet this season. It comes down to the same previously discussed subject - is it ok to voice concerns and verbally abuse players? I for one have always said it has a negative effect on the players and therefore don't join in. However I'm a laid back chap and appreciate we are not all made the same, but surely these supporters can clearly see their actions are negatively affecting our players. This will obviously have a detrimental effect on what we all want, to get back in the football league.

“The players are a bit down and they can’t understand all the negativity that is surrounding the place at the minute. I’ve told them that it is tough being a Bristol Rovers player but we have to get on with it.
“The stick that we got after a draw at Alfreton is making me think that we are getting to a point where we have to build a sanctuary for the players. It does feel at times that it is us against the world because people keep reminding me where Bristol Rovers were five or six years ago.
That kind of suggest more than the odd supporter. I am sure the precious souls could brush off a couple of knobheads and even have a laugh at a couple of idiots

I've being say it for the last 3 months that the supporters will be the ones that de-rail any chance of promotion. About time people had a long hard look at themselves.I'm a little surprised to be reading this, because this poster has been one of the more outspoken critics of the club and its various managers for quite some time now, but appears to be denying others the same opportunity that he himself has enjoyed in the past.. I will agree that Westcountry Gas seems to have fully bought-in to the new manager, so credit to him for that, but people are entitled to express their views however uncomfortable that may be for some, as long as its done in the correct way. Don't do as I do, but do as I say, springs to mind here. On the main topic I would agree with the posters who say that DC appears to be an emotional man, and one who by his own admission needs to look at his own management technique in one certain area in particular. I think that he may be now regretting being so emotional and outspoken in public, mainly because he has exposed a weakness in himself and the squad to public examination, but also because no good can come of it. When he succeeded John Ward as manager I was staggered by how critical he was of certain players in public, and wondered what effect that this would have on team and player morale. But the wheel now appears to have turned, and not to his liking either. I think that it's fair to say that none of us like to be publicly criticised, but as long as it's reasonable and justified criticism, expressed in a positive fashion, then a football manager cannot expect anything much better. As someone else has already posted, if DC wishes to make a success of his career then he will find that it won't be a walk in the park, ask Sam Allardyce, Alan Pardew et al. Bad behaviour goes with the territory I'm afraid, particularly when the fans feel that the team is underachieving. During these times I would suggest that it's best to keep your head down, and your mouth shut, and continue to work hard towards the better times . . . oh, and close your eyes and ears to the dissenters.
