Just to confirm before making a booking, what train station is best to get off at in Dorchester?! South or West?! I'm getting the 9:20 out of parkway, so whichever is nearest the ground/pubs would be the best bet. Just wondering what the rest of the gas contingent is doing?!

I don't think you get a choice. Bristol trains only stop at West.

You'll be about 15-20 mins walk from the ground, head for Weymouth

The journey on the train takes over 2 hours, stopping at 16 stations on an old 2 carriage train going no more than 60mph. I've learnt over the years that fellow gasheads, trains & booze don't mix very well, i feel sorry for anyone who is going by train next week as it will be a journey from hell.

If the train companies had any sense they'd put on extra carriages for this journey. But they won't.

You'll be about 15-20 mins walk from the ground, head for Weymouth If you come out of the station and turn right heading for Weymouth, you won't walk past a single pub on the way to the ground. I would suggest you come out of the station and go straight across at the junction and head for the town centre or the new Brewery Square pubs & restaurants (close to Dorchester South Station).

I would imagine the alcohol consumption on the Pisshead Express would've sufficed

And for those who need to sober up at that point - just remember that Dorchester are in the same League as Hitchin (for those with a reasonable memory)

They certainly do. Although when they got broken a few years back it was chaos! 100 blokes jumping off a Pen Mill to drain the main vein on the platform was not very classy...

Fair enough but I've been on some horrendous journeys around the world that have taken 12,16 &18 hours in intense heat with no fans where I could've cried lol.. That's what I was getting at, journey from hell indeed...

Please stop trying to put a dampener on Saturdays trip. I had it all planned out, meeting mates in the Knights Templer for a breakfast at 08.30, catch the 09.49 to Dorchester, find a pub in Dorchester for a few before the game, sleep it off on the way back.
Now I'm thinking was it such a good idea?
BTW any suggestions for a decent pub in Dorchester for pre-match beers?

Away days are always good days, at least these days you are less likely to be attacked than you were in the 70s.... Have a great time....
